Hi all, I know there are some reiki masters here, could you answer this question, why were you drawn to healing? Or was it simply something you decided to do. The reason I ask, is because this seems to keep coming up for us, my wife had a reading done on a few occasions, first time, she was told her husband is a healer, second time she was told her husband is a healer and will greatly help her, (she has chronic pain), and a third occasion she was told her husband would heal her, all three readings from different people. I will state, I have never had an interest in healing, know nothing about it, and would assume someone who was meant to be, would be drawn to it. Wait, I tell a lie, many years ago I had the first attune meant! which left me curled up in a ball, feeling terrible! reason I carried a lot of negativity at the time, and my wife thought it would help me, so hence the question, why does it keep coming up. many thanks in advance for any replies, Robert,

Real healers do not go after the art, IT COMES AFTER THEM. And in the holistic line of healing, things almost always get worse before they ever get better. You have to get all of the crap up and out. This throughs a lot of people for a loop.

Hi, yes, this is what I was thinking, that you would have to be drawn to the art in some form or other, Many thanks, for your reply, Robert.

Dear Robert I can relate to your post. I have also been told by so many (healers) and the like that I am also a healer...and I have also completed reiki training levels 1 and 2...but like you my friend I do not feel that pull or tug to heal. Now dont get me wrong...I do feel very (extremely) compassionate and sympathetic when a fellow soul is hurting...to the point where I can actually feel their pain and at times I have even developed similar symptoms to the person who is in pain...be it emotional or physical. My heart really does break for them and many a time I must turn away for fear of them see me cry. This is something I am unable to control no matter how hard I try I seem to just soak up the pain and sadness and often I find it can take me some hours to even days to shake off the feelings. Reiki was something I thought I was or would be good at as many told me I would be good but for me...and I only speak from my experience...the energy is just too strong and I lack the natural ability to just let it flow...there are times when it is ok and then there are times where I feel like im about to explode or self combust lol. I agree with both Karen and Ishtahota...but for myself I do not think this is my true calling...which is a pity as when I see someone in pain...I othen say to myself "oh I wish I could take your pain away or at least ease it a little" sometimes I say this over and over like a mantra. The amount of times I have had to turn away and close my eyes and clear my mind so I can just focus on the person and wish so hard for their pain to be gone...sometimes it has worked and other times it hasn't. I truly truly hurt for those who are genuinely hurting...maybe that is my way of helping them carry their load who knows. Even after the reiki attunements I hardly ever feel the urge to use reiki myself on others but I can and do feel the effects of reiki from others...strange isnt it. When I did the reiki course I so wanted to be able to put it to use to help others but even with practice on myself I dont feel that the practice of reiki is for me and the few people I have used reiki on have said they enjoyed it and found it deeply relaxing. I can only say for myself...I dont think I am the right energy channel for reiki...maybe that will change one day but for now it is something I dont feel compelled to use. For now I just keep my mind and heart open to those who need me. I cant tell you the amount of good people who ask me to pray for them and I do...even though I'm not what you would call overly religious...but I do believe in the power of prayer (positive thoughts/wishes) and that is where I feel my true calling/strength is...being able to focus all my intention (energy) onto the hurting person or animal. I also get a great surge of energy from hugging a tree...I know it sounds 'hippy or trippy' to some but for me it works...also a walk on a good windy day also recharges my batteries lol. Now sometimes I wish I could bottle that energy exchange between nature and I and I could make a small fortune lol. Anyway Robert I just wanted to share my experience or inexperience as the case may be. All I know is like Karen and Ishtahota have said you will 'feel' naturally where you fit in...for me its with nature...that is where I feel the most connection...that is where I feel I belong. Maybe I was a tree in a past life...who knows Love and Light my friend Lorraine

Hi Lorraine, thanks for your reply, I think you hit the nail on the head, I just am not or ever have been attracted to healing, So don't know where these psychics are coming from. Your mention of windy days made me laugh, I love to stand on a cliff edge, in extremely windy conditions even if it's lashing rain, and soak up the energy, I even dream,of shooting up to great heights in the sky, hovering with forceful winds and rain, lashing against my body and face, the energy coursing through my entire being, I get the same effect with severe thunder and lighting, and don't get me started on full moon's. I know I need help, I know I need help I know I ................................ Robert.

