Normally the world is such that there are waves of happiness and unhappiness just like day and night; we are glad and sad; there is pleasure and pain; there is loss and gain; there is sun and rain because that is how the world is.
But for those who have realized the truth that they are not the body but the Divine Spirit, they detach themselves from the pain because it is the body that actually experiences the pain. We are internally full of Bliss, Ananda, Joy, Happiness, and we can remain in this state if only we realize the truth that we are IN the body, but we are NOT the body. Body is just like a garment and this experience on the earth is a spiritual experience in a physical body. The moment we realize it, we detach ourselves from the body although we live in it. Once this Journey on this earth is over, our true self gets merged with the Creator and we continue to enjoy the Happiness, Bliss, the mukti, the moksh, the Nirvana and finally the enlightenment always.
It is a challenge for us to be able to realize the truth that we are not the body but we are the Spirit. It is this realization that is the source of happiness, unending happiness. Otherwise, we can be happy but this happiness will be like the waves that come and go. This happiness will never be permanent. We need to be like the sun that shines, knowing very well that soon the darkness will appear and so our happiness will set. We try to make ourselves happy but if we want to be happy all the time, then we have to realize the truth that we are not this body, but we are the Divine Spirit.
