Hi Ace I have just heard that tonight's moon is both a Black and supermoon. I understand the term of a supermoon but would love to know more about this 'BLACK' moon? I have tried to look it up online but there is very little to no information on it and its astrological effects. So I was wondering and wishing that you could possibly shed some 'light' on this event. Thank you as always Love and (moon)Light

Hi Angel,
interesting questions,,, I have heard of both of those terms: I can understand why this would be a Supermoon, but not sure why this is more a Black Moon which is a less known astrological point in ones chart which always exists.
A SUPERMOON is the coincidence of a full moon or a new moon with the closest approach the Moon makes to the Earth on its elliptical orbit, resulting in the largest apparent size of the lunar disk as seen from Earth. Does it have extra influence on the Earth itself being so close? that is question
( hmmm... it's a new moon today Feb 18, 2015 - right before the Sun moves into Pisces - So this Pisces-Aquarius cusp is right about where we ARE as an evolving species on the Procession of the Equinoxes - leaving the Age of Pisces and moving into Age of Aquarius).
Here is some of on-line sources about this Mythological term "The Black Moon".
The Black or also called the Dark moon or the Dark Goddess Lilith Moon... has to do with the mythological story of Lilith ( there are different ones in different cultures.) It does relate in some ways to energy and symbolic meanings of Feminine aspects of Pluto and Scorpio.
LILITH - The Great Goddess, and the Goddess was the Earth, and the Earth was the Goddess Lilith. The origins of the cult of the Great Goddess lie hidden in the dim twilight of prehistoric time of evolution. The Goddess ruled for hundreds of thousands of years. In the course of time, the Mother-Goddess was overthrown and driven under, and the triumph of the most patriarchal of archetypes - Yahweh, God the Father, Allah - was complete in the Judaic, Christian and Muslim worlds. It was only in the tamed form of Mary, Mother of God, that some aspects of the Mother Goddess were permitted to survive. Various Black Madonnas in ancient sanctuaries still bear witness to her.
One of the dark goddesses, like Persephone, Hecate, and Kali, Lilith expresses the feminine power of the divine, creative life force. If we follow the mythological trail of these dark goddesses back in time to find the source of their darkness and negativity, we discover not only the possibility of a major shift in the collective human image of the feminine, but also some deep undercurrent of unease that needs to be acknowledged and healed in our personal lives.
Lilith first appeared in Sumerian mythology about 5,000 years ago. As "handmaid" to the Goddess Inanna, Queen of Heaven, she would gather men in from the fields for the sacred rites. In another Sumerian story, Lilith lives in the sacred huluppu tree that Inanna has planted in her holy garden, accompanied by the snake who cannot be charmed and the wild Anzu-bird and her young. These creatures are part of Lilith's untamed nature and have knowledge to give Inanna, who is not yet ready to accept it. So Inanna calls in her brother, Gilgamesh, to cut down the tree. The serpent is killed, the Anzu-bird and its family fly off to the mountains, and Lilith departs for the wilderness.
Hebrew myth of Lilith as the first wife of Adam. According to one version of the story, Yahweh creates both Adam and Lilith from earth, but with one important difference: he uses impure sediments to create Lilith, whereas Adam has been fashioned from pure dust. Because of this, Adam expects Lilith to be submissive to him, but, claiming equality, she will not be put beneath him and flies away to lifelong exile near the Red Sea, where she mates with evil spirits and bears scores of demonic children. Meanwhile, Yahweh again tries to create a partner for Adam, this time taking one of his ribs and turning it into Eve - now she is a creation from Adam and not one in her own right, like Lilith. Myth has it that the jealousy and rage generated by Adam's rejection motivate Lilith to come in the night for her revenge, strangling babies and giving men wet dreams to sap their strength. Amulets were worn to ward her off.
The Three Liliths
Astrologically, there are three Liliths and you need three different ephemerides to find them. She doesn't make it easy. These include the Asteroid Lilith, found orbiting in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter; the controversial Dark Moon Lilith, said to be the Earth's second Moon by those who have claimed to see it over the last four centuries; and Black Moon Lilith, an abstract, geometrical point in space.
Asteroid Goddesses Lilith is described as signifying resentment and inner rage; she sets herself apart, flies into exile. She is fiercely independent. She refuses to submit to the assumed authority of another or to compromise her beliefs. Lilith asks us to deal with confrontation and issues of equality in relationship.
Dark Moon Lilith, like a dust cloud, absorbs the light into itself, a very different process from that of our Sun-reflecting Moon. Whereas the reflective Moon represents personal, subjective feelings, the Dark Moon represents a primal, impersonal, creative instinct that seeks identification apart from the physical and emotional realms. When her expression is self-centered, she can be quite negative; when the emotional content is directed to higher centers, she enhances creative, mental, aesthetic, and even spiritual expression.
Black Moon Lilith - The Black Moon point is where we are lured into our more self-centered illusions for the purpose of purging negative desires, thereby leading us to the deeper truth within our hearts, the longings and yearnings of our souls. She insists that we feel through, letting go, and surrendering to something essential and transparent in us that is primary - the bedrock beneath the shifting sands, the passion of the soul.

