THE TWILIGHT HOUR
Here I am in the twilight hour With shadows for company I stare into the embers of the hearth Where once there was a radiant blaze And I recall This room warmed and illuminated with love Abundant with joy and laughter But all too soon the fire does dim And I, I am here alone with the memories Of loved ones now gone from here I watch the cinders slowly fade And I welcome the night as it edges in I know that I too must leave this space As sure as shadows grow darker I softly close my eyes To sleep forever more
Dear Friends, I have just penned this poem, I have no idea where it came from or why it came to me, but as the light here faded and I had some beautiful music playing in the background...these words just flowed into my head and so I wrote them down and I wanted to share them here with you my friends. Love and Light

Beautiful poem Lorraine.. I was there in the room with you, watching the fire and remembering happier times. I suppose as we capture them in our memory they stay with us always. But I sometimes wish I could stay in that moment forever. How often we take those times for granted. I remember gatherings when I was a child, with my grandparents at christmas time particularly. Happy chatter, lots of loving hugs and smiles and such a feeling of warmth and safety. It's been a very long time since I've felt that. I can recall them all now in my minds eye. Your poem brought it back for me. Thank you for that my friend, and thank you for your gift of words. Love and light Kaz

Hi Lorraine, Wonderful! I like it. The following is just my friendly teasing. ok? The twice light hour: a parodyHere I am in the twice light hour With (hot) coco for company It (goes) straight into the ember of the hearth Where once there were raising blazes But when I recall about my old friends Then, this room become warm and illuminates with love Abundant with joy and laughter Though the fire of remembering does dim too soon, And I, I am here alone with those memories Of loved ones just have gone from here I watch my (hot) coco slowly fade And I welcome the night as it edges in I know that I too must leave this room As sure as shadows grow darker (But hey!, I can make another one!) …………………. I softly close my eyes, and sip another delicious coco more (yummy!)

The last one up gets to turn off the lights. But the sound turns off by itself. No waste! You do wonder though - when it is finished for the night - and your the last one left. How did it go? Okay?
When everyone leaves the sound goes too ....so there is nobody to tell you if it was so. Then you start to realise how discomforting the quiet can be. A "night light" makes us feel safe. But what if the nemesis is closer to home?
Sometimes all we can do is hide in the noise ....

Hi Lorraine, How’s about this? This room is warm enough? P.S. I used an auto (randomly) arrange program (only regular members with the real avatars.) Sorry if I missed someone. My memory is not so good lately.

Nice one Monty... I love it. Yes I'm toasty and warm in this room, and feel very much at home.

Thank you Karen for your lovely words and I am glad you could connect with the room within my poem...and I know for some maybe it sounded a little sad or maybe morbid even...but the poem was far deeper than that...with much more meaning than first meets the eye. But you Karen felt the heartbeat of the poem. Thank you. Sorry again about short replies using my mobile and its terrible keypad for typing and navigating the forum.
