Hi Inuni, Welcome to our forum. P.S. Don't know why every time I greet any new member, he/she is gone after that. Hope you will hang around. Nay, please hang around, I beg you!

Lol, no begging my friend, its not fitting for a man of your experience n intelligence. I so enjoyed the depth of your writing ,I have to reread it all again lol then perhaps I might have something worthy to add lol, I love the Asian mind(not to mention the beauty of the women lol) I believe that generations of reading konji(forgive my spelling please) has knit neural pathways to translate perception in a much different if not deeper significance then the miss spelled phenetic anarchy of the western languages lol, this is probably why, in my opinion, eastern philosophies are so much more coherent ( for the exception of the gosho lol) I'm a big fan of the lotus sutra & taoizm, but regrettable I don't read anymore and so much is lost in translation. I once read the tao ti ching by translated Jonathan star backwards, lol, and it made just as much sense if not more! Lol no western book could boast such a feat! Lol you have a good heart thank you for enduring me, I hope someday I can benefit you, namaste' -

Hi Inuni,
Thanks for your kind and friendliness.
Kanji, not Kunji, right? As the latter means thingy in Tamil. hahaha
Yes, kanji, as it's the Japanese term for the Chinese characters which literally means "Han characters." Though Zen (Buddhism) originated in India, but Japanese Zen is so vivid. Along with Haiku (a very short form of Japanese poetry). I love them both.
The gosho? Collected writings of Nichiren? I honestly don't know. Hahaha. I mean, yes, I didn't read much about some "sects" in Buddhism even I kind of read a lot.
Hmm...I cannot say about Eastern philosophies (are so much more coherent). Let me put it in this way (in my opinion on Western philosophies), German philosophy is so deep. The problem is sometimes it's too deep. While French philosophy is so reasonable. Again, the problem is sometimes it's too reasoned. hahaha. I think that German philosophy thinks with its heart while French philosophy, its brain. But we do need both of them, don't we? :-)
What I try to say is (and I think I'm in the position to say this as I'm from the East) Eastern philosophy tends to be so individual (subjective). Yes, each individual could get it easily. But the problem is the way to explain it to other. I think in this aspect, Western philosophy is better.
As for "lost in translation", I agree. Ancient Chinese language was a pictogram/pictograph. So, it's so hard to understand it (not to mention about translating it). I read somewhere (if I remember it right) that The Tao Te Ching is one of the most translated books in history, alongside the Bible and the Quran. :-)
P.S. You already benefit me by your post. I feel so good that, finally, there's a new member replied my post and isn't gone away. Thanks. Don't know why, I'm old but still like to hear compliment. hahaha

Lol, so glad for your correspondence as well. And you sound far more read then myself, but if I could remember half of what I've read, I'd be a smart man lol as far as German philosophy being from the heart, let us agree to disagree lol my first thought was of Frederick nieche(hmm my spelling again, sorry) said"kick a man in the gutter is a kindness to him" &"that which doesn't kill you makes you stronger" I view as false. But I do esteem Carl Jung particularly because he was not a closet occultist , but I have no respect for Freud, a failed archeologist and a projectionist of his own perversions lol. Only my opinion however lol. I would have responded earlier but the site sent me no notification, and I found your reply by chance.the mechanics of site are confusing to me,lol which isn't saying much I'm not to bright lol. O I wish I could go back n reread what you wrote so I could respond more adequately, my apologies. But if I may make a humble request of you, your profile picture doesn't suit you, I spent valentines in the hospital, because I used to be a smoker, perhaps a pic that would better represent your love and light, you have so much heart you offer freely and so much more of it you have yet to share for the benefit of others. Your benefiting others has not been in vain. I have 3 x wives lol and I love them all, and all my x girlfriends for that matter lol ,it was not for nothing. You will live long and prosper...for others -

Hi Inuni,
How come I just saw your post? Sorry.
I had to read with two reasons: for my spiritual searching and my career (my job has something to do with book).
Agree to disagree? Is that disagreement by agreement? :-) It's ok. You already gave me lot of compliment, so you can disagree with me. No problem. hahaha.
Nietzsche? I used to translate his "Thus Spoke Zarathustra." No, no, not from German but English. I liked what he said that “It is my ambition to say in ten sentences what other men say in whole books—what other men do not say in whole books.”. Hmm...the first time I read that I had to reread it again before I got it. lol
Agree about Jung. As for Freud, hmm...I'm not sure if I like him or not. :-) I read somewhere that once Freud was asked to name three great psychologists in the world. He said, "Dostoevsky, Goethe and..." he added with a smile, "as for the last one I could not say. Humility prevented."
Hahaha! ok,ok. I has already changed my picture. The point is I'm a camera phobia and have less and less pictures of mine. My new photo was from a few years ago in some book seminar with my friend. I'm sorry if this is going to be my excuse but I have a chronic pain for more than 30 years and somehow smoking does help to relieve my pain. :-)
Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad to hear it (again). hahaha.
