Karen - I want to make a further comment about the book Eat, Pray, Love because I am reading it through at evenings for the second time - like you, I see things in it I want to Remember, you know? It's not the type of book to become a religious text, no; but no matter how she saw it when she started, she, like others has been Used to bring a message across that I Appreciate.
Having never been to an Ashram (and had never Heard of one until I came to the GodLight), I would have had no idea what she was talking about had she not been able to describe everything so Well, yet she shares all of her experiences straight from the heart. She really is a gifted writer, in my opinion, and one who brings a point of view that will touch the hearts of those who are Looking, you know? Just 'average people' like us, out here, searching for a Connection to God when there may be no basis otherwise...
At the beginning of chapter 46 she says, "Every religion in the world has a subset of devotees who seek a direct, transcendent experience with God, excusing themselves from fundamentalist, scriptural or dogmatic study in order to personally encounter the divine."
Especially because she was Not brought up Christian I can feel more open about her statement to this; this is what I was thinking about, in part, when I replied to Robert's thread about a Covenant. (though that was not his direct point, it Reminded me)
These are the people who transcend religions, religious differences; these are the people who experience Change, in a spiritual way. Even for those who experience it, it is not always seen at first that the person's particular experience is not the Right one for Everyone, but patient pursuit of understanding the fullness of the experience allows for a growth that brings Embracement of all, in the way we are Hoping for.
I remember the first time I shared aloud, with a friend I had met online, about the experience I had with Jesus. The Deep one, you know - the one that I had kept Secret, because so few in my world seem to Understand it or desire it. This was in 2010; the young man I shared with was Buddhist and listened intently to my story. At the end, he said, gee, that sounds like kundalini.
What?? At the time I knew nothing of Buddhism and we had been sharing some teachings and views…It was one of those times when my Foundation was shaken, as you and I have talked about before, because even though I naturally loved All people, wasn't My way (the way of Jesus) the Only truth?? How could this truly be the Same experience?
It was another one of my Beginnings, those times that slowly began to change my world for the Better. My guides gave me a single, channeled message last year (because I talk with them but really do not trance or channel), and this is how it ended:
“Walk in Love, dear children, for we Know where we have been. Walk in Love, for it is the matter that holds All things together. Walk in Love, for only Love calls all to itself without partiality, without prejudice.”
