Hi all

I am just wondering if anyone here has watched "Sense8" netflix tv series? I have just finished watching the final episode (12) in the first series and I believe they are in the process of making a 2nd season and I truly can't wait!

The reason I ask is I found it had deep spiritual meanings and I really enjoyed trying to piece together the plot line/s. Anyway I would love to know if anyone else has seen it and what they thought of it or even if they could relate to certain characters.

Hi Lorraine,

The idea that after I died, my consciousness goes to 8 individuals around the world and they start to see, help (and even fall in love with) each other in the sixth sense and paranormal way, is so cool. I think this is another way to explain reincarnation. My whole consciousness doesn't go out of my body and reborn in a new body, but only some part of it. Something like after I died down on the ground here, a tree has been growing up. I didn't reborn to be that tree but the tree has some part of me in it (from natural fertilizer, my corpse in the soil there. hahaha). And yes, even some part of my consciousness in it, if the tree knows how to decode it. 
A certain character I could realate to? Hmm..though I would like to relate to Will, a good guy, but Mr. Whispers, a bad guy is a lot closer to me. hahaha

P.S. Frankly speak, If there are only Will and Riley, I would love this movie more. Very romantic!

The show sounds interesting but I don't have Netflix... can you tell us what it's about and such? Was trying to make sense of what Donq posted about it after you posted but being unfamiliar with it I wasn't really able to.

Dear Monty and Ace

So glad Monty you have seen this also and we can share our thoughts (if you wish on the series) although I am puzzled why you think you are like ‘Mr. Whispers’ as I would think you far from his character and would liken you more to ‘Capheus’ who is kind and has a lovely joyful spirit and is looking after his ailing mother…would you not agree?

Whispers is cold and calculated and is sinister and the polar opposite to you…in my opinion anyway. I have no idea which character I would be if I had to choose as each has their own gifts…I guess I would liken myself to Kala as she is a devout Hindu and I suppose the ‘spiritual’ one…but that would be it as unlike Kala I have no scientific background but I am interested in science especially when combined with spirituality. But I would be interested to see which character reminds you of me lol

I disagree with you in relation to Will and Riley although their relationship is romantic I feel it will become much deeper as the series continues…but I enjoy ALL the other characters and don’t feel the show would be the same without the dynamics of the other sense8’s. Thank you my friend for sharing your thoughts on it and I found out today that season 2 will air June 2016…oh I don’t know I can wait that long….!!!!

I am disappointed that you are unable to see this (via Netflix) as I was sure you would enjoy this and I was looking forward to discussing episodes with you and your take on it. While it is not a "spiritual" series there are definitely spiritual/religious connotations to it along with other controversial subjects. So I will try and give you a quick synopsis without spoiling the story. Monty please feel free to jump in with your insight also in case I forget something

It starts off with a woman (Angelica played by Daryl Hannah) who commits suicide but before she does she ‘connects’ with a new cluster…enter the sense8 (sensate meaning aware). You get to see 8 people from all backgrounds and from all over the world each sharing the same birth date (August 8). They all (remotely) witness Angelica’s death and seem to become ‘aware’ of each other at the same time.

Each episode is focused on building a background on each character as well as showing how each becomes aware of the others in their cluster. As the series progresses you can see how each learns how to ‘connect’ with each other and use their knowledge and skills to help them in whatever situation they are in. This character and cluster building takes up most of the first season but it ends with you hungering for more.

Angelica (Daryl Hannah) was part of another cluster and as the series develops (especially episode 12) you see or can make a guess as to why she killed herself. Jonas is one of Angelica’s cluster and he can also ‘connect’ with the new sensates and appears to be trying to help/save them from ‘Mr. Whispers’. Whispers is also a sense8 but has turned his back on his cluster and seems determined in destroying all other clusters. As the series comes to a finale it is revealed how Whispers connects to a sense8.

