Hi everyone,
I had a dream last night one which seemed so real. It wasn't a nice dream and usually when I have a nightmare I become lucid. Fear tends to do that. I wanted to share it with you to get a different perspective. So go with your intuition, feelings or dream symbolsim. It's all good. Here it is.
I am at my mother's house and my youngest son is with me, and one other person whom I cannot see. I became aware, though not sure how that something was wrong. Someone says, the earth's temperature has increased by 15 degrees. The seas are rising, things are melting. I feel there is something I should do. But ask the question - is there anything I can do? What is the point. Where can we go. If it's the whole world that is affected.
I go outside and from the house I can see the sea. (In real life my mother's house is about 5 miles inland). It's really close, but looks different.. There are no waves - just swirling water. It looks layered. The lower layer is moving, the top layer seems still. It looks black and shiney and like glass. Someone says, there is a chance to survive, but you must move to higher ground. I ask, if the earth is 15 degrees hotter, and I can see the affect, though it doesn't 'feel' hotter. What difference will it make? I tell my son we have to move higher. We will need drinking water. But there is so little time to prepare. A policeman comes to the door and tells us it's time to leave and that we must hurry if we want to get to a safer place.
I empty a big milk container, so I can fill it with water to take with us. In my mind I'm thinking is there any point. Who knows how long we will be there for. My daughter left the house earlier, and I don't know where she is and she never said goodbye. I hope she gets back before we have to leave. I grab the water and I tell my son we have to go. I then woke up. This dream is still with me and very vivid.

Dear Karen, As a friend, I will be (honestly) blunt here and not try to be mysterious/ambiguous, ok? Though I know there’s a slim chance that I might interpret it right. lol. What I have l learned from interpreting I Ching for 30 years is how to look at the interconnectedness of everything. When event A happens, I have to look to another events (B, C, D etc.) that happens simultaneously at the same time, too. In your case what happens at the same time? As it was a dream, so the events that happened before your had a dream is the key. 1. It was Lorraine’s Dad Birthday and she was trying so hard to calm herself and her family down. 2. Your family in Australia had felt very low that day, about your aunt. 3. You read something about a forest, sea, storm etc. Ok, we could see some connectedness of the “images” you got before you had a dream. Now, there were some key words in your dream: 15 (degrees), melting, “moving higher”, “drinking water”, your daughter’s leaving, and “a big milk container.” Now we will try to “interpret” all of those key words here: 1. 15 (degrees): Why 15? Where did you get this number from? Is it really about temperature or something else? 2. melting?: I’m not sure about this so let me skip it. 3. moving higher: this seems to have a spiritual meaning, too. 4. drinking water: I know that you know drinking water really help to calm down and relax. 5. your daughter’s leaving: Hmm…Any conflict with her lately? I mean she asked for something that you didn’t think you should give her? 6. a big milk container: This is very interesting. Why milk? And why container? All in all, (don't be surprised for what I'm going to say, it will sound very irrelevant, I know I think you found something good that you missed (or used to overlook it). And when you tried to get something new more, no matter how hard you tried, it still didn’t work. It didn’t work just because you mistook it for the better thing? Anyway, 5 (your daughter) seems to be the most important issue here, I think. P.S. No matter how ridiculous this post might sound, it’s really my sincere gift from my heart to you, my friend.

Something connected you to that age again, lately?
Ok, it's time for me to say goodnight. Be back to read it tomorrow.

I have "flood" dreams but they always involve total catastrophe. It is like you can't do anything but see it all end or be destroyed. What a feeling of hopelessness ! Except oddy I don't ever die or get drowned.
In your case I can't help but notice the dream scenario is more prolonged and drawn out with a very uncertain outcome. It isn't even very obvious to me rather there is all that much to worry about although the possibilites do seem very glum. So your concerned! And your not crazy - if you were then you would be the only one to panic. The policeman at your door even vindicates it is an "establishment" recognized worry!
So at some level it may be interpreted as just "going along with the crowd" when things get scary or uncertain. But I find the description of the water most telling. The allegory of "looking beneath the surface" has haunted mankind for ages. It is when the surface is still and calm that it can be the most deceptive!
At another level all I see is mostly tired old cliches. But then what do we do when disaster strikes? Live in denial and have a cup of tea? Many do - and wonder why thay are taken by surprise when they are just unprepared. To me that is what the dream symbolizes. ( Hopefully ) just a wake up call that "somethings going on ...but you don't know what it is ..."
I have reason to believe disaster preparedness is a state of mind even as some things seem impossible to deal with. And that this works on many levels. If it was me I would also take a bag of potato chips along with the milk carton of water. Because in the event of an actual emergency I ( like you ) wouldn't know what to do or how to handle it or even if I could. But instinctively we do know how to run ....or flee.

