Premonitions

Historically seers, prophets and visionaries were reverred and respected. In many instances, their ability to see into the future could be very helpful to their people. Visions of drought or famine, might have given their communities time to store away more provisions for lean times. Or the threat of war, might enable them to strengthen and fortify their homes and cities. To be more vigilent. In modern times, we can use those intuitive feelings to protect ourselves. Nothing about the future is set in stone. Sometimes a premonition will come as a warn or a sign. To take care of the ones we love and not to take our current situation for granted or to see life as unchangable. Value what you have and care for it. My question is - Do you believe in premonitions. What are your thoughts on the subject, and have you ever had one?

To get to the point, yes, I believe in this stuff. I used to have this ability. It happened to me from time to time. It was not a bit deal, hmm..., it might be, but it was only personal stuff such as I should not do this or that thing and when I ignored that sign/forewarning, it really brought me big trouble later (divorce etc.) hahaha.

I think most of us here believe in this kind of thing. So, I'll skip this part and go to another part, why premonition/precognition is forbidden in some situations? As we have seen it many times in the movie about Time traveling or Back to the future; if somethings in the past was changed, then the future (which is now) will also change, so it's forbidden to change anything in the past so that it will not affect the future.

If someone who has premonition/precognition, and knows beforehand that some terrible thing will happen and cost so many lives. He/she might try to warn everyone. Sure, most (if not all) people would never believe in him/her. In this aspect, it is as if the future is preordained and no one could alter it.

There was a good movie about this, Final Destination (there were 4 Sequels which were not as good as the first one. lol). Here is its sotryline:
Alex is boarding his plane to France on a school trip, when he suddenly gets a premonition that the plane will explode. When Alex and a group of students are thrown off the plane, to their horror, the plane does in fact explode. Alex must now work out Death's plan, as each of the surviving students falls victim.

The movie tried to tell that on one cannot cheat on death.

However, my point is that why many (spiritual) persons who really have this kind of premonition don't try to do something to stop disaster and saving so many lives?
Is it possible that, those seers know something beyond our understandings? I mean about trying to change the future's course. This reminds me of how Buddha died. Someone offer food (pork) to him. He knew beforehand that pork was spoiled/poisoning (by nature) but as he was a monk, he could not refuse that food offerings as an alms to him. And he become so sick and died very soon after that.
Did this story tell us something? If it was the case that other persons were going to eat that spoiled food, Would Buddha stopped them? I honestly don't know.

I also was thinking about the good quote from my favorite si-fi movie, Stargate. But I cannot remember it rightly. It goes like this: the future is predestine/predeterminedd by the persons who shape it.

Hi Kaz. I have premonitions all the time; I had two in the past week in fact. Now, these aren't the sort of premonitions you're talking about; they're ordinary everyday happenings that serve to show I'm in tune with the energy around me (my interpretation of what they're about). But I would still call them premonitions.... unless someone else has a better description for them.

Example from yesterday: I shared a particular cliche with someone, a cliche I hadn't heard or thought about for years. And less than an hour later, I was watching a TV program and one of the characters mentioned the exact same cliche. This sort of thing happens to me dozens of times a year, and sometimes within a minute or two rather than an hour or hours later. And it happens more frequently now than when I was younger. 

The premonitions you're describing I've never had. I understand that people can have such premonitions. Whether or not the future can be changed etc. is an  extremely interesting question. I've never really explored that topic.

Just my thoughts on subject. Fascinating question Karen. Yes, I have had premonitions. I think being aware of astrological energies enhances the ability to some degree for myself.


I agree it is not always a fixed outcome but then "certain energies" are karmically already set in motion it seems also. Some premonition visions or dreams can come from a psychic astral level while others are from a higher level of consciousness. The ones from the astral are more fluid and have a greater chance of being altered or changed to some degree. Sometimes we can have them and have no idea why we had them being we weren't directly connected to situation of the premonition.