I haven’t given too much away as I don’t want to spoil it if you do happen to be able to watch it at some stage, but it is definitely worth it. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will probably watch it again twice more before the next season lol

As you know English is not my first language, (and I feel a bit lazy so, the following is the plot summary of sense8 I found on the internet.

Sense8 tells the story of eight strangers: Will (Smith), Riley (Middleton), Capheus (Ameen), Sun (Bae), Lito (Silvestre), Kala (Desai), Wolfgang (Riemelt), and Nomi (Clayton). Each individual is from a different culture and part of the world. In the aftermath of a tragic death they all experience through what they perceive as dreams or visions, they suddenly find themselves growing mentally and emotionally connected. While trying to figure how and why this connection happened and what it means, a mysterious man named Jonas tries to help the eight. Meanwhile, another stranger called Whispers attempts to hunt them down, using the same sensate power to gain full access to a sensate's mind (thoughts/sight) after looking into their eyes. Each episode reflects the views of the characters interacting with each other while delving deeper into their backgrounds and what sets them apart and brings them together with the others.

Capheus? Hmm...may be. Because I love to drive. But where is my 'Sun' when I needed a kung fu fighter? hahaha
You have a mix between Kala and Riley. As Riley is into an art, right? (Sorry, I watched many series after sense8 and kind of blur now).

I watched this series because its writers/creators, The Wachowski's used to created the Matrix. Sense8 goes beyond 'we perceive the world just as our brain tell us' as in the Matrix. I think the movie tried to tell about "the universal consciousness" or if using Carl Jung's term "collective unconsciousness". Nay, that's boring. Let's get back to Will and Riley. lol
I had a feeling that the movie told us about life in cyberspace, too. I'm here in Thailand but I still can "talk" and "connect" to you and our friends who lives thousands and thousands miles from me. I even can see my friends via Skype/video chat. hahaha. Isn't that amazing? Our consciousness seem to be connected as if they are one, the universal consciousness. If the internet which is only a material thing can do a lot like that, not to mention how the real spiritual thing, the universal consciousness can do for us!
Watching Will and Riley reminded me of some dating site I used to try on the internet. Sure, never success. hahaha

I have never seen this series, but having read your comments, particularly both Lorraines and Monty's descriptions, I am desperate now to watch it.. lol It is 'definitely' my kind of thing.

Thank you so much Monty and Lorraine... about sharing the post about Sense8.   If it was created by the Wachowski's Bros. ( Andy and Larry/ now Lana) of the Matrix films and directors of Cloud Atlas and other films,, I can see where it would have a strong spiritual consciousness intent behind it.

Having not seem shows yet... some of general ideas seems to be in the flavor of Dr. Michael Newtons, the deep-trance hypnosis explorer into Life Between Life and author of Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls, that we as Souls live connected with other Souls over numerous incarnations in a group called a "Group Soul".  Each Individual adding different lessons and experiences to the whole Group consciousness over many lifetimes...as the individuals and the group itself evolves.  Individuals in the "Group Soul" also move out for a time sometimes to connect with other "Group Souls" as learning experiences.   We are very closely connected on a spiritual, emotional and mental levels with others in our Group Soul in many physical incarnations..  Even if we don't always physically interact with them in every personality life we take on -- we remain connected.  Some  may be in a physical lifetime, while others may be some spending stretches of time in inner Consciousness life.  But this being a dramatic story they have to add that their are Beings out to get the group and such....etc. which may not be as true to real life "Group Soul consciousness",

Getting a feeling I would eventually like to see this series -- Season one will probably be on DVD from Amazon soon... and hopefully my Library System will also carry it to rent maybe in the future. So thanks so much for telling us about it Lorraine and Monty.

Seems to be more TV shows here in US all the time having some type of otherworldly or spiritual component to it to some degree.  Or maybe they are just the ones that interest me.

Hi all thanks for all the posts/replies. Sorry for not reaponding sooner but I've literally been knocked off my feet with the flu...just hit me suddenly and knocked me for six. Anyway I didnt want you all to think she's gone again...I'm here but will just stick to reading for now until I feel better.