Does this have anything to do with new moon and dark moon, or am i overanylising it, i have always put down the fact that energy is from our diets, never thought the moon could manupulate our energies, maybe in subtle ways, but thats because its light, if i was look at the sun instead i would feel alot more than what the moon has to offer, for those who dont understand, how could we explain in simple terms, that this could just be a light sensory effect, sunbathing is nice right, and the beach where we would have water nearby for refreshment also, so i guess the moon favours our garden, just like the sun and beach, if the moon was approached positively in a garden, it could be a very nice experiance, what would you think other than unconsious mind, what could we consiously ask ourself from this topic/moon

The New Moon is part of the Dark side of the Moon cycle (happens every month) when it is less visible in sky... Angel's question was about the Black Moon ,, which isn't the same and which I tried to answer about it for her as best I could.

Tonight is a full moon very beautifull, for me the moon is a feeling of wonder, distracts me from thinking, which is good, i think too much and a break works well just by looking at the moon

Hi ace thank you again for all the info on February's Black moon. I really enjoyed reading about it as I had never heard of it before and was unable to find proper info about it, so once again thank you My question is: tonight's full moon (5th March) is an 'Apogee'(micro moon) which we will not see again til 2032, I was just wondering what astrological effects would this have on Earth? and indeed her inhabitants? Will the moon's effects be less due to the distance from earth tonight? I would be interested to hear your insights on this moon. Last few days I have felt the same (if not a little stronger) pull on my energy, as in lethargic, and just wondering if it could be due to this Apogee moon tonight? Once again I thank you Ace for your time and explanation on these astrological events. Love and Light my friend

Hi Lorraine,
The Apogee is the furthest from the Earth point of the Moon's orbit, and the Perigee is the closest point. You might know that the orbit of the Moon around the Earth isn't circular, it's an ellipse, and when the Moon is in Perigee, it is noticeably closer to the Earth and looks bigger.
Really not sure about Apogee and effects it has on people, if and how it shifts the energy of full moon etc. To me a more important way of trying to understand the effects of any Moon cycle is to look into what Signs it is taking place in and any significant aspects it is making with other planets. That changes the tone and qualities of it's energetic influence to me.
This Full Moon, taking place March 5, 2015 at 6:05 pm GMT is in the sign of Virgo ( Moon in Virgo - Sun in opposite sign of Pisces). It is very close, by degree, to Neptune transiting through Pisces at the present time. That energy influence could of left some people feeling kind of dreamy and unsettled a bit in emotions or mind the past few days and could stay with some people until the New Moon /Solar Eclipse on March 20th. But really the whole chart is needed to be looked at.
But, how it effects anybody, either generally or individually would depend on birth chart of person or a country etc. if your talking effects. Nothing works in a vacuum so there are always multiple energies involved in real psychological spiritual astrology.

Once again thank you so much for this Ace. I truly find it all fascinating. As you know I am scorpio with pluto ruling planet but I think I have an affiliation with Neptune's energy so maybe I am affected by it through Neptune...I dont know. My dreams the last week are more vivid and active which may explain the lethargy I am experiencing although I feel my sleep has improved greatly at night...im now getting nearly 6 -7 hrs sleep compared to 3 or 4 a night. Sometimes I find the more I manage to sleep the more I want lol. Anyway I will look up my birth chart and try and see where I (my sign) am in relation to the current moon phase. Thanks again Ace and I hope you dont mind me keep asking you but I feel very confident in your explanations and knowledge, its like a little light bulb lights up after reading your replies. Thank you Love and Light

HI Lorraine,
thank you... totally my pleasure in trying to answers your questions Angel,,, they are always interesting ones.
I had told some people in chat room when we first went into Pisces around Feb 20ish they should watch there dreams more for next month.
Generally people do have a more active dream life when the Sun is transiting through the Water signs and especially Pisces. So not surprised at all about you sleeping more and dreaming more.