Lol...Robert I can completely and totally relate my friend In fact someone said to me once that I had a strong druid energy to me...at the time I laughed but something they said really struck a cord within my being...and as I get older the energy connection to nature and the elements seem to be getting stronger. So funny as a child I was so scared of thunder but now I have to really fight with myself to stop from running out into an electrical storm lol...I think I could possibly be a great conductor lol Ah the full moon...oh how its energy plays with me and yet I could literally state for hours at it...and how i envy wolves that sing to it... now who needs help lol Can also relate to the dreams...sswooping and flying...soaring higher and higher...faster and faster...usually over water... So nice to share with you Robert Love and Light

I believe we all have the ability to heal. The desire to elleviate the pain and suffering of other's is innate in most of us. Be it with healing touch, or simply providing a shoulder to lean on or a listening ear. Healing can take many different forms. The psychics who have spoken to your wife may have picked up on a innate strong ability that you have to heal. But the choice to go on and develop that ability, is always yours. Potentially we all have within us different gifts that we never use. I was told by a handwriting analyst who was extremely accurate in their reading of me in every way accept one. That I was very artistic. I can draw but I'm no picasso What I believe is, that potentially, I have it within me to be very artistic if it was something I felt strongly compelled to develop. It's always about choice. As for helping your wife, it may not neccessarily be that you yourself heal her, but that you are instrumental in getting her the help that she needs to heal. Pointing her in the right direction. Being the catalyst for changes in her life that help towards her living a whole, healthy life. I think we all have a tendency to think literally or within a narrow spectrum. I always suggest people think 'outside the box'. Love and light Kaz

Hi Kaz, you make a very good point, while I have never had the urge to heal, other people are picking up on it, it's not just the psychics, my wife was having a conversation with a spiritual friend of her's, telling her of an occasion, where she couldn't touch me, because the electrical shocks she was getting of me were too strong, the friend said, well he's meant to be a healer, then blurted out surprised, he's going to heal you. Its not something you say to someone you know is in constant pain. One of the psychics, went on about it that much, that she got annoyed, she paid for a reading and all he could talk about was her husband been a healer, and he wouldn't take, no he's not, for an answer. I will say, when we met sixteen years ago, I was in a very good place spiritually, and I knew, I was there to help her, but then life drags you out of balance, and I fell from grace slightly so to speak. Just before I joined The God Light, Which is not that long ago, I feel I was on the cusp of something happening, I could feel what I thought was my kundalini, starting to rumble and move up the chakra's, it felt like a break through was about to happen. It's nine fifty, Thursday night, usually when I'am about to get a spiritual experience, everything goes a golden yellow colour, it's doing that now and I can feel energy building, my wife has just turned to me, asking what's going on, everything seems brighter, clearer and I have no pain. Do you see what I mean Kaz, just talking to you, now, this is happening, to me this is another sign, trust me KAZ, this is not a wind up, I have far too much respect for you people, and it is something I would not do anyway. I'am going to sign off now Kaz, I need a cup of tea, let me know what you think, Many thanks, Robert.

Hi Robert, Do you ever think we 'over analyse' things too much. How much easier is life when we just go with an experience, accept it for what it is and not question it. The way you talk shows me that you are very much in tune with energy. Your awareness of it in yourself and all around you. I think we try to label things too much. I loved your description of how when you feel the energy build up around you, everything seems to take on a golden yellow colour. In my minds eye I could see that happening with you, and it felt beautiful. Your wife felt it too and she bathed in it. Energy between lovers and loved ones who are close to each other, entwine and enfold. Regardless of whether you want to heal or not, energy points throughout your body are awakening. Making you open and receptive. You are emitting vibrationally at a higher frequency then you were. From earlier descriptions from you, it would appear the brow and crown are opening. Your mind is focused on the spiritual, your perception of the world is becoming more spiritually minded. Don't be surprised if you do not experience more in the way of spiritual interaction. And whether it is something you consciously want or not, I believe you are a conductor for healing energy. You are what you are. Just go with the flow. If those around you benefit from the energy you are emitting, it's all good isn't it. Enjoy the journey. Love and light Kaz

