Hello again Zeta 😊
I love following my intuition which never leads me astray...it is just my mind that can doubt but my intuition but my intuition always proves my mind wrong...so I really should listen more to it.
I also love working with Oracle decks but haven't done any readings in such a long time...perhaps I should start again. I love the symbology and images of the decks and even the Tarot but the tarot energy is not for me. I just can't tune into it completely so although I have tarot decks they are really little use to me.
How do I know what cards or decks are right for me? Well I don't until I try and work with them...but I usually go for what I am drawn towards. My first Oracle deck literally flung itself off the shelf at my feet and I knew straight away it was mine...and it is the most one I work with...when I do card readings.
Meditation is one of the most powerful tools we have to connect not only to our higher selves...but to everything. There are several levels to meditation and each level 'gifts' the meditator as they practice. I have not practiced in so long but I used to get so much from it and used to feel a natural "high" from meditation. At one point I was meditating up 7 times a day...to feel that connection.
Now I believe we are all already connected...and meditation is like just being able to fine tune...like a radio to be able to pick up the different frequencies out there. Some people do it through meditation...some through energy work...some through music...some in arts and some in dreams. There are many ways to reach a higher connection...each person will find what resonates with them and use it.
My advice is to always follow what feels right for YOU...let your intuition guide you. Avoid anything that lowers your energy or leaves you depleted...that includes people too. Some people can drain you without them even meaning to...but them kind are best avoided if possible or to limit your time in their company.
Always try and ground yourself before any kind of spiritual work. Call on your guides, Angels or higher self for assistance during readings or meditation. Pay attention to your dreams...that's what I'm working on at the moment.
Best of luck and please feel free to ask anything you would like to know more about or to share any experience you have. We're all students and teachers here.

Intuition is an interesting topic for me because I don't consider I have any of it. But in retrospect it often seems I do remember some hint; some slight insight; or more properly just an understanding of things after the fact. Beyond the fear and desires of going thru life. It is easy to escape into fantasy and of course wonderful if you could foretell the future. But to truly sense what is right beside you is actually subtle given the many multiple meanings of anything and everything.
My favorite Oracle cards are the Kamienie Wroza from Poland. They do not so much bring me messages as they open up my mind to see things differently. The images on the cards are pretty and compelling but as to WHY I find them so is the trick! It is like jogging your memory of things long forgotten ...

I wrote a whole page in response to intuition then it got lost before I could post it.
Intuition to me can come from different parts of our overall being. We have many different voices of intuition within us. Some not as clear, some not as true as others. It can come from our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels of our being. Sometimes it aligns to Higher Intuition other times just the results of our own ego desires.
To me when using cards of any sort as a way to get possible intuitive insights very much depends on the state of consciousness one is in when asking the question. The Deeper one is aligned to the Higher Self within one self when asking the question the more useful or insightful the card reading is for oneself or for others.
Then understanding the message; If one can totally ascertain what our Higher self is truly sharing via the cards is sometimes not as clear or complete.... or the message we got may be complete but our total comprehension of its meaning or insight may not be.
We learn to awaken spiritual discernment with working with intuitions.
just my two cents
peace Ace

Oh my goodness, thank you! You are all so kind! I see what is meant by discernment and Intuition. I see it as a delicate waltz, letting to let go of ego and control just enough to experience the fluidity, flow. I see the Oracle cards, meditation and simply daily intuitive moments (aka, nudges) as the weaving of a spiritual life. Them there are the tools. for me; crystals and pendulums. I too like to try out decks or Oracle cards to see if there is resonance. I have found a few sites that let me pull a card, see the art work and read the messages. Dreams, oh, yes, I have been trying to be more disciplined about writing down dreams and the things I see during meditation. I will get better. When I first started meditating, I saw the draw that was mention, to meditate many times a day. luckily life was too busy at that time. And then I took a break to stop a cycle of being pulled into astral and seeing snippets of people’s lives… I have just now gone back to meditating, having put in place a few measures to keep me a bit more grounded. I received my first Tarot deck and am enjoying learning to read them. Again, thank you all for the warm welcome and encouraging words. I enjoyed reading about each of your perspectives and experiences.

Hi again Zeta,
which Tarot deck did you get?
For myself the Psychic and Spiritual don't always come from the same level of consciousness within us. Meditation for myself helps me align to the Spiritual levels of consciousness and is more what I am more drawn to. Psychic/astral has their place but find myself now drawn to deeper fields.
The Tarot cards is a useful tool for Intuition that can be explored also from different levels of consciousness. Some use for fortune telling etc others use them as true spiritual path tools of higher alignment combining them with Tree of Life wisdom and such.

