Hi Karen
I had a very strange dream last night and was wondering if you could shed some light on it for me, when you have time. Thank you :-)
Two part dream:
I was dreaming I was in my old school and in class but as an adult and with other mature students. As we were leaving the school I remember the doorway taking the shape of a keyhole, shaped out of red and brown bricks.
The young man was stood in the doorway and showing me his hand which seemed to have a tattoo on it which on closer inspection it was two stamps (not postage stamps) but more like club admission stamps that had been tattooed onto the back of his hand.
He placed his hand in mine as if we were about to hold hands and he was smiling very happily. Then he twisted his wrist slightly and pulled away leaving me with his hand...I remember I was not so much shocked at him leaving me with his hand (which of course freaked me out) but I was more shocked at how much the human hand weighs.
I just remember keep saying how heavy it was and the young man was just stood there laughing. He had given me his hand (actual hand not false) and I was walking off to my car with it thinking what am I to do with this hand also how heavy it was.
2nd part of dream:
I am in my old school alone at night and need the toilet badly...go to toilets and both are blocked and smelly...I decide to use the toilets in the showers as they were clean.
I felt uneasy being in the school this late on my own but was desparate for the toilet so had to go. On my way to the shower room my brother rings me which I am secretly happy about as I can now speak to him while I try to find the loos.
The first loo was too dark so went to 2nd loo and that was too tight a spot and the 3rd loo was both dark and tight but I decided to use it because I was now too desparate.
Just as I was about to use it I heard whistling and asked my brother was that him on phone but phone was dead. I shouted hello but no answer just whistling and slight banging from outside somewhere...I could not hold on any longer and used the loo.
I quickly left the shower room and shouted out when I could hear voices inside the school it turned out to be my brother and his old school friend repairing a window which I was very relieved to see them but annoyed they waited until I needed the loo to start making all the noise...I remember being very anxious about getting home to my husband who would be very worried by now. Then I wake up.

hi Lorraine..
to me it had some symbolism.. that when a hand ( help) is offered we should accept it.. even if the idea of accepting help from others is a burden at times to the receiver ( some people have a hard time accepting help) and to them it turns out to be heavy burden,
the second part was symbol which was semi-humorous to me..... even if sometimes going or leaving a situation in life can be scary or fearful.... Sometimes "We Just Have To Go"!! and brother help us if we can't. what we are leaving was a situation or held belief, relationship etc of the past symbolized by the old school .

Thank you Ace :-)
A good perspective and one I will mull over.
Although I mudt admit if I was indeed offered a hand with something right now I would very well snatch the hand off lol so maybe that is what my dream was suggesting! ;-)
I have a fair idea of what my dream was referring to in my real life but the symbolism is what really got my attention and would love to know how these symbols relate to me and where I am at the moment.
I did enjoy reading your interpretation and as I said will definitely take your suggestions on board.
Thank you for your time and reply. I really appreciate it Ace :-)

So I am adding this dream to this thread because there seems to be an underlying theme to all these dreams..which seems to be in the form of my childhood school.
I dreamt last night of being inside my school again and I saw the old piano but when I went to play it...I discovered it was in pieces and out of tune...I remember feeling very sad at this...as a kid I and my class mates loved to play on it and I was so dissappointed and upset to see it in this state.
That's all I remember from my dream so if anybody can shed some light on what this means I would be most grateful. Thank you in advance :-)

I have many similar dreams in that I am what I am now but trying to go back and rejoin the band. I lost my clarinet; I can't hold my breath long enough to play any kind of wind instrument ( oddly the flute is an exception but the dreams don't mention that); I am old enough to be the band instructor and yet I want to just be one of the kids.
So instead of lamenting over a broken piano it is me that is broken! What can you expect over such a long period of time? The net effect is the same. Everything physical wears out unless it is maintained or rejuvenated. Even then you just postpone the inevitable. I guess having kids and a family might give a sense of "going on" but it is still a blow to realize mortality. Death - or loss - is one thing you can't quite describe until you experience it personally. Unfortunately.
Well in the long run the ups and downs can be seen as a whole since nothing really has a beginning or an ending. But we can't live in the future yet or see it.

hi Lorraine,
to me dreams of old school... is a way of our psyche telling us to reexamine old beliefs we learned (school setting). Things we may have excepted as being truth at one period of our life may look differently as we grow and age and get a greater wisdom and perspective. Our old ways of seeing things my be symbolized by the piano.... it may now be out of tune. Our trying to hold on to the past ( brings forth security issues) -- it can be fearful a bit when we are letting go of our attachments and emotional conditioned ways of being we live with previously -- also excepting new ways of responding can be fearful at times (even if it is subconscious fears).
The old school, --- could be a belief, how are reacted to certain things in past, how we acted in a relationship in the past etc.
just what came to my intuition on added dream

