Dreaming is a part of life. Everyone dreams. They dream for as long as they live. Even unborn babies dream in their mothers' womb. Dreams are the roots for the state yet to come. Dream is an event that takes place in the world of the mind when the whole physical body has gone to rest.
Dreams are the gateway to an inner world, a world just as real as the one outside. Dreams inform us in a visual language about repressed experiences and other processes of the unconscious mind. Dream images and activities, however strange and even meaningless as they may seem, have symbolic meanings.
Dreams became psychotherapy's most important aid in exploration of the unconscious. Knowledge of the meaning of these symbols is of great assistance in the interpretation of your sweetest and most dreadful dreams.
Dreams have been a mystery to us since Adam first breathed life. The substance of legends, myths and fairy tales, dreams have always fascinated mankind. We can learn much from our dreams, if we only but listen with a trained ear. There is nothing psychic about understanding dreams. There is a certain degree of intuition, coupled with logic and a working knowledge of dreaming involved.
Origin of Dreams
To interpret your dreams, you need to determine what type of dream you are dealing with. There are two categories that they fit into, those that are generated from within your physical body and mind and those that come from your spirit guides or tutors. They have different purposes and it’s necessary to recognize what these differences mean to you and how they interact in your waking and dreaming state.
Dreams that originate from the physical body are for your functioning and survival in the world of physical nature. They deal with your physical and psychological well being. These dreams are like your manager and janitor who try to keep body and mind tidy for your general well being.
Then, there are those dreams that have a mystical and special characteristic to them which are for your spiritual development and
progress. They produce instant knowledge and information that is beyond your ability to garner through intellectual or logical methods.
When you are asleep, so is the physical component of your self. The five senses, smelling, tasting, feeling, seeing, and hearing, plus your ego, the controlling master, are all temporarily suspended from activity. Sleeping allows the other sense that you have, the sixth sense, to take over for a while without much interference. This is when both the physical body and your spiritual essence can perform maintenance simultaneously to help unwrinkle parts of your life. It’s ironic that this is the state of being that psychics and mediums practise for years to achieve, and everyone enters it every time they fall asleep.
Types of Dreams
Lucid dreaming :
You often can influence your dreams by giving yourself pre-sleep suggestions. Another method of influencing dreams is called lucid dreaming, in which you are aware you are dreaming while still asleep and in the dream. Sometimes people experience this type of dreaming spontaneously. It is often possible to learn how to increase lucid dreaming, and thereby increase your capacity to affect the course of the dream events as they unfold. Some things are easier than others to control, and indeed complete control is probably never possible. Some professional dream workers question the advisability of trying to control the dream, and encourage learning to enjoy and understand it instead.
Predictions/Myths :
There are many examples of dreams that seemed to predict future events. Some dreams may have been due to coincidence, faulty memory, or an unconscious tying together of known information. A few laboratory studies have been conducted of predictive dreams, as well as clairvoyant and telepathic dreams, but the results were varied, as these kinds of dreams are difficult to study in a laboratory setting.
There are many myths concerning dreams.Contrary to the belief that they will die if they dream of a fall, many people have dreamed that they died or hit the bottom in a fall and they have lived to tell the tale! You can explore the meaning of these kinds of images just as you would explore any others that might occur in your dreams. However, if any aspect of your dreams worries or distresses you, talk to a professional mental health practitioner about your concerns.
Vivid dreams :
Laboratory studies have shown that we experience our most vivid dreams during a type of sleep called Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep. During REM sleep the brain is very active, the eyes move back and forth rapidly under the lids, and the large muscles of the body are relaxed. REM sleep occurs every 90 - 100 minutes, 3 to 4 times a night, and lasts longer as the night progresses. The final REM period may last as long as 45 minutes. Less vivid dreams occur at other times during the night.
Recurrent dreams, which can continue for years, may be treated as any other dream. That is, one may look for parallels between the dream and the thoughts, feelings, behavior, and motives of the dreamer. Understanding the meaning of the recurrent dream sometimes can help the dreamer resolve an issue that he or she has been struggling with for years.
Amen!
God Bless Everyone!