Hello Ace of Cups,
I just bought Tarot for Kids. Being very new, they felt the most comfortable.
The journey is so amazing. Just when I think it will never happen again, it does and sometimes in a new way.

Hi Zeta..
looked up Tarot for kids and saw youtube on it... it is very cute tarot for new people.. has main symbolism of Rider Waite deck but changed names on certain cards.. like the "Devil Card" is now called: The Bully" etc. --- like the lively kids oriented drawings which is inclusive for both genders and a variety of nationalities.
You made nice choice to introduce kids to Tarot symbolism indeed.
(that is if I found correct deck because seems there is a number of tarot or kids decks)

Hi All
Sorry I meant to get back on before now but just was busy.
Ace...were we still in mercury retrograde when you lost your writing?! That's so frustrating...well especially for me anyway because it takes me so long to get my thoughts out in print. Speaking of mercury retrograde I had a very smooth one and typical as we left the retrograde all my stuff started to give me trouble...phones...PC...electrical devices... also a mis-communication but nothing too serious thankfully...everything seems to be back on track again now....fingers crossed 😊
Zeta...I feel the same as Ace on your Tarot deck...lovely nice deck...I like the name change too especially for Death as one can become fixated by the name of it rather than the meaning...although for me personally it was always The Tower I used to fear.
I'm actually learning Cartomancy at the moment and I'm really enjoying it...but it's difficult to not connect the Tarot with the playing cards. I'm trying to learn more about the card number meanings rather than focus on a tarot connection.
It's tricky trying to forget one system when learning another... especially when they both can be read at the same time...but obviously they're different although they can also be very similar in meaning... but the difference becomes more clear when used in a spread.
So far I'm really enjoying it because I can really focus on the numbers and the numerology behind each card rather than get distracted or engrossed by card images. These also seem to have a different energy than other card or oracle decks I've used and tried...perhaps because I'm having to rely more on my own intuition and interpretation of the card rather than having an image to focus on.
Anyway I'm really enjoying learning about it and there are so many systems used in cartomancy...I think the trick...like anything...is to find something that really resonates with you and build on that. For now I'm only learning the basics but I am beginning to see I am developing my own way of learning, working and discovering the cards and their energy... you'll feel everything seem to 'flow' when you have the right connection.
Like with all divination it's not the tools themselves but how we connect, use and interpret them. It broadens the senses, mind and spirit. There is also great responsibility too... especially when working with others.
Just like any profession you would make sure you didn't leave any tools lying about so no one could hurt themselves. The same applies when reading for others...always to be aware of the people...I would be more careful with my wording for a more impressionable or vulnerable person then say someone who is more broadminded. It's one thing reading the cards it's quite another reading a person/client. I think that is why it is often good to practice with family and friends first.
I look forward to hearing more Zeta on how you are getting on with learning about the Tarot and what you are learning about yourself as you develop your practice.
Best of luck and enjoy

May I ask, when working with others in a reading, is it like holding space when a person sends love and light.

HI Zeta..
my two cents to your question
when reading for another I personally make it clear I am only doing an "insight" reading, not fortune telling... insight that the person themselves can work with the symbols that have come forth.
Not personally into fortune telling.
The space I work with is a meditative space of the Highest within myself and the other's Higher Self... it is where we both vibrationally meet and keep centering until I connect to that inner space... once I feel that inner connection I ask the question (out loud or in my mind) and just ask what information does the other person need to work with Now that I can share.

