As kaz posted a great thread, fear and control, this clip is related to it. Sorry for some violent content, but al least, it’s in the context of joking. Are we acting like that parrot, to survive? “I love you”? Really? Why not only, “Don’t shoot me?” To survive, do we need to flatter other people (cruel boss etc.)? I honestly don’t know the answer. Sometimes, I still have to do something like that even I really don’t want to. One of my friend hasn’t got his full salary for 3 months (got only a half.) He has kids and has to pay monthly mortgage. Quitting is not his option now. So, he still has to act like that parrot. G.K. Chesterton said, “Do not free a camel of the burden of his hump; you may be freeing him from being a camel.”One the first look, it seems freeing from bring a camel (meant to be a carrier for heavy burden) is the best. But is it possible? In the real life situation, there are so many factors involved. I just hope that I will not do something like flatter other people to survive, if it’s possible. Yes, sometimes, so many times, it’s still impossible for me. Hahaha.