Hi Robert I couldn't stop thinking about what you said and so I wanted to try and find something I thought you would find interesting and hopefully helpful in understanding how you perceive/receive energy. I had another one from a while ago but I cant seem to find it now...anyway hopefully you will enjoy this article and if I manage to find the other article I will post it here for you. Take care and Good night Love and Light "We all need to create healthy boundaries. Whether you're highly sensitive (like I am) or not, this is an essential daily practice that helps you protect your energy and harness it in ways that have a positive impact. I've always been sensitive to the energy of words, the news, how people were treating each other or animals and struggles in different parts of the world. For most of my life I was unaware that I was absorbing so much information around me — but I take in more than just what meets the eye, and I feel things strongly. I often can tell when someone on the world stage is lying, or I can feel what's not being said when someone is talking; I feel the pain or emotion in a situation, and I empathize deeply with others' experiences. As I stepped onto my spiritual path a few years ago, I discovered that we are all one and that separation is an illusion — the body plays a trick on us making us think we are not connected to each other, but there's an energy and spirit that is woven between and through us, thus explaining why we have the ability to feel so interconnected. In other words, when one of us suffers, we all suffer; when we're happy, we create a positive ripple effect on everyone in our lives. I began to pay more attention to my energy and I realized that when I was operating on the higher frequencies of love, happiness, peace, my life started getting better. Relationships improved, my business grew, my message grew, and I physically, emotionally and mentally felt more balanced and strong. There are powerful ways in which we can protect our energy from lower energies of fear, or toxic situations and people, and harness the positive energy of love. 1. Make awareness a priority. Our energy is our currency. We don't have time to feel like crap — and we're meant to live to our full potential, so it behooves us to notice how we are feeling around certain people and situations, what we see on TV, even what we're eating and drinking. We can also be aware of what our emotions and those of others are, so that we don't have to take on other people's stuff and make it our own. With higher levels of awareness around what feels good and what doesn't feel good, we're able to walk away from things that don't serve us, send our positive energy and intentions to those who need it, and create boundaries around us and the unwanted energies. 2. Create your intention. Intention allows us to protect ourselves from what we don't wish to invite in and to allow what we do wish to invite in. We are in charge of our personal experience, and no one else has the power to affect how we feel if we are consciously choosing what we accept. We are responsible for how we feel. A simple intention may be, "I intend to only invite in positive, loving energy and experiences. I am not open to lower energies." 3. Meditate consistently. In meditation, call on spirit, your guides, or loving energy for protection — you can use whatever word you would like. You are not alone and you can ask for help, which activates a loving force that is waiting to assist you. Close your eyes and visualize a bright golden light surrounding your body — or any color you like to use. Feel the energy and support of unconditional love that is all around you and within you. Sit here and bask in the brilliance of this bright light. Take this with you throughout your day; when you feel your energy dip, you can close your eyes and visualize it expanding its glow around you and restate your intention and call on help for protection. 4. Check your thoughts. Our thoughts powerfully manifest our external experience. They affect our energy and if we are vibrating on the higher frequencies of love, happiness, inspiration, we will bring in more of what we love; if we are down in the lower energies with thoughts of fear, worry, lack, doubt, judging then we will experience more of what we don't want. Being aware of what we are thinking allows us to realign our thoughts from fear to love when we need to. This is a moment-to-moment practice and gets us present with ourselves so we can experience life more fully. 5. Learn to say no. And to say yes to things that you know will serve you. When we feel drained after spending time with someone, this might be a toxic relationship that we need to say no to; when we feel energized after spending time with someone, it's something we can say yes to more often. Saying no to others can be difficult especially if you find yourself wanting to please others or fear upsetting them, but doing what's best for you serves everyone because we are not meant to act out of guilt or obligation and when we take care of ourselves, we can take care of everyone else in a much bigger way. When we are operating on our optimal level internally, we will experience much less chaos on the outside, and much more harmony. Our energy affects everything. Tending to our internal landscape daily allows us to create a life we love and to feel our best. When we are protecting our energy, not in a fear-based way, but from a place of self-love, we are able to harness it and use it to focus on our life's purpose — which is our happiness and doing what we love in the world." HI,
my two cents
I have been interested in the subject of spiritual healing myself for the last 45 years. I am a certified Therapeutic Touch practitioner, a Reiki Master and have done a few other healing practices over the years. One of key principles to me is that you do not become a Healer but that the universal healing force can work through you to help others. Healing can awaken a sense of compassion in one's heart if one is drawn to it.
One CAN become a better instrument for the healing forces to work through one to help others( via meditation and living a more spiritual life). Doing healings on others has the side effect to also send energy through your being which in turns also heals to some degree the one sending it out. But self should not be main focus in healing. If a Healing works or not is usually not in the Healers hands,, but more in the karmic circumstances of the one being treated.
I have found from my astrology studies that certain astrology signs have a greater affinity to the Healing arts..and is one of reasons some are drawn to it stronger then others.