Hi Gruntal and Ace
I wanted to thank you both for your replies. Each perspective has given me something to examine. Something Gruntal said tweaked something inside me and made me ask myself...Is it myself that is broken?
And also Ace made me delve deeper by taking a look back on my past and am I "out of tune" or playing like a broken record?
While I don't feel they are predominantly the symbolic meaning to my dreams I do think they are definitely worthy of looking at it from a different angle. I am very grateful to you both and your wonderful intuitive insights.
My apologies for the delay in replying to you both also...but we have had a very sad and tragic death in our community and we are all finding it hard to get our thoughts around it. I am actually just back from attending the wake. Anyway I just wanted to explain as to why my delay in replying.
Thank you both for your time and replies which I am truly grateful for :-)

Hi Lorraine,
Sorry for the delay in replying to your dreams. I loved reading Ace's interpretations and George's. Here is my interpretation.
In your dream you were at your old school and in class. As an adult, with other mature adults. Life is a school, you are here only to learn and grow. You are taught by all people and by all situations. Some of the lessons will be hard, but as a mature student, you are where you are meant to be emotionally and spiritually. The lessons may change, but the difficulty will remain the same, until you learn them and are able to progress. Each night, whether you remember or not, you are out of the body and learning in schools at higher spiritual levels. Each level of consciousness is teaching you something about the nature of self.
As you leave the school, you go through a doorway made from Red and Brown bricks, shaped like a keyhole. Bricks represent strength and endurance. These are the qualities that you will need most. And which to some degree you already embody. Bricks also symbolize - building or creating a new direction for yourself. In your waking life, have you been considering branching off in a different or new direction? If this is the case, this dream is giving you a 'green light' to proceed. If you have not been considering this, maybe you should!
Regarding colour, symbolically Orange represents energy and peace. It is also connected to the 2nd Chakra - the Sacral. Brown represents grounding. This colour is also associated with the 1st Chakra - the root. When you get the opportunity, read up on the negative and positive qualities, health and emotional traits connected to these Chakras. I feel this will also give you more insight about this dream. Remember this is YOUR dream and as such, whatever information you read that 'jumps out at you' or 'resonates with you' will be right for you. Or will trigger off an intuitive response that will give you the direction and guidance you are seeking.
Doorways represent opportunities for self-discovery. If opened you walk through, acknowledging on all levels you are ready for whatever lessons, challenges and opportunities life is offering you next. Symbolically, as the doorway is the keyhole, you the DREAMER are the key. Within you, is everything you need for this next phase of your journey. I hope this makes sense to you. These thoughts jumped out very strongly for you. I even see you wearing a little silver or golden key on a chain. A talisman of power for you to carry with you at this point in your journey. (on a personal note, I've been drawn to wear one myself. Not a key, but something else that came to me in a dream. Will share after if your interested.)
A young man is stood in the doorway and showed you his hand, on which were two stamped marks. As you know in our dreams all dream characters are at some level an aspect of ourselves. As well as representing people we may know or not. A young male represents assertive, aggressive, strong side of self. Rationality, intellect, consciousness, and will. That which penetrates understands. Think of Yin and Yang. Stamps denote approval or rejection. My intuition draws me to believe that in this case, the young man may represent a young male in your waking life. Someone who you feel responsible for. Who wants your approval, or someone you are worried about or are anxious about the choices, decisions or direction their life is going. Hands represent feelings, the expressive part of self. The left hand represents receiving energy and love. The right hand gives. A hand extended towards you denotes help is offered. (you haven't mentioned in your dream which hand it was)
The young man putting his hand in yours is also a symbol of trust. There is a message here for both of you. That help and guidance is available. The hand comes away in your hand. Do you feel that in life you have been given a task or responsibility that has become much harder to bear or do then you originally anticipated? Or are you trying to help someone, but have misguidedly become a little 'too heavy handed'. Something here needs to be handled gently, tactfully and sensitively. Strong personalities can without meaning too, overwhelm others. Make it difficult for them to express themselves freely. Or for fear of losing that persons approval hold back. when what you really want is an atmosphere of openness and trust. Something for you to consider or meditate on.
That is it for the first part of your dream Lorraine. Please remember that this is only my interpretation of your dream. So please only take what resonates with you and leave the rest. I will do the second part of your dream later on today or tomorrow if that's ok.
Love and light Kaz

