What is realization? Realization is the truth that we are not the physical body, the physical form. We are the energy within that physical form that gives life to whoever we are. Unfortunately, all of us are not able to see that energy. We are just able to see the physical body because of this illusionary world, because of our mind which makes us believe that we are the ego, and because of the senses that make us crave for pleasures of the senses. Our mind is not able to focus and contemplate on the energy that lies beyond this physical form. The moment we are able to see the energy itself, that is .. beyond this physical form, we are realized. We realize that this physical form is just something that our energy has embodied and this physical form will be dropped. What will continue on its journey is the energy, the chi, the prana, the spirit, the soul and the atman. It is immortal, it never dies. It changes form, but it never becomes extinct. It can only merge with the Universal Soul. The atman can merge with the paramatman on self-realization.

Soul entering the Soul plane and beholds its self as pure Soul, realizing its purpose in eternity, to be a co-worker aith God

This is what Self-Realization is in our spiritual path. Now there is other things that could happen to others like out of body experences were a person sees his body laying in bed knowing that one is Soul and has a body, giving that person proof that he's more than the body, but doesent see his soul in full glory as he would on the Soul plane. Now don't het me wrong, by Soul Travel or Astral projevtiun one does reallize he is soul, and is a big realization for him or her . But on the spiritual path when one has sel realization after returning to the body Soul is like awaken and can control the mind and other facelties better with love and the higher vitures. Now to know you are soul that has a body still gives one a higher good fealing to lead a better life
