The Self never dies. Although, it decays ( atomic decay theory ) only to take another body life after life. Within the body lies is the mind, the Self`s alter ego, so to speak. Often times the Self mistakes the mind for the body.
The body is what the Self gets. It`s the mind that`s responsible why we look like this & that, why we behave the way we do, why a gender becomes manifest in our body. The mind in other words is where the Self keeps its memories, past & present, stored in the brain. A memory can be retrieved by simply thinking & willing the mind to release the information from the brain. This maybe a sound or picture which the Self sees and hears. What the Self desires, the body obeys and acts accordingly what it wants to do.
The mind is not body nor it is the Self.

What proof has there ever been, that the true self lives on. Is it a theory that we blindly accept, second hand information from others. Those who have experienced nde, it is quite common for certain medicinal drugs to cause out of body experiences, it is also quite common for traumatic experiences to cause out of body experiences. Those who have claimed to have gone to heaven and returned to the body, how do we know if it is real, is it the mind creating our life long beliefs, has anyone experienced something new, that which they did not know about in life. All fear stems from a fear of death, people are terrified of dying, to remove that fear is extremely comforting. Is this something people accept blindly for comfort, even at its best, if the true self continues, it is not the personality, that which you identify with, has only one life. Spirit stays the forms drop away, do you have any identification when spirit returns to spirit.
