Hi alena,
Our friends here (especially kaz and ace) may give you the better answer than me, as they have been Reiki (hand on healing) healers for many years. Please wait for a while or come back to check it later (it’s about the very difference of the time zone.)
Meanwhile, let me welcome you to this forum. :-)
What is “NY healing”? Sorry, I really don’t understand (English is not my first language.) New York healing?
Anyway, if you meant “psychic ability” I think you are going to miss something more important. Suffice to say that there are two kinds of psychic abilities, nature (gift) versus nurture. Yes, someone might be born with this psychic gift. As for those who don’t have this gift, as far as I know (and from my own experience), after they have been walking on their spiritual path for some times, they will automatically get some kind of psychic abilities (maybe not all of them but most of them.) But that is not the real goal of spiritual practice anyway. (I will not bother you with its details here.) So, if you want to develop your psychic abilities, even for helping and healing others), if it’s without any spiritual practice, you will be missing the important point. Let me give you an example, there’s a card called “Zener cards” using to develop ESP or extrasensory perception (now it even comes in Android app. lol) Yes, after anyone “guessing” these cards for a while, they will gain some extrasensory perception, but not clairvoyance for sure (again, let me skip about its details of so many factors, trail and error etc.) but I don’t think their spirituality would be developed because of that abilities they got. Ok, let’s focus only healing ability, especially hand on healing. Normally, everyone has this ability without knowing about it. What is the first thing you do when you get hurt at some spot on your body? You reach “your hand” to that very spot, right? And somehow it makes you feel better. Yes, this ability can be developed more and more but again it still has something to with calming and clearing your mind (meditation.) Now you could see my point, anyone who is practicing mediation will automatically get this abilities whether they know/want it or not. However, there are also another ways to boost your “inner” energy (prana/chi), such as being in the fresh air, among the trees and absorbing pure energy from them etc. Oh, don’t know if I have been diverting so far or not. To make the long short, how to be in alignment with your soul and the universe is start walking on your spiritual path. :-)

I want to be in alignment with my soul and the universe! Hi alena. There are as many ways as there are human souls. Look within, become aware of your soul's desires, then move your life in that direction.

Hi again alena, I’ve just come across this story. Hope you like it. :-) There was a boy who lived in the island if Borneo who was not a complete boy. He was only bad, and no one could find any good in him. Some said that the half-boy lost his good half. Others were exasperated by the practical jokes he played on the unsuspecting and the mischief he continually got into. He was known for splattering mud on clean wash, throwing fruit at farm workers, and spoiling the fun other children were having. As a result, whenever he was near anyone, he was chased, cursed, and jeered. As the half-boy grew older, he become more and more lonely; his tricks became more and more annoying, disruptive, and dangerous. The villagers spoke of driving the boy out of the village to get rid of him. One day, a beautiful woman said to him, “You are only half a person, and that half is only the bad half. Somewhere out there is your other half—the good half. Find the other half, come back with it, and I will marry you!” No one had ever spoken honestly and directly to the boy before. He was so taken by surprise that he said to the woman, “You are the only person who has ever said a kind word to me. I will begin my search tomorrow, and I will not return until I have my good half so that I can be whole.” The very next day, the boy started off on his quest. Stopping at many villages, he inquired about the whereabouts of another half-boy. Each person sent him farther and farther up the road saying that he had heard of or seen another half-boy in the distant village. After several days of travel, the boy arrived at a village where he was met with surprise. “Another half-boy,” the astonished villagers said. Soon the two half-boys met. They were a perfect match: the same height, the same color hair, the same complexion. The only difference was in their eyes; one had cold, discouraged eyes; the other had soft, warm, happy eyes. [Does the story bore you? But I have no way to know if you want me to stop, so let me continue? ] The villagers debated how to join the two halves to make a whole. The villager chief told them that they would have go off into the jungle and wrestle there for as long as necessary, until they found themselves growing together. “It will be a quick contest,” said the bad half-boy. “Don’t be so certain,” stated the good half-boy. “I have the spirit of the sunrise in me.” The bad half-boy smiled and said, “The spirit of night is in me and it is even more powerful. It can distinguish the fire of sunrise.” The two went off into a jungle clearing where they began to struggle with one another. All night long they wrestled. At sunset, the bad half-boy had the advantage. But his gain was reversed at daybreak. The boys battled until the next day. Then all was clam. The villagers saw a handsome young man coming toward them. “The two half-boys are now one,” announced the villager chief. Although he was welcome to stay in the village, the whole boy announced that he would return to find the maiden who believed in him… -from “Old tale for a new day: Early answers to life eternal questions by Fahs, S.,&Cobb, A. (Oh! I've forgot to tell the end part of the story? Sorry. :-)Upon his return, she recognized him at once and told the others that their half-boy had accepted his good half and was now a whole person like everyone else. The villagers began to like the transformed half-boy; the maiden loved him, and they were married soon after. This story can be interpreted as worldly and spiritual one (not to mention about fantasy :-) ) As for worldly interpretation many bachelor boys are really like that the bad half-boy until their (going to be) wives inspire them to find their good half-boys, to become a whole. to become “mature”. As for spiritual interpretation, walking on spiritual path is trying to find another half of ourselves that we had lost. Maybe it used to be with us at the beginning but somehow we lost it. We try to become one with it as a whole again. That is the purpose/goal of spirituality. And yes, we will align with our souls and the universe again, as a whole, finally. P.S. As baangus just said above, to be in alignment with your soul and the universe, "there are as many ways as there are human souls." Try to choose a path that your heart tells you to go and changes it when your heart tells you to change. (Yes, this is from a famous spiritual quote.) :-)

