Hi Karen, It reminds me of these quotes: “Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read..." “I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.” ― Groucho Marx P.S. A senior Thai writer whom I personally knew (he passed away 35 years ago) once wrote: Men die monuments collapse but the books last forever.

Hi Monty, Your writer friend was a very wise man I fell in love with books from the moment I learnt to read, a lifelong romance that has never faded. A book has been my companion, my guide, my friend & my constant neverending inspiration. And I know I'm not alone in this. Book lovers the world over feel the same I'm sure.

Hi Karen, There was a funny but true story that happened to me about books. I cannot remember if I already told you yet. I'm sorry if that the case. It happens a lot recently, though it's still not (yet) like my mum who repeats the same story she's just told within 5 minutes. :-). A few years after my first divorce (almost 20 years ago), when I was in one of my favorite second hand bookstore, I was very surprised to find one of a great books there (about I Ching). I knew that there was no such book in Thailand that time or even today (I already searched almost every libraries and bookstores here), even it was not a real rare book in USA or UK, and that was why I had to order it once from abroad. And I lost it (with my whole first personal library) after my divorce (along with my house, car etc. . Anyway, while I was opening that book, I came to startle as I found my handwriting in it!?! hahaha! Yes, it was my own book! My ex sold it there among many of my books (which I found them later when I went to that bookstore again). And I bought that book back again, with a very low price. But I didn't dare to tell the seller that it was my book.) It's still on my desk, even now.