Some bigger issues in individuals and the world are karmic vibrational destiny to me. Those types of premonitions itself are coming from our collective Higher Self or the Collective Unconscious in Jungian terms effecting large groups of peoples and countries. The more people involved the harder it is to change karmic patterns already set into motion. For individuals the chance of changing them is a bit greater perhaps - but then the question is maybe also - is it something that needs to happen to move to next step of their journey? The ones from the Higher have a more - this needs to happens quality to it to set some karmic balance into play or advance to next step.

Premonitions are in some sense reading the future in the present. So in some ways it is aligned to using divinatory tools in examining future possibilities. Both can tap into the same levels of consciousnesses. But the divinatory ones, if taken as insight, have a more workable choice energy connected with it.

Going back to your original question,,, thinking about if some are or are not set in stone as you said... some natural disasters of let's say hurricanes, volcano's, tsunami's etc - many do get premonitions about them before they happen. Those do seem more set in stone?. It is fascinating question.

Another question that came to my mind - Are premonitions always warning of a negative happening or are their ones that warn of positive happening also? - or negative ones that can lead to a positive outcome as you said about people getting ready after a seer had a challenging premonition? just questions upon question.

I wonder where everything IS, you know? All the information from Forever; all of it. I understand ‘just enough’ of dimensional/frequency and records to know that nothing that is ever conveyed, from words to music to Thought, etc, seems to ever be lost; the synchronicities and ‘déjà vu’ moments we experience are perhaps indicative both of our innate design (like radio stations, which is how I saw it as a child) – are we Designed to connect to one station, or another, better? Also we know there are those who are simply more In Tune with the unseen energy that is available to tell us of past or future, etc.


I’m going to add something kind of wild, Karen – I’m glad for the insights have been mentioned by others…it’s the first time I’ve talked about this Here…when do things like premonitions dissolve into Realization? I’ve seen it, I’ve done it, but something in me wants to keep it empirical and not “push the envelope” – is it because it is So Huge??

I want to give example I have used somewhere:

If I go to buy a piece of furniture, like DR chairs, there are things that perhaps I Know, in my normal human life (and don’t think about the How or Why of it anymore): I may know by the design who the Maker of the chair is. Is it a Thomasville? Hanover? Woodbridge? Etc. Also, especially if I am buying used chairs, I want to see the scuff marks, the dents and any damage, but my conscious mind knows how to Evaluate anything that will determine whether the chair is worth the purchase, etc. This, we understand.

What I see now, is that the very Design of the chair tells me about the Designer of the chair. If I am willing to pay Attention, Karen. I can Connect with the chair (or with Anything) to understand the Mind of the designer when he first created the chair, because it has to do with the same conveyance we give into our Words….the energy (signature), if you will, that is Left, for all to see, eventually.


I know It is simply, a point of Connection. Was/is the designer left-handed or right-handed? Introvert or extrovert? A family man/woman or a loner? Was there a tragedy that caused the chair design to be created in the first place – and how about the health of the designer? To me, it seems that So Many things become available for us to Know, as we discover the Connection within conveyance of energies.

And it’s Scary sometimes. (Or maybe I’m just having a premonition that it will be scary? lol)

As a kid, I always had dreams, that would happen shortly after, nothing major, could be how a match I was playing would turn out.
And those scenario's, where you walk into a room, and swear you have been there before, the exact same people in the exact same places.
Then when I started entertaining spirituality, I started using tarot cards, and in a short period of time, I was getting premonitions on a regular basis, it came so fast and so strong, it kind of scared me.
One, I will never forget, driving a fully loaded artic truck (that's about 40 ton), when I started getting these flashes of images in my mind, these images were of traffic at a stand still, I paid no attention until I came around the next corner, yeah, you guessed it, traffic at a stand still, my heart was in my mouth trying to bring that thing to a stop in time, I did, but it was close, imagine the consequences.
I gave up the tarot shortly after that, the premonitions were coming too strong and too often, I didn't want to know, what was going to happen, and the main reason, I viewed it as a side road, a distraction from the path itself, not sure why.
I strongly believe, we come in here with a set life plan, we can go the main route or take the side roads, but spirit will make sure we are on track, so coming from that point of view, how much can we change the future, I believe problems arise when we try to influence outcomes through spirit for personnel greed.
I have also heard of a law, not sure how true it is, that we can use spirit to help others or ourselves, but not both, and then again if it all comes from the same source, why would spirit give us premonitions and not expect us to act on them, I believe our potential to change that which is laid out for us, limited.

