Just burnt my finger while boiling a water for my coffee. The pain is bearable. Just don’t like that annoying swelling later. Make it hard to type my keyboard. Hahaha! Thanks in advance.

Run it under cold water tap for at least ten minutes Monty. I know it seems a long time, but you need to remove the heat from the scald. I would also wrap it in a damp cold cloth till it stops hurting. Hope this advice comes in time to do some good

When I get cut I apply water on it for a minute, thanks for letting me know it works in burnt as well. I don't remember the last time I got burnt, I guess I used to apply some cream for the annoying feeling...

Hi Hemantm,
When I lived in the forest, Aloe vera was so good for this. Now it's not hard to find, but it's still hard to have it in my room here. hahaha.

My part Rottweiler - part German Shepard mix seems to have good "doggie anti-septic" qualities but when I mention that to my friends that seem to get disgusted I would let my dog lick my wounds. You would think I would be mentioning that on purpose just to aggravate people!
Then again it does feel good in more ways then one ....and I am sure you kids just love the aggravation. But contrary to popular belief I do stock up on band-aids in case of emergencies - which for me can be turning the door knob the wrong way if I get impatient. So I have to either cut down on my blood thinners and risk having a stroke or use more caution in opening and closing doors.

Hi Gruntal, Hahaha, it's ok, I got it. How about this? When I lived in the forest, every monks there told me to drink (at least) 4-6 glasses of water as soon as I woke up. They told me if I brush my teeth first, it would not work. I was ok with that. But urh...as for drinking my own urine was something I never dared to try. I don't mind about modern medication (drug, pill) though I know about its bad side effect. Living in urban area, I don't have much choice. Besides, time is essential here. For example, it will take me at least an hour or more to meditate (relaxation etc.) for stopping my pain while aspirin could do that for me in a few minutes (if not in seconds). lol There are many so good herbs that are really good for health: (fresh) garlic is so good for preventing high blood pressure; sliced lemon (with its peel) for curing bad cough; curcuma (yellow root?) for curing for gastric disorders etc. I mean, after I tried some modern pills, they didn't work. But these herbs really did, all the time.

That is something new I learnt because I only knew Aloe vera was useful for making your skin look beautiful as I have used some Aloe vera body lotion, great to know I can apply it on burnt. Have you heard people eat Aloe Vera, I once heard it but not sure as it tastes very bitter, I just accidentally tasted it as I was applying it on my face just for having a glow on my face.

Hi Hemantm, As Alrena said, here they make dessert (jelly, with syrup, put in yogurt or preserve etc.) and beverage from Aloe vera, too. I tried it once in a while as I like sweet. And they were yummy. Anyway, any processed foods always lost their originated nutritive values, so not to mention about herbs. For example, garlic capsule (tablet) doesn’t work well as the value of garlic (for curing high blood pressure) is its oil. So, you have to eat it fresh, and don't chop/mince it first. But Aloe vera is really good for any kind of burns and inflammations. And burns can be healed so quickly and the pain reduced very quickly by applying Aloe Vera to the burn area. I knew this very well as we (monks and I) used to fight with the forest fire every year and used it a lot. lol