Hi Karen,
Gosh what a disturbing dream and frightening, and can see why it would be so vivid. First of all let me tell you that I am completely useless at dream interpretation so I will not even attempt that, but what I will go on is my intuition, on what you have wrote, and see if I can offer any help in that way.
The very first thing I notice is the ‘Mother’ represented within the dream, you start off in your ‘mothers’ house with your son, (confirming yourself a mother) then ‘mother’ earth is heating up...so with such a strong ‘mother’ influence within the dream, I feel there maybe underlying mother issues here, either you need to be mother to a person/s or a situation or you feel a need to be mothered yourself?
The second thing is the water element to your dream. I always associate ‘water’ with emotions. The water has layers to it, underneath is swirling but on top is still like glass. To me I would read this as, although you seem strong and put a good outer face/mirror forward, underneath you might be suppressing hidden depths to your emotions, but these emotions are making their way to the surface within your subconscious thoughts, and manifesting within your dreams. (This is merely an observation/suggestion here at this point)
The heat of the earth rising would confirm to me that there are issues not being addressed within your life and are maybe at boiling point but you are trying to ‘rise’ above them, but I feel this elevation will only buy you a little time before you will need to face or address that which you fear. Maybe you are trying to suppress your anger towards someone or something or situation, but you know you can’t suppress it for too much longer. (and this I intuitively feel is nothing to do with what we have spoke about in previous chats but this is something known only to you)
Emptying a big milk container was the most upsetting part for me in reading through your dream. Milk to me is nature’s nurture and you are emptying a BIG container of it. For me I feel a sense of loss with this part, maybe you feel you are losing your children (by that I mean....Is something in waking life taking them away from you? A new job or home perhaps or new friendships or relationships? or are you yourself distancing yourself from them? Only you will know if that makes sense) Milk is what we give our babies but you are emptying this BIG resource, maybe you feel empty without your kids close by, again this feels strongly enforced within your dream, by not being able to say Goodbye to your daughter.
I feel an authority figure in your life who gives you guidance in waking life is represented by the policeman within your dream, but perhaps you doubt this authority at times but you keep that to yourself, like you do within the dream. Perhaps deep down you want to give in to the situation but you don’t want to been seen as someone who breaks the rules? Or goes against the advice that is given, out of fear of upsetting or rocking the apple cart, so to speak.
Time is another factor to this dream. You have no ‘time’ to prepare. Maybe you feel like time is passing you by or time is running out for what you want in life? As I recall you have had dreams before where 'Time' was represented within the dream, maybe you need to make time for yourself, to prepare you for what you want in life?
Karen, I found myself quite upset in parts by this dream of yours not by crying but I could feel a great deal of deep deep sadness, now I know that you have lost a dear one not long ago, but this does not feel like a grief sadness but more of an empty sadness, like there is a hole somewhere within, where you have stored a lot of sadness, (I think we all have in one way or another throughout our lives) but reading your dream made me feel like you wanted to give up, not on life, but on whatever it is that you are trying to rise above or achieve, if that makes sense.
I hope you can make some sense out of this, and as you say, take from it only that which resonates with you and leave the rest. Once again I cannot interpret dreams but I can only read and share with you what I ‘feel’ reading it and what I see within your dream imagery.
Dreams can be so terrifying at times, and God knows I’ve had my fair share of them, but you have always managed to make sense out of them for me Karen, and I hope I have helped and not hindered you with some of this dream.
Love and Light my dear friend (and sweet dreams xxx)

Dear Monty, George and Lorraine,
Thank you all so much for taking the time to write such well thought out and insightful replies. I really enjoyed reading them and there was a few things in all of your responses that resonated with me.
Monty - You said "look at the interconnectedness of everything. When event A happens, I have to look to another events (B, C, D etc.) that happens simultaneously at the same time, too." I agree. This is a perfect example of how conversations, words that we read and other external influences bleed into the dreamscape. Even things we are not conscious of but we 'take in' unconsciously.
I've considered the number 15, and have tried to think of what that number might stand out. In dream symbolism the number 15 represents a dissolution of difficult conditions. Your problems will soon disappear. Numerically I know it is helpful to look at the numbers 1, 5 and 6 which is the two numbers added together. From what I've read that is linked to love, harmony and the home. So I take it as a positive number indicating the problems connected to this area will dissolve or be removed. With regard to my daughter, I'm happy to say there are no problems as such. We speak regularly. Ideally we both would like to see more of each other. But this can be said of many who because of distance find that difficult. When I was 12 I moved to Wales to live. It was a big upheaval to move away from family, a time of big changes and was very stressful. Thank so much for your gift!
George - Quite a lot of what you said made sense. Particularly " But I find the description of the water most telling. The allegory of "looking beneath the surface" has haunted mankind for ages. It is when the surface is still and calm that it can be the most deceptive!" Also, " To me that is what the dream symbolizes. ( Hopefully ) just a wake up call that "somethings going on ...but you don't know what it is ..."

Lorraine - Another great reply and quite a lot in it I can relate to. For example you said "The very first thing I notice is the ‘Mother’ represented within the dream, you start off in your ‘mothers’ house with your son, (confirming yourself a mother) then ‘mother’ earth is heating up...so with such a strong ‘mother’ influence within the dream, I feel there maybe underlying mother issues here, either you need to be mother to a person/s or a situation or you feel a need to be mothered yourself?" In both instances I can relate.
"The second thing is the water element to your dream. I always associate ‘water’ with emotions. The water has layers to it, underneath is swirling but on top is still like glass. To me I would read this as, although you seem strong and put a good outer face/mirror forward, underneath you might be suppressing hidden depths to your emotions, but these emotions are making their way to the surface within your subconscious thoughts, and manifesting within your dreams." I can relate to this. And much of the rest of your interpretation also. Very good Lorraine.
Thank you all again my lovely friends. I value and appreciate you all so much.
Love and light Kaz
