Very often people are confused with this simple thought on silent meditation. A very simple analogy is imagining that we are in an airplane. Once aboard the aircraft, the engine starts and there is a lot of noise. We fasten our seat belts and wait for the plane to take off. The noise continues and the plane gains altitude. It goes up into the sky, above the clouds, but then what happens? It seems like the plane has become still. It is far above the clouds, it is in the tranquil blue skies. It looks like it is in complete stillness. Although it is flying at a speed of 800 kilometers per hour, it doesn’t show any signs of motion whatsoever. So is meditation. When we start, the world is full of disturbances, noises, and confusion. The environment and circumstances around us make us feel that it is impossible for the mind to be still. But the mind can become still. Slowly and steadily, the mind needs to be elevated like the aircraft that goes into the skies. The mind has to silently elevate itself till a point that it seems it is completely still. The actual mind may be moving at a so-called speed of 800 kilometers per hour, but the mind will seem still. There will be no thoughts. It is this thoughtlessness that can be compared to that still airplane up in the sky. And so, if our meditation evolves, improves, grows, we will be able to make the mind still, and in that stillness, we shall be able to realize the truth of who we are. AiR

That is a great analogy about Meditation Air, one I have not heard before. Thank you for sharing. Love and light Kaz

Yes Air, I agree with you totally on the true Silent Mind meditation from my experiences of it and when one experiences it they are open to Soul Awareness and quieting the chatting mind etc
But there is another type of Silent Mind experience some people have.. which is not the same but some think it is... it is the relative silence below the mind, more aligned to the astral -- just thought I wqould point that out.
Yours Air certainly sounds the the first of the two experiences... thanks for sharing.
