Often I ask this question to myself, and I realized that, in the past, I didn’t even know what I was seeking. I just wanted to be happy; wanting this and that, hoping that it will make me happy! Sometimes, I got what I wished for and it made me happy. Sometimes, my expectations were not fulfilled and I did not get what I wished for, and I became miserable. Then I asked myself that why was I seeking if I was becoming happy and unhappy. The cycle of happiness and unhappiness kept going on like day and night: There was pleasure. There was pain. There was darkness. There was light. There was sadness.
I didn’t want to be unhappy, and so I started probing: Is there a way for me to be happy all the time? Is there a way for me to be not miserable? Is there a way where the sun shines 24 hours, like in the North Pole, during summer? Is there a way?
I found that there is a way! There’s a way of contentment and fulfillment, where you learn to be happy, no matter what. You in fact just delete all expectations. Instead of having expectations, you have acceptations, and you just accept everything that comes as the Divine Will. So, by living a life of acceptations, you stop getting miserable with expectations because expectations are bound to make you unhappy. This is what I learned. Instead of keep seeking this and that and getting into a cycle of pleasure and pain, I stopped seeking. I started accepting, and my life has truly changed! I am happy all the time; everything that comes to me comes to me as a gift and I’m grateful for it, I accept it and I am joyous. I live in Ananda, in bliss, in heaven, and you should try it too!
