Samhain Blessings and Happy Halloween

How lovely to see the forum active again.

Today and especially today has to be one of my favourite times of the year. It's like you can feel the ancestors around.

How do you spend your Samhain/Halloween?

Share your traditions from where you live...how you celebrate it now or how you used to celebrate it as a child...or both.

As a child we would carve turnips/Swedes with scary faces (pumpkins weren't available here in Ireland in the early 80s when I was a child)

I'm telling you a carved turnip is probably even more scarier than a pumpkin especially as it withers hahaha

We also didn't have trick or treat just games we would play. It seemed to be a time for the adults playing tricks on neighbours etc

We would make our masks in school and bring them home.

The best part for me as a child would be all the Halloween cartoons and tv programs and even a Halloween movie if we were lucky.

But even as a child I was aware of another realm...and was connecting to spirit without me fully understanding what was happening...I think that is what I found so frightening as a child.

Now as an adult I can see and understand not just one realm but many that you can connect and even merge with.

Of course this just doesn't happen overnight...it takes time... patience and practice to tune into the different energies and vibrations out there.

But more on this another time...

As a kid I always loved Halloween if for no other reason then the cooler temperatures. Hot weather and sunlight were bad for me. Plus even as a kid I had a "dry sense of humor" and the skeletons and witches ( oddly smiling ) and Frankenstein monsters were too funny to take seriously so I enjoyed playing around with them. Of course the candies were nice too!

Parties of any sort were out of the question for me. I was taking social distancing to the extreme long before the Killer Virus made it mandatory.

Later - much later - I became aware of the metaphorical implications of Halloween. Where distant realities could come closer together. I am not good at this so I almost always rely on Mediums. Now the costumes, the monsters, the walking dead: they appeal to my acceptance of how utterly immense the Cosmos is and how limited our perception is. A recent "odd dream" had everybody more or less as an illusion. One by one we shifted our vibrations and revealed who we really were. Instead of common people masking as Napoleons it was the other way around. It was amazing ( in my dream ) who the person next to you really was. What looked like the average Joe was a great philosopher behind the disguise.

It is interesting that Halloween happens during the first 10 degrees of the sign of Scorpio. Scorpio's ruling planet is Pluto.. both are symbolically connected to death, the afterlife and the shadow aspects of the human psyche.

Astrologers believe the Pluto/Saturn conjunction aspect this year was the planetary energy behind the virus experience this year. Pluto is also the planet of transformation and rebirth. It is learning to be the Phoenix arising from the flames as old structures crumble and slowly renew. Sometimes they arise in new configurations. Others die away.

I've always felt a energetic connection to Halloween more than any other holiday perhaps because of the Scorpio connection...I don't know.

I didn't feel so much of a strong energy build up to Halloween this year unlike other people...but I'm certainly feeling it today with a bang. You know when you get that awful sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach...well that's the feeling I have today.

Maybe it's all the election news or this virus lockdown...but something is brewing as they say here...something is definitely stirring...not feeling any positive vibes from it either...oh I hope it passes...and quick.

I'm still holding out for a peaceful Christmas though...

what day is your Scorpio birthday, Lorraine?

In numerology we will be in a 7 month in December. Seven is number of inner exploration and retreat as we end this challenging number 4 year.... and possibilities for real deep inner connections. So there is chance people will connect spiritually more, (or forced to because virus still lurking in background) with less outer frills and superficially in December.

Then we have big Saturn/Jupiter conjunction on exact day of Winter Solstice and then square to Uranus in the financial sign of Taurus for first week or so into January.   So could effect unexpected change in financial concerns for a while but perhaps at that time we will also start to get and release a real vaccine for people to deal with virus. But next year will be 5 year of change or wanting it even stronger and quicker.

So the energy of 2020 challenges and rebirth are still flavoring the atmosphere until end of year.
