Several studies have been done on Nuns, in connection with dementia and Alzheimer's. It has been found that virtually none suffer with these mental problems, compared to the national average. The following quote comes from a study done by David Snowden.
It seems a peaceful spiritual life mixed with activity fends off the effects of mental illness. What are your thoughts on the possibility of eradicating dementia by leading a spiritual life?

Some of the healers in the states are using coconut oil to repair and fend these two off.

My thoughts on avoiding any and all disease is problematical - the problem being if the cure is worst then the disease. The problem being if the cure wipes out any chance of living a glorious and adventuresome life. The problem like most problems is compounded. We can extend the physical life of human beings quite well but the quality of life isn't so easy to maintain. When everyone died at age 37 they didn't have time to worry about becoming senile or non-productive in their old age. They never lived long enough to have an old age.
So in one sense we all make our pact with the devil. Not for evil purposes but to just accomplish the physical at the expense of being comfortable and serene. All that mental pushing to accomplish some goal is bound to wear us out sooner or later.
On the other hand I must believe what I have been taught and apply it. Some people were born to live a life of rest and recuperation and might be blessed to be able to enjoy it right up the end. Others take risks and the experiments don't always work. It is our Karma to deal with this and our choice to make. But I do not think it is our birthright to be defeated and go crazy.
And yes at some level I do think it is a vindication to our life styles and attitudes if we can die happy without any mental illness.

I've not heard of that particular study before now. All I can say is with predictions from our NHS people being quite depressing regarding how many people here in the UK will suffer from dementia I hope it's true and more people know about it. What kind of numbers were looked at Leon ?
