Astrology Symbolism - JUPITER

The next two planetary archetypes and principles we will explore will be Jupiter and Saturn. They are more universal in mode .. effecting groups of people, both are "teachers" per say but their lessons are almost contradictory at times. Jupiter beams with Optimistic and Freedom while Saturn is limiting, discerning and can be at times Pessimistic to some. Jupiter is Expansive while Saturn’s energy can be Restrictive. Essentially in life BOTH lessons or medicines are needed even if one is more difficult to swallow then the other. Jupiter takes one year to go through each sign on it’s trip around the zodiac and Saturn takes 2 ½ years to go though each. Both of them effect a generation of people born with those planetary placements in a particulars sign.

Jupiter: Planetary Principle of Expansion and Integration
Think of the time you had the most fun in your life, you felt the most open and free,, this is Jupiter archetype at it most expansive. Jupiter (Zeus- King of the Gods) is the largest of all the planets, aptly reflecting its principle that offers a grander, more expansive vision of reality. It is able to see the bigger picture in all things. Jupiter’s energetic archetype, by Jove, is filled with fun, humor and mirth , giving and sharing, opportunity and growth, happiness and joy.  It opens up and expands any other energy it touches. It is the Midas touch in action.



Some Keywords of Jupiter are: expandsion and growth, Jupiter elevates and uplifts, seeking that which is better or higher, it improves and magnifies, success, honor, abundance, happiness, and good fortune, magnanimity, optimism. In addition Jupiter corresponds to a concern with moral and philosophical ideals and principles, with long-range or broad perspectives, with the urge for intellectual and cultural breadth, and more generally with the striving for breadth of experience (e.g., through travel, wide reading, inner exploration, etc.).


 Jupiter has two main principles- Expansion and Intergration ( illustrated by drawing below)
From one central point of it expanses outward, touching more and more. The arrows point out from cental circle.
The second drawing the arrows all point in towards the central circle ,,this illustrates the ability of Jupiter's archetype to intergrate many differnt ideas and issues into one man focus or breath of understanding.



Lets us look at this above principles in action on all levels of our being: Jupiter touches each one of the symbolic elements  of Fire, Air, Water, and Earth and what they symbolically represent:

Jupiter on the Material Physical level ( Earth element)  Abundance, Good Luck and Fortune .. it is the wanting to and ability to give and share with others. Sustenance.   Prosperity . Principles of generosity, physical, gifting,  being a benefactor, volunteering time and/or money. It is being open and receptive to all who are in need. Freedom and Justice. Wining the lottery. Opportunities to shine.

Jupiter on the Emotional ( Water element level) is correlated to the energy of Joy, Happiness, Peacefulness and Balanced Contentment, to be able to give and receive heart-felt emotions from and to others. - emotional Expansion and Abundance, Compassion of wanting and ability to help and heal others. . Feeling uplifted, Buoyant . Humor and Laughter - especially kinds that lighten the load  to all they touch.  It is being open and receptive to all who are in need emotionally. Has to do with Mercy towards others.

Jupiter on the Mental ( Air element level) is the ability to be mentally open and accepting of different ideas.  Jupiter is at home here being that it is consisted by astrologers as the Higher Octave of the waking conscious Mind (mercury) while Jupiter is called the Higher Abstract Mind is some schools.  It is Non-judgemental comparative thinking. Broadminded approachs to learning. Principle and ability to be able to accept and integrate lots of different ideas together into one coherent understanding. Accepting of different people, cultures, languages, mythologies and religions.  Jupiter is correlated with Teaching and Learning, and Higher Education --  Jupiter is connected to Wisdom, Philosophies, Beliefs, Abstract thinking, mathematics, Quantum physics Broadmindedness in all avenues of study.  Openness to Alternate worldviews that illuminate our minds with a fresh approach to life-issues. Seeing the Bigger picture. The schools of New Thought or Mind Science would be a combination of a mental/spiritual energy of Jupiter.

Jupiter on the Spiritual (fire element level)  is  Expansion of Consciousness, Illumination, Opening up to the True Spirit of Religion beyond any confining dogmas. Search or Questing for Truth, Discovery and archetypical insights, true Intuition, Search for True Spiritual Happiness, Bringing together seemingly divergent spiritual understanding.  It is being open and receptive to all who is in need spiritually. Generosity of spirit -  Gratefulness and Thankfulness. Being aligned with the abstract mind it is the Home of Archetypes which is the casual blueprints behind latter manifestations of ideas and concepts. And which eventually also manifest on the material plane.


In what ways has Jupiter's energy touched your life? It is a wonderful meditation to meditate on the expansive nature of Jupiter. Feeling your mind and heart opening and soaring like an Eagle above the clouds. Do you know some people who are very Jupiterian in they outlook on life? Others who seem to embrace the opposite energy of Saturn- closed up and riddled with fear and anxieties?


The one negative flaw in Jupiter energy is TO MUCH on all levels leading one to be overwhelmed, over indulgent, overweight, over believing, filled with grandiose planning etc .. To much of a good thing may not be good. That is when the Saturn energy of discernment and limitations needs to come in.  If we fail to acknowledge the value of Saturn’s caution and moderation, we can be fooled into exploiting opportunities that only lead towards financial failure, spiritual dissatisfaction, or the boredom and depression that accompanies over-indulgence.  Jupiter is exaggeration and extravagance at any level. Biting off more then it can chew at times. One must learn the laws of Over indulgence.  Saturn teaches us limitations  via karmically created  circumstances.

Yea,, I agree a bit about music... the other music I could of posted for Jupiter was something like "Joy to the World" or something.

But happy your enjoying the text..... hopefully you will start to see things in your life and the world which align more to one planetary energy then another. Which was my hopefully intention in sharing the information.

Is there a way of finding out Ace, which of the planets are influencing us at this present time. I know when we do a chart, it shows where they are when we were born. But on a day to day or month to month basis, how do we go about finding this out?

Not an easy simple question ... unless one is using astrology. But here goes.

In order to find out where the planets are at present time one uses what is called an Ephemeris which tells what planets are in what sign and in what degree on any specific date.

If one is doing their own chart one looks at where the transiting planets ( in Ephemeris) are at present moment in relationship to one's birth chart and figures out aspects between them and their placements.

One's birth chart gives our overall blueprint of energies and issues and opportunities of a practical, psychological and spiritual nature we choose to work on in this life --- and then the transiting planets gives us indication what energies we are dealing with at a specific cycle or time in one's life.   Both can be extremely insightful and important. Astrological energies are effecting us all the time whether we are aware of them or not. Understanding them can gives us chance to work with them more effectively.

There are individual cycles an individual deals with in context to larger cycles different countries are under( each country has own astrology chart and likewise their own energies which permeates their cultures... reason for clashes at time) and likewise in relationship to energies predominating the whole world.

Example would be lets say - Pluto and Uranus have been in challenging cycle ( called a square cycle) ,,on and off for last few years... causing many issues of established authoritarian rules  and rulers ( Pluto in Capricorn) in combat with individual personal freedoms ( Uranus in Aries).  The square energy has caused many clashes in the world in many countries and still is. It is correlated to energy which has given rise to so much terrorism in world.

Where that square is in one's own chart would be how that energy is effecting you as an individual,

Let me try to put it in a simple way. We normally have 3 or 4 seasons. Each season happens because the world has moved (spin) to such and such position and making such and such angel to the sun (sure, and to the stars etc.) Then, some different things happen only in that particularly season.
Someone who knows which season is coming, he will know better how to prepare and handle it, doesn’t he?
