Here’s a thought/question for you: A number of people around me are now touting EFT or ‘Tapping’, which is their modern-day answer to everything from acupuncture to psychiatry. It does lean toward there being One cause and One effect for emotional issues and disruption of energy, though they also address a Personal Peace Procedure when more attention to emotional history is warranted. …In other words, they generally do Not feel a need to “find something in someone’s past and Address it” in order to Fix the disruption in energy flow. On the other hand, from the emotional side I have been teaching what I call “Embracing the Alter-Ego” in bipolar settings; this has recently been debunked by ‘Shadow Work’, which I personally consider to be the Same Thing, just not as much emphasis on getting Rid of the Shadow, lol. So what do you think of these methods of dealing with issues that are not physical in nature? Do you feel that we can correct all negative emotion, etc fairly quickly (minutes, or hours) by realigning our energy? Do you feel there might be a need to actually Face a problem that has been created in our past? And where does karma fit into all this? Again, I covet your thoughts

HI mary anne.. my two cents ...I have been involved with alternative healing techniques for many years and have worked with many nurses.. Let me start off my saying - if it is a valid alternative healing technique (of which there are many different ones and then others less so ) . We had a few of the Nurses into tapping technique years before it became widely used in more alternative healing groups. Had people climbing up ladders who were fearful of heights I remember.. then judging their progress on a scale of 1 to 10 by how they felt before and after tapping. Did their fear disappear for good over time ,, not sure.
But what may work for one person may not work for another at a particular time in a person's life. We are vibrating energy beings having a vibrational energy blueprint which sometimes attaches us to one technique more then another.
Lets try to use a small example by breaking up different people into the four basic elemental characteristics of the four elemental forces and just loosely look at ways that may work more from them--
Earth -- herbs, things of earth, crystals, massage etc) Water -- having to do with feeling and emotions, creative imagery, etc Air -- or mental uses of healing, talk therapy, visualization etc. Fire -- Exercise, doing rituals of fire, transformations of burning away the old , alchemy etc.
So it's less valid to me to judge the technique itself and more useful to judge if it would have any use for oneself or person I'm working with.
And what you touched upon in your question - one's Higher Self and Karmic predicament is also part of process...the why and when of healing. One can stay " physically or even emotionally ill" to some degree and still be healed.
Should one get into our emotional past could also be: it works for some - less so as right process for others.

I am not betraying secrets to point out if you go on the InterNet there is a site called Meetups that is an umbrella site for a great many local clubs and/of persons hosting lectures. At one meeting at one group I did learn about EFT and it sounded useful. Another group is much more intense with "other worldly" communications. I like both groups and very much appreciate what they have to offer me. But it is hard to compare them. The reason being I am seeing different levels of involvement I never thought possible which is quite a challenge to me to make use of.
The best I can answer is we need to learn manners and good health and learn to cope if we want to sit down with the others and be productive. We were not called to be toads and act like cornered badgers. But the higher things we seek - of an esoteric nature - are ever elusive until we become more amenable to them. That they exist outside our grasp does not mean they are beyond us. I think it is because they will only be revealed when we are on the same vibrational level. That entails purging a great many things from the past. That will not be pleasant nor will it take place over night. But it must be done.
The right group or teacher can provide a "shortcut" but there is no substitute for the metamorphosis. It is not so much dealing with the little things will make us whole; I think if we realize our Karmic debts the details will evaporate eventually or take care of themselves.
When the house is on fire it won't help to polish the door knobs or wash the windows ....

I loved Gruntal's last line metaphor " When the house is on fire it won't help to polish the door knobs or wash the windows ...."
Woke up this morning with more to say on this question. Personally I find psychological understanding an enormously useful tool as part of one's spiritual path. Have seen many who were on Spiritual path for many years then turn to wisdom of psychology later on to fill in some personal gaps. Others tackle psychological insights earlier which then brings them to look into spirituality. Personally I have found Astrological Psychology a very valuable tool in this regard if one knows or learns how to use astrological insights and archetypical energies and work with them. But astrology, like all techniques, is not for everyone unless one is drawn to its language and usage.
The drawback of some types of Psychology techniques can be like the old metaphor of a broken radio. (I said it was old, not sure how many people still use radio's you have to plug in). But the metaphor was you can spend years trying to fix the radio, taking it apart to examine each part, sending it out to many different repair shops.... but in the end you find out the reason it didn't work properly was because it wasn't plugged in.
