Hullo
The female Chimera was a male goat with lioness body , probably the symbol of Cimmerians who attacked Assyria in 8th century BCE. Later the Greek hero rode his flying horse Pegasus and gave Chimera a hard time. Zeus threw her mother Echidna into mount Etna volcano which is prohibited by EU regulations . Turkey has Chimera as a burning gas vent at Mount Olympias in Lycia. I think she is the Uffington "horse" carved in chalk in England around 7th century BCE or earlier and became the Scottish unicorn . Do you agree?

Hi donq, The lion with " goat in the middle" could be "goat's body " and so goat-head with horns. This is more logical for a war-symbol than having a goat-head sitting on the backbone . Marduk in Babylon had the goat-horned beast with lion-paws . I can't get images to show either..