Hi Lorraine, 2nd Part Of Dream.
You are in your old school at night and desperate for the toilet. As mentioned in the first part of your dream, Schools in dream symbolism represent higher consciousness, learning and growth. Night time, indicates you are moving into 'unknown territory'. The hidden parts of self. There is something going on inside and outside that you are not seeing clearly. An issue that needs the light of guidance to shine upon it. Inside it could be connected to your inability to step back from a situation and look at it through the prism of non judgement. Or it may be something you've even believed was a strength, but in actuality has become a weakness. Such as rigid beliefs. Rigid beliefs don't have to be long held ones. They can even be new perceptions that have been embraced so completely that they leave no room for anything else to enter. Unconsciously you know this, and your need for the toilet, is your desire to get rid of whatever it is that is hindering your progress.
You say the toilets are blocked and smelly. Toilets represent elimination. A cleansing of self - old habits, outdated, distorted beliefs and opinions that have no place in the YOU, that you are becoming. Unwanted and un-needed past experiences. Releasing them, letting go and forgiving. If the toilet is blocked, you are blocking the cleansing process by hanging on to the negative thoughts and experiences. The unpleasant odour, can signify conflict within. Bad smells, signify bad ideas. You want to rid yourself of something, but the ego or intellect argues differently. Do you see where I am going with this?
The phone rings and it is your brother. In dream symbology, brothers represent masculine part of self. Qualities in self you project on your brother or a brother figure. It is also connected to your perception of relationship with your brother. You are glad it is him as you need him. This can shows a deep-seated need for familial support. Whether or not we get that support does not matter, it simply shows that the family connection is a vital part of your makeup. Family is safety, when we are feeling uncertain and afraid.
In your dream your phone rings, you see it is your brother calling you and you answer it. The phone is dead. Phones as you can guess represent communication. If you are trying to make the call, you are asking for help or understanding in a certain situation; or it is necessary for you to do so in order to gain some clarity. If someone is calling you, it usually represents your guidance trying to get your attention with an important message. However when you answer your call, the line is dead. This indicates that whatever this deep seated issue is, you are not listening to your higher self/guidance. Sometimes the things we need to confront and rid ourselves of are deeply discomforting to face. But face them we must, if we wish to proceed any further. Until it has been faced and resolved you will start and stop, begin but not finish, coming back to the same point, dealing with the same conflicts and inner turmoils.
You cannot hold on any longer, and so use the toilet. A letting go has begun, the elimination process has started. It takes great self honesty to look at ourselves, examine our motives, attitudes and treatment of others. There is no weakness in admitting we have been wrong. Indeed if we could only know it, realize it; In sincere humility, we have never been stronger. A lesson here I believe we can all learn from. Your brother and his friend are repairing a window. Windows in dream symbology represent the ability to see beyond a given situation. This for me has been a very powerful theme coming through in your dream. The window also symbolizes the ability to see through to the other side - inter-dimensional awareness. The lessons you are currently processing and confronting, will ultimately free you from inner blocks that are impeding your progress. Your brother will through your interaction with him, will be an important part of this process. As will all your familial relationships, to varying degrees.
That's it from me Lorraine. As always, please only take from this interpretation what resonates or is meaningful to you and leave the rest. There is a lot of symbology here. Intuitively a lot has come through. I offer this in love and peace. Love and light Kaz

Hi Karen
Just wanted to say thank you for writing your dream interpretation. I really appreciate your time and effort.
Once again you have exceeded yourself and due to this being a public forum, I can’t go into all the personal details except to say that you have hit a few nails on their heads but probably not in the way you think. None the less your interpretation has helped me to get a better understanding of what my subconscious is saying and what I need to do in my waking life to help.
I am a firm believer in dreams and their meanings and I wish I was able to decipher the symbols like you can Karen, but alas that is your gift and not mine. I also appreciate Ace and Gruntal’s interpretations and they both definitely gave me another angle to explore, but it was your interpretation if I am honest, that really rang true for me.
I can’t say that I have thought about a necklace or locket of any description either past or present, as they tend to irritate me after a while, like I am being choked hahaha, also I have had no ideas or inspirations of a keyhole, lock or key, so I will have to leave that to my subconscious. Of course I would love anything you would like to share with me in relation to your own ‘Jewellery’ discoveries or visions!
Please also forgive me for the delayed reply I hadn’t forgotten I was just a little caught up with stuff and I wanted to wait until I could sit down and give you a proper reply, rather than a quick thank you. I hope you understand. Love and Light
