Many spiritual teachings speak of detachment, we are not the body, of an expanded awareness.
How frightful for the ego, to have to deal with such a separation.
Its own sense of being starting to leave itself, no longer can the finger be pointed between the eyes and claim here I'am, it seems on entering a room, awareness walks in, closely followed by the body.
These experiences must ignite panic mode in the mind, causing all manner of fear to surface, what if I separate from the body, will the body die, is it the devil trying to steal my soul and separate it from my body, will I lose my identity, will I cease to be.
Am I going insane, or is this the final jump, that gives access to the doorway.
Is the ego making its final grasps, as it senses its approaching death.
Is the coin about to flip, and, ego starts to serve the soul rather than self.
Or will fear triumph, and the ego breathe a sign of relief.
