I’m thankful today for the Unexpected success of my cataract surgery…once again my spirit guides have Serendipitously brought something into Reality that wasn’t Planned. My eyes have been operated on a Number of times and yesterday’s simple surgery, though “normally” one that also Corrects vision, was only expected to remove the cataract for Me, and Not improve my vision any.
…Except, it Did, lol – I can see almost Perfectly out of my right eye today (Joe, my guide, assured me prior to the surgery that it would Happen)….anyway, it got me thinking about Human Nature, for some reason.
Growing up Christian, I was taught to Pray for people, for their salvation, for their well-being, etc, though no one around me ever prayed like they were talking to someone they Knew...I have always talked to God like I talk to Anyone I know Well, because how could I call him 'Father' if I only spoke in Formal terms, and/or only when in time of crisis? Not likely a very good relationship, but so many people don’t Know what they’re missing in that way.
Many times I have known Christian folks to pray for others Not out of “love”, but out of Fear….you see, they may pray for their enemies, ex’es or those they do not even Know, but the biggest reason is that they have been taught what Hell is all about, and even though they do not know or even don’t Like someone, they really don’t want that person to go There!
(…Can you hear the prayer conversation? “God, I don’t care about Mr. So-and-So very much but no matter How I feel, I Sure don’t want them to be in Eternal Fire and Brimstone!”) It’s a Good teaching for Christian “children” to have learned, I guess, because we all need to start Somewhere to keep us from complete Hatred of those we do not love…though it is Far from Perfect.
What I have Seen more recently, as I use the internet to move out into the world of (what they call) New Age Freedom of Thinking, is that so many are Releasing all former thought of both fear AND responsibility in the name of embracement of “Love”. And yet, what kind of “love” could make the statements I have read, that say “Well, since there IS no Hell, and souls are just Reincarnated again and again, with Life-Lessons to be learned, and they won’t get any Further until they Learn better, who Cares if I feel sorry for them or not?? Why should I feel bad for them? They're Rotten People, and everything is OKAY now…. I’ll just Leave them in their Messes, stupid people – let ‘em Suffer! That way they LEARN something!!”
….Hmmm, so I wonder if there is a Balance yet to be learned. Yes, everyone has Lessons to learn here; what about our Own? Does it not seem possible that we might need to learn Love, when there IS no “fear” Forcing us to 'love' others? When Love becomes a Choice we make, now that we are 'free' to hate? To expand ourselves to include Others as our Own….oh wait. There’s that old Bible verse – “Do unto Others Just like you wish they would do unto You.”... or “Love others as much as you wish they would love You”….or, “Pray for others Just as specifically, with just as much Meaning, as you would for your Own problems.”
Pure, perfect Love, that is Source love, is one that Knows “when to embrace”, and when to Refrain from embracing….it knows a time to Hold On, and a time to Let Go. A Love that knows when to Help someone and when to wait for someone to help Themselves. A Love that doesn’t Define itself by whether “we” love it back or not; a Love that doesn’t Need us, but Wants us because Both will benefit.
If I speak with the tongues of men and angels….if I possess ALL knowledge….if I give Everything I have away, including my Own Life…but have not Love, I Have Accomplished Nothing. Love is never jealous, never proud, never self-seeking; love always sees the Best in us, always believes in us, never giving up….all the other things in the Universe are subject to binary Law and therefore will eventually End,
But not Love. For Love is eternal, the Beginning, the End…everything else is just window-dressing.
....If I learn Nothing else in life, let me learn Love.