Hi Karen

I have always lived with premonitions since I was a child...but more often than not, not realise they were premonitions until afyer the event, I would just get a glimpse of something and my gut would turn over and I would feel uneasy about what I saw...from fires to earthquakes to plane crashes...my mother used to have an awful time trying to calm me down as a child due to the visions. I would cry because I could do nothing to stop the events and who could I or even my mother call? The police in another country explaining that a child has seen a image of an horrific accident...or explosion...or a plane fall from the sky? I had other premonitions too with family members. I hid my dad's keys once to stop him being hurt in an accident I delayed him and he said the following morning that had he gone when he wanted he would have been in the accident. I was sent home from school at 12 with hard of breathing and feeling sick suddenly in class. I said to my mum that my grandad in the uk was ill and wanted her to get in touch with him...but we had no phone...4 days later we received a letter saying that grandad had an angina attack and was admitted into hospital at the exact same time I was finding it hard to breathe. My premonitions got stronger as I got older in relation to world events and tragedies. I started smelling gas and smoke for no reason and would dream of fire engines but it was all too cryptic to try and piece together and why bother because what could I do? So I started to ignore it as best as I could. I would push down the feeling into the pit of my stomach and try and distract myself from the images and dreams, until they finally stopped. Again I have managed to do this with earthquakes etc. Approximately a month before my dad passed...I heard a voice say in church "remember death is nothing" and I immediately heard my dads voice and I started to cry and begged for more time. A week or so I forgot about it. 4 weeks later I heard a voice to go check on my dad...I ignored it because I was busy....again stronger and louder check on your dad....so I tried to ring him...once more and final time the voice said firmly GO SEE YOUR DAD NOW. Well you all know the rest. The angels said last year to look up and keep looking...then the planes started to disappear/crash. But who would believe me? Like if I say I'm stocking up on tinned food and bottled water because I have a 'feeling' people would think I'm mad? How do I KNOW or think I know these things....well the answer is I dont...I just follow my gut and intuition and hope I'm wrong.

Dear Karen,

First I hesitated to tell this, but what the hex, I'm among my best (spiritual) friends, right?

All my life I only (romantic) hugged 3 women. One was just my poppy love, another two were my ex-wives now. hahaha. You have to understand that I was kind of naive and only focused on my studying and never had any girlfriend. Then, I dedicated myself into spiritual path. When I met my first, how to call?, puppy love or my first girlfriend in my life, that time all of my spiritual friends talked surprisingly, "Oh! Monty got a girlfriend! Unbelievalble!" hahaha.
Anyway, back to our premonition, I got this kind of premonition three times when I...urh...first hugged my (going to be) girlfriend and wives. Please don't smile or laugh. It's serious, ok? :-)
The first one, I got a vision that she was holding a knife in her hand and going to stab me! Really! I will skip what she did to me later but it suffices to say that my premonition was more than right!
The second one, I got a vision that there were lots of worms on her hair/head! (like Medusa) Scary, right? But that time I thought it was nonsense. And as you already knew, my premonition was right again, after 10 years passed.
The third and the last one, this one was the most scary. I got no vision at all. Nothing good nor bad, just so deep void. It was so strange why I felt that way when I was hugging someone who was going to be my wife. After 12 years passed, it turned out that she was a psychopath! I literally mean it. Not because she cheated on me. But let me skip telling you why because it is not polite to talk badly about my ex. Besides, it's against my spiritual practice, too. :-)

I share all this among my best spiritual friends, just for the sake of talking. And it might also be benefit for someone else who might come across to read it.
Sometimes, you have to trust you premonition/precognition, no matter how strange it seems to be. :-)