Hi Zeta
Very good question..."when working with others in a reading, is it like holding space when a person sends love and light”
First of all, I want to share how I see ‘Divination’. Each person has their own beliefs, gifts and experiences that they may wish to share with others (or not). Divination is not only about asking for messages or what the future may hold, but it can (and should) also be used for self-discovery, learning and guidance. Divination can help you reach a deeper spiritual connection, and help you experience and expand your own intuition.
As with any ‘tool’ (or gift) in life you must learn how to use it correctly. See how it feels. Handle with care until you feel you are able to manage it correctly. Even with the best of intentions mistakes can happen that is why it is so important to understand what you have...before you actually use it on yourself...and especially others. There are many tools for divination...some use cards, crystal balls, astrology, talismans or even channel directly to higher self or beings. I feel we are guided to the tools we need to go grow and develop our abilities.
As with anything, you must ‘trust’ it can do what you’re asking of it, if you have any doubts about the process or the tool you’re using itself, then it is not for you. I have found this out with several divination tools and no matter how hard I try to connect there just isn’t a channel open for me. I want to add just because something doesn’t work for you right now doesn’t mean it won’t work for you in the future, bear in mind to always follow to where you feel you are drawn to, and anything you feel drawn to that doesn’t work for you doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not right...just not right now.
Now to your question...each person will develop their own way of reading for people. The first thing to know is that you have a responsibility when reading for others (and for yourself). A great trust is bestowed on you if asked to read for someone. The most important thing when reading or using any divination tool is to become impartial...non judgmental and not to interfere with the reading. By that I mean, not to give your advice based on what you “wish” for the person, but to read the message clearly, using your intuition but not what YOU desire for them.
This can be difficult especially when reading for family, friends or someone you may know a little about their circumstances. You have to learn to step aside and allow the message to come across without any interference from you. For example, I had a person I read for who asked if she should stay with her boyfriend, I knew there were rumors of him cheating on her behind her back, and I personally didn’t think he was a very nice person, but I had to push that all aside to read the message for her. That can be so difficult to push to one side and that is why it is so important to call on your higher self, guides or angels to help you during readings.
For this very reason I find it easier to read for complete strangers...you can often get a clearer message. It is also very important to protect yourself and the people you are reading for. Each person you read for will bring their own energy to a reading, and this can easily rub off on you if you’re not prepared. Each person will find their own way of cleansing and protecting their space. For me I like to call on my higher self and Angels to protect and guide me as I read, but I also call on the higher self and Angels of the person I’m reading for to assist them in their understanding of the reading, and to help them work on the message.
After each reading I like to cleanse the cards, myself and the person I read for...some only cleanse their cards on a full moon or when they feel they need it...others wrap in special cloths or surround with crystals or use wands or spells to cleanse and protect...some people knock on their cards before a reading...there are so many ways and rituals to cleanse and clear the cards. You will find what works for you. Myself, I like a little prayer before and after, I feel it grounds, protects and cleanses...like a 3 in 1 and it works for me.
Finally, I always ask a person how they feel after a reading and explain that messages are just that...a message, a guidance if we wish, overall WE have the choice to make changes in our lives, sometimes our choices are bad ones and sometimes they are good ones, but our choices should never solely be based on a reading, no matter the message. I always say to take what you need and always ask your Angels or whatever you believe in to help guide and protect you.
You can sometimes get people who simply cannot make a decision about anything without a reading...and that is not a spiritually “healthy” person and no matter how tempting it is to keep doing readings, especially if money is involved or however well the intention, this is using the cards for bad purposes and nothing good will come from it for either the person or the reader. This is why it is important to be able to read a person and not only the cards...when you can see someone is becoming too focused or obsessed on the cards...then it is you that must stop reading for them. If they choose to go to someone else well they is THEIR choice, but just know you have done the right thing for you in this situation. This is how I have learned to use the cards over the years, but everyone is different. Each person will pick up, explore and develop their own ways and techniques. I also have not done a card reading for such a long time, but learning about Cartomancy I feel a stirring within me again, a new hunger for learning and exploring with the hope of developing new skills and spiritual connections. This time I am learning for me and not for the intention of reading for others...so I feel less pressured if that makes sense.
Please feel free to share how you’re getting on...and what you are discovering about yourself on this path. Don’t be afraid to ask any questions either...I can’t give answers but I can certainly share my own personal experiences. Also so many here have so many years more spiritual experience and its defiantly worth exploring all the different posts and topics on the forum, and even if the original poster has left the group, it is always good to ask questions. I learnt many years ago, it is just as important to ask the questions as to receive the answers...and sometimes the answers aren’t what or where we expect them to be!

