Hi Lionl welcome to the group, I am sure we have a few others that are middle aged here, I think everyone is an animal lover that I have met, if not we might just have to dispose of them I love history as well, always have the History, National Geographic or Discovery channel on. Hi. I am on the low desert in Southern California U.S.A. I seem to have discovered animals a lot in recent years as very good therapy. In my old age ( 67 ) I just realize I am getting to know and appreciate them more.

I have lived long enough to see or experience some history but what I see doesn't always match what gets written down in the history books. To me it is fascinating to see how things turn out. But it is also vexing to see how much history books can be re-written. My spirituality is very limited but I do find it a constant source of fascination to be able to "rediscover" so much when I spiritually mature.

There is much out there that isn't even written down ....

Personally I think age is just a number. But, I can relate to what you mean, re the school of hard knocks. But feel those same experiences also polish us around the edges too.