Hi hemantm, As Alena and I are Asian, we kind of already know about this in our countries. So I searched the following information to comfort you (about eating it) Researcher Robert Davis, Ph.D., an endocrinologist-biologist, explains that Aloe vera's effects cannot be synthesized easily in a laboratory. On the upside, this makes the plant useful across a wide spectrum of circumstances. And because the various elements that make it effective are nutrients rather than drugs, the juice may complement medical treatments. In fact some cancer patients state that Aloe vera seems to reduce nausea, increase energy, and may help to minimize low blood counts caused by chemotherapy or radiation. Aloe Vera can also be taken internally so it is just as useful for internal epithelial tissue as it is for the skin. For example, mouth and stomach ulcers, nasal and sinuses, bowels, lungs and genital tracts. Aloe works on membranes and surfaces. Aloe also seems to be excellent at regulating the immune system (an immunomodulator). This means it can both stimulate the immune response for those with weakened immune systems either from exisiting conditions or post-illness fatigue. It can also calm the immune response, such as for Hayfever where less immune reaction is beneficial. The ingredients in Aloe can be grouped into the following categories: Vitamins (tt is often reported Aloe Vera is one of the only known natural vegetarian sources of Vitamin B12), Minerals, Sugars, Enzymes, Lignins, Amino Acids, Anthraquinones, Saponins, Fatty Acids, Salicylic Acid. Aloe Vera Helps Immune SystemNumerous studies worldwide indicate that it is a general tonic for the immune system, helping it to fight illness of all kinds. Various research studies are underway to explore the potential of the components to boost immunity and combat the HIV virus, and to treat certain types of cancer (particularly leukemia). It may even have a role to play in managing diabetes. Over 200 worldwide scientific research papers have been published on the effects. The three main categories of research include anti-inflammatory, anti- bacterial, and anti-viral actions of the plant. The juice is said to soothe digestive tract irritations such as colitis, ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome. It's ability to encourage the release of pepsin (a gastric juice enzyme necessary for digestion) when the stomach is full is a possible reason for its ulcer-healing effects (Journal of the American Osteopathic Society, 1963, vol.62). In one study, oral use for six months helped mitigate asthma symptoms in almost half of the participants. Eleven of twenty-seven patients studied who drank Aloe reported feeling better at the end of the study. Researchers think that results might be due to stimulation of the immune system, as well as naturally occurring anti-inflammatory agents in the plant. In 1994, the US Food and Drug Administration approved Aloe vera for the treatment of HIV. On-going studies worldwide show that taken in highly concentrated doses can stimulate the production of white blood cells that may help fight viruses and also tumours. Aloe vera nutrients listAloe vera contains protein, calcium, magnesium, zinc, vitamins A and E and is naturally rich in: Vitamin C which helps maintain tone of blood vessels and promotes good circulation and is essential to the health of the adrenal gland which supports our body in times of stress. Amino acids which are chains of atoms constructing protein in our body. Enzymes, which are the life-principle in every live, organic atom and molecule of natural raw food, rejuvenate aged tissues and promote healthy skin. Germanium which is a mineral that some health authorities claim therapeutic benefits for: immunodeficiency, pain, cardiac disorders, circulatory disturbances and eye problems. Aloe vera body cleansing juiceThe juice is said to be one of the finest body cleansers, cleaning morbid matter from the stomach, liver, kidneys, spleen, bladder, and is considered the finest, known colon cleanser. Studies have shown that it is healing and soothing in the relief of indigestion, stomach distress and ulcers. People claim relief from arthritis, bladder and kidney infections; leg cramps, constipation, hemorrhoids, insomnia, and for vaginitis, it is said to be an excellent girl thingyl douche. An excellent internal tonic for energy and well being Aloe juice may add greatly to the strength of the food fed, digestive tract, skin, and overall good health and happiness. It is also used to ease heartburn, ulcers, diverticular disorders, and other types of digestive upset. It is used as an anti-inflammatory and may be taken internally as a remedy for certain digestive complaints. European folk medicine calls for using the juice to relieve heartburn and ulcers. Preliminary research has shown promising results. Clinical trials in Japan indicate that certain compounds in the herb reduce the secretion of stomach juices and the formation of lesions. In 1997, University of San Antonio researcher Jeremiah Herlihy, Ph.D., conducted a study to observe any negative effects of drinking it daily. Rather than exhibiting negative effects, however, test animals receiving daily Aloe showed a remarkable reduction in leukemia, heart disease, and kidney disease. Dr. Herlihy concluded, "We found no indication of harm done to the rats even at high levels." In fact, the Aloe-drinking animals actually lived 25 percent longer than those in the control group (IASC Conference, Texas, 1997). -from Herbwisdom.com

I find this very interesting too. I have used moisturisers with Aloe Vera in them and have loved the results of that. I am liking the sound of it's uses for conditions such as sinus problems. I suffer with allergies to dust and cat fur ( I love cats) and so suffer the problem rather than get rid of my Isis. I can't say though that I've seen any products, food and drinks with Aloe in them. Would the best place to check be the health food shops? I wonder how expensive it is. I noticed in Spain, moisturisers with Aloe in were very cheap. But here in the UK it is expensive. Thank you so much Monty and Alena for the information and advice. Love and light Kaz

Hi Karen, Here it's not expensive as it's easy to grow everywhere. Hmm...I'm curious if it has a sceond name there? I mean Aloe vera is just a scientific/Latin name, right? Here, in my country, it's called, "(Herb of) crocodile's tail."

Hi Hemantm,
(Sorry for my late reply).
Hahaha, I'm still a bit confused. Let me confirm it again here. You are going to join Ayahuasca retreat (spiritual) centre which is located in other country, Brazil. And you are from somewhere else, right? Hmm...then, you should recheck its information twice (or thrice). I mean it concerns a lot of expense for doing that (even it's authentic place). Though you don't mind about the expense, I still believe any good spiritual retreats are the same. Exotic or not should not the issue, right? In my opinion, the less famous place is the better. As it will be more calm and peaceful. Besides, you don't have to deal with crowd there. hahaha.