Frank Fools Crow said that we only had to become the hollow bone. The teacher Jesus said to be in the world, but not of it. People doing 12-step work develope what we call conscious contact. In truth it is all the same work. Do your personal clearing work and get all of the crap out.

Hi alena, Glad to see you here. :-)
Hi kaz, Thanks. I’ve just come back from my nephew’s wedding (or should say that I fled from it. Hahaha) I really don’t like the place where there are so many people. Will post something later.

[note-I think this post is still related to this thread.]Hi again kaz, I have been fascinated by a metaphor and story telling (in healing) for many years. For example, there is a sacred text of Hinduism called The Atharvaveda (one of the four Vedas) which the text dates from c. 1200–1000 BCE. This charm or Mantra used for the harmony and avoidance of discord in a home. Somehow it’s very close to an induction in hypnosis. :-) Charm at an assignation.1. The bull with a thousand horns who rose out of the sea, with the aid of him, the mighty one, do we put the folks to sleep. 2. The wind blows not over the earth. No one looks on. Do thou then, befriended of Indra, put all women and dogs to sleep! 3. The women that lie upon couches and upon beds, and they that rest in litters, the women all that exhale sweet fragrance, do we put to sleep. 4. Every moving thing I have held fast. Eye and breath I have held fast. I have held fast all limbs in the deep gloom of the night. 5. Of him that sits, and him that walks, of him that stands and looks about, of these the eyes we do shut, just as these premises (are shut). 6. The mother shall sleep, the father shall sleep, the dog shall sleep, the lord of the house shall sleep! All her relations shall sleep, and these people round about shall sleep! 7. O sleep, put thou to sleep all people with the magic that induces sleep! Put the others to sleep until the sun rises; may I be awake until the dawn appears, like Indra, unharmed, uninjured! -Hymns of the Atharva-Veda translated by Bloomfield, M.Hmm…or we can talk about something else more shorter? :-) For example, Ideas Are Plants: His ideas have finally come to fruition. That idea died on the vine. That’s a budding theory. It will take years to come to full flower. He views chemistry as a mere offshoot of physics. The seeds of his great ideas were planted in his youth. She has a fertile imagination. Here’s an idea that I’d like to plant in your mind. He has a barren mind. - The Metaphorical Structure of the Human Conceptual System by G. Lakoff And what is metaphor, then? Robert Nisbet (Social Change and History, 1969) said, "Metaphor is a way of knowing—one of the oldest, most deeply embedded, even indispensable ways of knowing in the history of human consciousness. It is, at its simplest, a way of proceeding from the known to the unknown. It is a way of cognition in which the identifying qualities f one thing are transferred in an instantaneous, almost unconscious, flash of insight to some other thing that is, by remoteness or complexity, unknown to us." Another good quote: The fairy tale is therapeutic because the patient finds his own solutions, through contemplating what the story seems to imply about him and his inner conflicts at this moment in his life. The content of the chosen tale usually has nothing to do with the patient's external life, but much to do with his inner problems, which seem incomprehensible and hence unsolvable. The fairy tale clearly does not refer to the outer world, although it may begin realistically enough and have everyday features woven into it. The unrealistic nature of these tales (which narrow-minded rationalists object to) is an important device, because it makes obvious that the fairy tales' concern is not useful information about the external world, but the inner processes taking place in an individual. -The Uses of Enchantment: The Meaning and Importance of Fairy Tales by Bruno Bettelheim Anyway, I used to read these stories from here and there, from many books, until I cannot recall which story is from which book. Lucky that there’s Google, for googling, any time I think of some good story to share.

