What is this thing that humans think they need to know everything? Like the kid on the playground that feels jealous if their friends don't divulge all the " in group " secrets. Even as there is nothing that makes us feel so special as to be given the secret password.
" You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free " so the Bible says.
Well as the years go on we grow complacent. Since there are so many restraints on what we can see or hear we rationalize we don't care anymore. Indeed faith becomes a test for spirituality. " If God wanted you to know He would have revealed it to you. "
The lower animals seem to do quite well not knowing about their ultimate fate which of course is always death. Ulcers in animals is NOT the norm or so I have been told. Oops here we go again. I had to research that to find it out.
Amid the narcissist urge to possess knowledge like a chest full of gold and riches is the obvious fact of life: we value the things we know . Losing our memory to Alzheimer's disease to most of us is about as appetizing as looking forward to a thief coming in the middle of the night and stealing the family jewels. Despite living in the age of electronic video games the book industry still manages to survive selling those heavy things of paper with symbols printed on them called words. The words are more then entertainment; there tell us things we apparently value knowing or even vicariously experiencing.
That we would evolve to the extent we would sell every physical object we had for mere knowledge implies the arcane might just be superior to the mundane after all. Something the Rosicrucians taught for ages. The reason being is that in the end all it is anyway is just a thought - born of infinite knowledge - that creates. We are because God thought it should be so - so He could know what is like to be Him from a different perspective.
Even as there is nothing more debilitating to human dignity then to live in a society that lacks freedom of speech. To stifle knowledge and the pursuit of same seems to kill us slowly and surely. It must be written in our genes to be curious and want to know.
