In the short period, I have dipped my toe into the waters of energy healing, it has become apparent in my experience, a certain word is closely affiliated with such practise, that word been "temporary"
Healer, one who has the ability to heal without conventional medicine.
Heal, To restore, to make whole again.
While someone who suffers pain on a continual basis, will very much see the benefit, of been pain free/or reduced, even though temporarily, it doesn't actually fit the definition.
If we take that disease stems from thoughts which transcribe into built up emotion, causing blockages in the physical, stemming the flow of spirit, an addition of universal energy may cause temporary relief, but with the same mindset and emotions held, symptoms soon return.
Does acupuncture not work on the same principal, bypassing the blockage, how long it endures, I have no idea.
A well known spiritual teacher, spoke of not attempting any form of energy healing, as it interfered with the persons karma, and that the healer might take on the patients karma, personally, I could not take these words seriously, we are born to a world, where we are to live in harmony and help one another, doctors, nurses, dentists etc must be overburdened with others karma. If walking down a street and someone is knocked down right in front of us, are we meant to leave him there to die, for fear of taking on his karma or part of.
Having read of others concern with the temporary aspect of healing, some have concluded that not everything has been passed down, that there is something missing.
it has to be said, that if all this is connected, then the only way for a complete cure, is to be able to remove one's karma, a clean slate if you will.
Jesus Christ, healed people, and is often quoted as saying, "go, and do not sin again." (Try not to build up the bad karma), I don't recall in the bible anyone complaining, it didn't last.
Yogananada, was said to be able to remove people's karma when he healed, but he could also stop his heart at will.
Is it a reflection of our spiritual progress, that we have only barely touched the tip of the iceberg, and that try as we might, we are very much still attached to our bodies, beliefs, others, memories.
It has been wrote that a fully realised being wishing to stay on the earthly plain in order to help others, must develop a strong attachment to something to remain here, he must have something to keep him grounded.
It is regularly quoted," that we are not the body", and we probably all know this but how many of us believe it, and to what degree, a forum member wrote of a time when damage was done to his body and he felt no pain, I know he spoke the truth, experiencing the same thing many years ago, but to what level do we have to take this.
If you were in a skyscraper in New York, and the building started to tremble, would you be scared, if you left the building, went outside and the streets were undulating and the ground shaking, would fear creep in, when a Buddhist monk drinks and covers his body in petrol, sits in the lotus position and is ignited as a protest, how does that make you feel.
In a documentary on you tube, a female Buddhist monk lived as a recluse in a tiny hut, from a young age for forty five years, I wasn't sure, whether to feel happy or sad, or should the answer have been to feel nothing.
Either way, I feel we are all very much infants in the grand scheme of things.