Hi alena,
Hmm...I just used to read a lot, including various ancient texts: The Bhagavad Gita, Vedas etc. Almost 30 years ago, while I was searching on my spiritual path, I even joined "Hare Krisna movement" once! :-)
Maybe you used to see those "Hare Krisna movement" people, chanting and dancing on a street. The Bhagavad Gita is the important text of this group. And lots of lots of meditation.

Yes, it is one of the best ancient texts. I was thinking of some of its quote that I liked most but could not find it anywhere.
It goes like this:
Dharma is for benefit of mankind but why on one practicing it? Yes, I live in Thailand. I’m Thai. :-)
P.S. Did you succeed in sign in our chat room? Here is some hint.
As far as I know, you start with clicking on “Spiritual chat” next to “Spiritual forum” on the top of the page, it will brings you to our chat room (Spiritual chat.) Ignore “You have 1 new message!” on the top, it’s just…some technical error or something. :-) Then, type your name (sign in.) Normally, you can join the chat room even you are not the member. But sometimes, only sometimes, you have to do something more than that…but sometimes that doesn’t work, I meant it’s a bit complicated as you have to create your (very short) profile to avail you to chat with any chat room, including this one. Anyway, the last time I checked, you don’t need to do that. Just sign in, then, it’s done. Hmm...I'm not sure about Android. Maybe you have to download some Android software before you are able to chat?
And as you already knew, The Chat Room will open daily at 6pm GMT 1pm EST

Hi alena, Good to hear. Yes, that’s the charming of our chat room. Most of our friends there are so sweet and…urh...so old (including me. ) Still, I felt a lot younger every time I went there, even I’m already 53. :-) Some of my dear friends who are over 50. :-) 1. Liz…she was a nurse and a Reiki healer. Now she retired from our chat room after had been there for 2 years. 2. Ace Many friends (including me) used to think that he was a woman!. He has a lot of knowledge and lots of joke to share (even I rarely got his deep joke sometimes. lol) He’s also doing spiritual healing. 3. Kaz She has been a Reiki healer for many years. And she’s so nice and kind and full of wisdom. 4. Sue I remember the first time she came to the chat room, she still had a hard time trying to use her computer and keyboard (come on, she’s 77!) She is very fond of Edgar Cayce’s work. 5. Gruntal He loves dogs and considers them as his family. He has unique style in writing (some kind of indirect communication, if not many directive communications. lol) Some friends who are under 50. Spiral loves to draw…urh…a spiral. :-) Djazz. He’s professional jazz musician. etc. [Hmm…all above is just to name but a few. Sorry if I didn’t mention someone else.] Oh! yes, and we also have “Godlight.” Whenever everything in the chat room goes wrong, he will come out to put it back to the right track. He’s kind of guardian angle there. P.S. I’m very luck that I’ve found this forum (sorry, Donna, for borrowing your lines ) and chat room and all of very nice friends here. I have felt like I’m back to be me completely again. Thanks from my heart to all of my spiritual friends here.

Oops! To my dear friend, Lorraine (angel) I didn’t mention you on my previous post because we have been interacting here, on the forum, more than the chat room. Besides, I always see that you are an old soul, so I didn’t want to put you on the list of “over 50.”

Dear Lorraine, I was going to explain you about my friendly punch on my previous post but let me say this instead. One great thing I’ve learnt from life is a true friendship has always been there even when everyone is gone (including my two ex True friendship is like a gem, very precious one, a first water diamond. I do appreciate your friendship. You will always in my heart, my friend. P.S. Anyway, from time to time, you have to bear with my joke and forgive me. I’m really not good at telling a joke even it’s always meant to be friendly.
