Indian Dream Interpretation!!

First off, please do not judge! I have come here in hopes of finding answers and receiving positive guidance to help me piece together the many lessons I have learned so far in this lifetime. I don't know how bizarre my story will sound to you....but I would like honest opinions, and real truths of what it may possibly mean.

For all my life I have had dreams of star people (some people refer to them as aliens), and also spirit guides. I have been deeply connected to them for as long as I can remember. So it was not unusual for me to have lucid type dreams growing up that had super spiritual meanings, or happenings. But one dream in particular that I had a few years ago has had a huge impact on the way I think about being connected to all that there is. It was a dream I had of an Indian man. (I am part Sioux Indian, but before the dream, I had never been big on digging into my "roots".) In my dream I awoke standing in my Grandmother's dining room...it was night time and the lights were off. There was also no furniture in the room which I found odd at first. I remember looking and seeing two grayish/brown star people on either side of me wearing white tunic looking suits. We were standing there for a moment when all of a sudden this thumping noise started coming out of the kitchen, I started panicking, but then in the archway a very tall Indian man appeared. When I seen him my heart swelled with joy. I hadn't ever seen him in this lifetime, but for some reason I felt deeply connected to him. I ran to him and we hugged. It was like seeing a long lost uncle who I had always adored....he felt like an old friend I hadn't seen in ages. It was weird how oddly familiar he was. Before this dream I had no knowledge of what Indian chiefs really looked like....I knew the jist of what they wore...but not in the detail of what I saw in my dream....he had a neck piece on that looked like a bunch of bones sewn together in a plate like covering....and also a huge headdress with a band across it that had three triangles, and also a group of feathers that hung down on both sides of the head dress by the ears....and also he was wearing this circle woven hoop thing. It was so vivid! We sat down on the floor then together as the star people stood next to us, and then we put our hands together. I remember his hands being much bigger than mine. When we put our hands together all of these tiny little roots started popping out of our hands, they were like little twisted vines that started growing together, making our hands connect. He looked at me then and with out talking he sort of gave me the meaning for it. I felt as if he were telling me that it was the way our souls...that every soul in the universe was connected. I awoke after that...and immediately started to research. I found one picture of an Indian chief and was amazed at the similarities of the way they were dressed. The Indian in my dream was wearing almost the exact same thing as the one in this picture. Please just give me your thoughts on this dream...and other interpretations on it. Dreams are multi faceted, and provide us with insight, advice and guidance on many levels.

To dream of your Grandmother is about familial guidance, feminine wisdom. It is believed that we all possess male and female energy regardless of our gender. To see your Grandmother in a dream on one level, may indicate you need reconnect with your family; as it is the family, that is our foundation. On another level, to see the older wise women, is asking you to connect with this type of higher, ancient wisdom that you hold within you. She comes at a time in your life, when you would benefit greatly from doing this.

You see your Grandmother in the dining room, it is dark and the lights are off. The house represents the dreamer. Its different rooms, all symbolising some aspect of the dreamer. In this case the dining room. The dining room, represents sustenance, nurturing and fellowship. This highlights the family aspect of this dream. Whether you have consciously admitted it or not; I believe within, you have carried a desire to know who you are, where you come from. To honour your ancestry. We receive much emotional sustenance and support from our family ties. It also gives us a sense of security of knowing we belong to a supportive group of people, who will always be there for us.

The fact that you are in darkness and there is no lights on, would indicate that this part of your life, knowledge about your past and your ancestory is unknown to you. The room holds no furniture. Furniture in a dream symbolises our beliefs, idea's and attitudes that surround you. They are an extension of you, how you define yourself. So this part of your life again, is unknown to you. I feel very much that this is something that you wish to explore. Your heritage is a big part of who you are, and not knowing, leaves a void in your sense of identity.

In your dream, you see two 'star people'. The star represents, light, direction, guidance and insight. Upliftment of spiritual vision. Powerful energy. It also represents the inner light that shine forth in the darkness. The light of your being. So for me this is about you tapping into your own inner light, using your own intuition, to guide you on your journey of self discovery. The noise that you hear from the kitchen is to get your attention. In dream symbology, the kitchen represents the work area. Cooking up schemes and idea's. A preparation for nurturing. Nurturing seems to be a constant theme that is coming through this dream. Be it nurturing a new idea or a new part of your self that is coming into being. Again this is returning to the familial theme. An arch symbolises a new opportunity or direction.

Through the arch appears a tall Indian chief. In dream symbology, a Indian represents the teacher, higher self and guidance. It may literally be that this man is a spirit guide. For me, his appearance, so vivid and familiar to you, indicates that he may even be a ancestor of yours. The Native American headdress can be many colors at once, or can consist of several feathers of one singular color. This often depends on what birds were indigenous to the area in which the tribe lived. For example, those living in the desert may only have feathers of one or two particular species of bird, while those living in the forests would have several colors. The strap that held the Native American headdress stationary on the head was usually made of leather or deer sinew. The symbolic signifiance of the birds used to feather the headdress was always important. The Native Americans believed that wearing a part of any animal imbued them with the strengths, qualities, characteristics of it. So there may also have been connections to their totem and spirit animal guides.

The bone breastplate you describe was a source of pride to the individual and was usually handcrafted for him or her by a member of the tribe whose area of speciality this was. A true status symbol, bone breastplates were originally worn as armor, for protection in battle and while hunting. Breastplates are traditionally hand crafted from hair-pipe bone, the use of which dates back as far as can be remembered. Long hair pipe beads are made from various animals’ bones; by carving out the marrow, they could be used for necklaces, chokers, breastplates, and even earrings.

Many believed that, by wearing a breastplate made by a certain gifted person or in a specific fashion, a spiritual advantage could be obtained during battles or hunts. Most tribes had a specialist who made a range of breastplates. Native warriors on vision quests often dreamed about a certain type of breastplate, which their specialist would then make for them. Most breastplate makers were aides to medicine men and shaman, or they were medicine men themselves. Rarely would a Native American make his or her own breastplate, if it was to have great spiritual power.

There are two themes coming through this dream, one is a very powerful inner need to connect with the past. To do this, you need to re connect with your native american family in the present. You are a spiritual and intuitive person, and by discovering where you came from, you will discover who you are now. The Native American people were a deeply spiritual people, who revered the land and honoured their ancestors. They lived in balance and harmony with the environment. They understood, how the web of life worked, that we are all connected. Spiritually there is no past, present or future. We are all a living embodiment of those who came before us. If this beautiful Native American Chief is a spirit guide, then you will see him again. But I feel very strongly that dream message is pointing the way for you.
