the pattern that connects
from The Dead Zone Season 2 Episode 5 (Precipitate)
I used to watch this TV series many years ago and really loved it, especially this episode. If we could watch it online, I recommend you to do it. It's worth your time.
I'm sorry that I could not find the (complete) clip of this. The (short) one I post here lacks a bit at the end.
Johnny, our hero, could see the future and tried to stop a series of bad events which all coinciding at a public square where the death would take place at 3:00 PM.
In this clip, it shows "vision in slow motion." The first man just gave flowers to his girlfriend. They were in love. She felt so happy and wanted to share her happiness to the others, too. She saw the fat man who looked sad and gave him a flower to cheer him up. That fat man felt good suddenly and gave his pizza and money to the beggars (he never done that.) When one beggar lean his cup for those coins, it reflected light to the young man who was sitting. He raised his eyes from his book and saw the car was coming and was going to hit that delivery boy (in fact, it was a cute girl :-) in black who was riding her bike down the stairways. And she didn’t see the car was coming.
There's saying in Buddhist dharma, “Because of this, therefore that.” If that woman didn’t gave a flower to the fat man, if the fat man didn’t gave his money to the beggar etc. There would be a tragic accident. Because of this, therefore that. Everything is really connected. Each one little good deed can change the world. So does one little bad deed. As Francis Thompson said,
“...You cannot stir a flower,
without troubling a star”
This reminds me of the following story: A teacher told his student to take a chicken to kill in the place where no one could see him. After some time he came back with still alive chicken and said, “But master, everywhere I went, there was still someone there seeing me….Myself.” :-)
