Spirituality is often described as a journey, with many pit falls and detours along the way. It is claimed only a few make it to the other side, and judging, by my few years on the path, I can fully understand why. I will never forget the few ending words my first mentor passed on to me, or maybe it was the way it was passed, in a matter of fact way, "Of course at any time you could go completely mad."
Many years later, I completely understand what she meant, and many, is the time, I questioned my sanity. Spirituality by its nature seems to pull you in, with many making statements like, "Once you start, you have to finish, you cannot stop it." People have made comments along the lines of, I tried to walk away, but life just kept getting harder and harder, as if it were pushing me back on track, I once thought that way as well.
It has been two years since I have done any spiritual practices, and as can be expected, all the so called gifts have fallen away, poetry doesn't flow anymore, foresight is gone, voices and visions all gone.
I do this every now and again, take a step back, and examine everything with fresh eyes, or at least see things from a different angle, and it is something I recommend.
Sometimes we get so caught up in things, it blinds us, as to what is going on, when in the middle of a forest, we cant see the forest anymore, a drunk under the mercy of alcohol, may not even realize he has a problem.
Dont get me wrong, Iam not saying spirituality is bad, just that sometimes we get so engulfed, we cant tell when we have made a wrong turn.
Intent is a big word in the spiritual game, and its very nature decides which foot we set out on, desire and escapism, Id imagine are the wrong foot, ego always seems to be the problem, and the ego is a very cunning foe, who has fooled many a victim on a merry dance of detour.
I think it safe to say, that everyone has their own agenda, and when we accept this concept about humanity, its easier to understand mankind, even the president of the United States is only elected in terms, short periods of time, which allows him to keep his office or be thrown out, it is excepted mankind has not evolved enough to handle power, and the ego always craves power at any level.
There is no escape from this, unless you are one of the few, who made it to the other side and try as we might, the ego will led us on a merry dance, problem is,half the time we dont even see it, too engulfed to see what is really going on.
