Dreams are funny things…some have theorized that our dreams are as Much ‘reality’ as our waking life, and there are times when I might believe it. I do not dream of the past, or anytime before my own life now; some people now say that we can dream of alternate timelines, but who knows? ‘Time’ seems to pass at a slower, steadier rate in our waking state; memories seem easier to hold, thus encouraging us to believe our dream-states are Not as real….yet once again, I spent a portion of last night being ‘confused’.
For example, In one dream last night, I had been shopping (I’m only mentioning the parts that relate to confusion)…it does not surprise me that the things I purchased were things that I might buy in my waking state, were the opportunity to arise, but the Confusion set in after I left. I had parked some distance from the sale and was driven in Another car back to where I had parked…I tried to explain where to go and told the driver to look for a gold Ford Taurus, which was a car I had many years ago. Halfway there I Remembered I now drove a Pathfinder and not the Taurus, and told him so.
We had to stop at a house before we got to my car and I started to take my purchases inside…my driver (a real person/being) reminded me I could not Stay there, and then I ‘remembered’ that was Not my house, that I still had to Get to my own home.
Point is, we wake from our dreams and sometimes get confused if we try to remember them; we have to Think in order to hold the details of the experience in our minds. Is that, also, what I try to do in my dream-state, when I get confused and must ‘remember’ the realities of my waking life (like, which car I have now), so as to experience my dream better?
(The 'confusion and remembering' is different, to me, from 'lucid dreaming' because I now have control over parts of my dreams, so for example, I got a better price for my purchases because I chose to Negotiate.)
Do you ever get confused in a dream and try to ‘remember’ who you are, what your life is like, in ‘reality’?