Angel, Thank you for the explanation and perspective. It has helped me see the whole picture. This really pulls all of the things I learned together. I thought grounding, clearing and protecting were more of a daily “Spiritual Hygiene”. I had never thought to using it with cards or other tools that I might use. I think it will help with holding space. Sometimes people’s energies get to close. I knew about cleansing the cards, but I had never thought of cleansing the reading area, myself and the other person. Stepping aside, yes! I understand this and am very much aligned with the idea. I think when I first began, I had “beginners mind” with everything and it was much easier. But with experience and spiritual “maturity” it is finding the balance with learning to lock down the “monkey mind”. When my journey began, I felt very intimidated by the depth of knowledge and the books that everyone had read. I do not have access to such things and had to simply let all of that fall away and let intuition be my guide. As I met people and chatted with them, I gleaned bits of information and took what felt right. As of late, I have a small collection of crystals that I feel guided, by higher self, angels and old ones, to set in a grid before pulling cards. The results are quite interesting. I have not really felt the need to ask a questions before pulling cards yet. And the past, present and future, just does not seem to fit. So far now I have been pulling three cards and they read like a story for the week; like seeing a movie play out. Sometimes they feel like reminders to nudge my spiritual growth. I am glad you mentioned the people who want readings to tell them what to do. I have felt this so clearly and fill with fear. It is difficult to explain. I bought the Tarot for Kids to work on the card meaning, questions and intuition. It is going slowly. Which feels right for now. I was fearful about opening to Tarot. Someone had planted a seed of fear, long ago about Tarot. So, I never thought I would feel inspired to try it. Thank you again for sharing. I am learning so much and I will begin reading through the forum. I must say, you are all so friendly and helpful! Thank you!

Normally I am pretty tolerant. Tight budgets, thrift shops, yard sales ect. I do admit all my oracle cards were bought new by me and rarely touched by anyone else. In spirit circles ( seances ) we invoke the Guardian first for protection. I had a stint as the Chaplain for an on-line Rosicrucian group. I always invoked the Guardian with the added prayer " let only the truth be spoken here " . It isn't a popular concept even now but the Cosmos does have it's demons. WITHOUT EXCEPTION the benevolent entities will give you your space. If anything feels uncomfortable take a rest.

Hi Zeta, It is lovely to meet you. I'm sorry it has taken so long to greet you. My only excuse is life.. it has been hectic for me the last couple of months. This is a lovely group, and even though people are not as active as they were, the ones that still keep returning are quality. I love them and wish I had more time to spend on here. It is a brilliant place to share with like-minded others. Read the posts, there are many of them. They illustrate more than any words I can say, the 'journey' we have all been on and continue to travel. I am a Reiki 2 practicioner, have been practising for over 16years now. I also have a deep interest in dream symbology. I love reading anything on personal growth, and I am drawn to the Buddhist beliefs. My old username on here was sparklekaz, and have contributed many posts over the years under that name. Why I have changed it is a long story, and not worth repeating now. Though my new username is Honey, you can call me Karen or Kaz, whichever you prefer. I like your name its unusual. Many years ago now I had a dear friend who was also called Zeta. Sadly we lost touched. I look forward to reading your posts and getting to know you better. Love and light Kaz

Hello Karen, It is nice to meet you. I understand about life being hectic. The same is happening at our house. I received my first reiki book at Christmas. I look forward to finding time to read it. I appreciate your perspective on Buddhism. I have a good friend whom I discuss Buddhism and many other philosophies. I am still learning. At the moment I am going through a quiet spell, as if all of my burning question are no longer important. Spiritual loneliness, I suppose, growth all the same. I look forward to learning and reading! love and light, Zeta

Hi Ace, Happy New Year to you too my friend. I am sorry I have been so quiet. I have been in the midst of tests and exams, all connected to my job. So balancing work, home, coursework, and these tests have been challenging. I hope you are keeping well and had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year. I am hoping to come on more in the next few weeks Ace. I do miss it. Has anyone heard from Monty? I haven't spoken to him for a while. Hoping he is ok. Zeta, I have found that spiritual growth comes in fits and starts. High's of intense periods of growth and then long periods of time where life takes over and other things take priority. When we are busy in a practical way, becoming contemplative, finding the time to read, reflect and discuss with others who share our interests, is not easy. Particularly for women who have children. And then I realized that 'real life is where are most intense opportunities to grow occur. For isn't it within our relationships with others that we can see first hand how to follow a spiritual path, isn't just about talking the talk, it is about walking the walk. As in, learning patience. Being nonjudgemental. Putting ourselves in another person's shoes. Developing empathy. Feeling compassion. Stepping back, not learning to get drawn into other people's drama, or emotional highs and lows. For me, the learning to step back and detach, not react so emotionally all the time was my biggest lesson. And though I still do react at times, I'm not half as reactive as I used to be. I'm always a work in progress Love and light Kaz

Kaz, I would agree. There is the learning and then the putting into practice. Life offers up so many opportunities and sometimes failure is the most important part. It seems to reshape who I thought I was. I seem to become more fluid and less rigid. Recognizing the drama and side stepping is important, that seems to be when I am most quiet. But not always… always learning. 😊 Zeta