Hi all, yes Ace, I agree with you one hundred per cent, that the healer is only the conductor and the energy comes from spirit, Kaz, again great advice, stop thinking about it, go with the flow and see what happens, Lorraine, thank you for all your input and help, at the moment, I 'am not going to make any decisions, just leave things as they are and see what happens, Again thank you all for your input, help and advice, Many thanks, Robert.

Hi all, on account of the help you all gave on this thread, I would like to share this with you, while walking through the park today, still churning over in my mind about my wife and the whole healer thing.
The final answer.
While it is understandable, That you would seek to help a loved one, Your thought's put you on the physical You do not have to become a healer, to help your loved one, It is not your path, Your mediums confuse, spiritual with physical, You do so now on a spiritual level, Last night was a showing of this, You we're put together to grow spiritually, One helping the other, This is what you asked for, Remember.
Sometimes we are in the right place, doing the right thing, and we don't even know it. Robert.

I think they are all correct,Robert, and so are You; yes, I like your latest thoughts on this It's amazing what Happens to us on our "journey"....we don't see a connection to something, and then all of a sudden we Do - only it's not like we thought, at all! Kind of like reading something and thinking, "Oh, so That's what that is!" ...I think that's the way it is with Many things; we imagine there must be Change involved, a feeling, thinking or doing of something Different - something strange to us...when it's not About that. It just...Happens, and we notice Later. Meanwhile, like you just said, we are in the Right place, doing the Right thing, and may not even Know it. I think you are All so neat

Hi Robert... There is a wide variety of healing methods so it would be a mistake to assume that Reiki is or isn't for you.
If it were me at a point of uncertainty - and it has been, oh so many times - I would let go of trying to figure it out, ask 'the universe' to show me how to go ahead in this, then pay attention to whatever comes my way pretty soon that feels at that moment like "this is for me".

Hi Mary Anne and Xan, yes I agree everyone's advice was extremely accurate and correct, but the final topping to the whole discussion was the walk in the park. Have you ever, been in the moment, or that place, where you hear that still, small voice, that is both your own and someone else. It's been a while, since I heard, that voice, I trust implicitly, in that voice, and would gladly live my life in accordance, with it's advice. But again I would like to express my gratitude to the members of The GOD Light, who never fail, in their desire to help and advise, you people are beyond words, many thanks, Robert.

Hi all, I know this is an old post, But I have reread it, and while everyone gave their own truth in answer with good intention, I feel some people, maybe, slightly discouraged by the content of some answers, and it is this I would like to address.
On this earth there are young souls and mature souls, and I presume everything in between. Mature souls have been around a lot longer, therefore their spiritual evolution is more advanced.
People strive to know what their soul purpose is, what exactly they are meant to do on this earth. A lot of people have said, you would have to be drawn to healing. While this may be true for some, it is not always the case.
You will be given many subtle signs of your soul purpose throughout your life, some pick up on these, some do not. Sometimes, it is what you fear most in life, that gives the clue to your soul purpose. Some will be drawn strongly to one thing, and usually follow that. Others will have an extremely strong pull to spirituality itself, but their soul plan signs will remain subtle, they will find this very confusing, just do the first part, entertain your spirituality, when the time is right and you are ready to hear it, your soul plan will be given to you.
The reason for the subtle signs of your soul plan, can be that you are not restricted to one, you have freedom of choice, once you are back in alignment with spirit.
There are many websites, which try to decide by questions, whether you are a mature soul, intermediate or young, be honest in your answers.
If you are considering healing, do not be put off, because you do not have a strong attraction, it is not always the case.

Would there be a noticable difference between having a session with a non reiki healer, and a reiki healer, what if there was a line of reiki healers in the family, and they was educated how to heal others, are they different to those who was self taught and those who are not healers? Are those being healed told that its not mainly the healer thats healing them, Not sure reiki would work on me, though a chance i might relax around the reiki healer, Also wanted to ask, is the healing session healing the healer, like good karma, doing something good for someone to get thanks?

Hi Chris, I'am not a healer, my post was more concerned with soul purpose, there are people here far more qualified to answer your questions. I can give you my take on it . Everyone on this planet is a conduit for spirit, those who are more open, conduct more. It is spirit who does all the healing, not the healer, any healer who claims the power comes from them, avoid. I do believe, it is of benefit to the healer, as well as those receiving healing. How much initiation, improves the flow of energy, I can not say, I have no experience of such. I'am sure, someone will answer you in more depth.
