Dear friends,
Some people believe part of our life we are living now is in some way predestined - that we chose some of the situations, relationships ( both positive and some more challenging ones) and circumstances we are living out now where our "karmic" choices. The we is not our personality self but a more conscious awareness of our Higher Self who took part in the choice process. Do you believe this to be true? What things in your life do you feel are predestined and what things are not?
Thank You

Actually early on I had an idea it wouldn't happen to me. I think in many ways I was right. Is there such a thing as a Cosmic Restraint? Maybe I should have tried harder. Maybe I should have gritted my teeth more. Different shirts might have helped. I've waited all my life for my number to be called and it never was.
I'm still taking mental notes though. Was I predestined to be an observer? I could write a book about that but it never occured to me I was suposed to do so. How I managed to survive intact this far is a mystery naught to be explained rationally.
It will take seemingly forever just to find out if there is anything in the universe that isn't beyond entropy and coincidence. Then again why wasn't I born a Lemming ? The odds of avoiding that is insignificant and yet it happened to me.

Thank You . aceofcups. Hello your very interesting I personally believe each experience throughuot our physical lives are predestined. Those souls whom come into contact with each other throughout their physical lives making those choices during their meeting with the "Lord of Karma." Each soul choosing with their own volition to help each other in order they each experience those "Karmic" choices that they decided upon. Then being called back by the "Lords" to return back into a physical existence. Those souls being born at specific times becoming a future mother for example, or a lover, enemy ECT... Each specific "Karmic" experience a specific vibration, each of those vibrations placed within their "Karmic bubble" then attached to the physical body. Those vibrations being linked to the stars and orbits of the planets within our solar system. Those vibrations linking together within each soul driving the physical body and mind to be in a specific place in time. That's my take on it. What's yours? If you don't mind me asking.

Thank you benngunn for your response to my question.
To your question what I believe: My beliefs/understanding is that the general process for most Souls ( Souls are in different stages of evolution, so at different stages of the process it is a little bit different) is that the Soul consciousness of the individual with help of its inner teachers and guides examines what they need to learn in a particular lifetime. Past Karmic seeds, both good and challenging ones - along with relationships with other souls also in incarnation at the same time is taken into account. But not every situation in our life is totally predestined to me -- usually only significant situations and relationships are to me. We are also creating new Karma, some good, some bad in this life by our emotions, thoughts and activities. As an example a person can have a pre-destiny to be let’s say a Musician in this life or to be involved in a certain relationship ( not all relationships are totally predestined to me) – but what we have for lunch let’s say or other mundane tasks are not in the realm of destiny to me. We also have the possibility of moving beyond the certain pre-destiny and conditions we have chosen for this life. To me the Higher has given us a lot of free will and making certain choices within given parameters.
Just my take on the subject.
Peace, aceofcups

There are things which are predetermined through our biology, environment and social interaction but not beyond that. Our life is determined through this life, mainly our early years, and not through previous lives. While there may be karmic influences they do not amount to predetermination and would be 'large scale' rather than 'micro scale', i.e. might influence where you are born but not who you will marry, or what job you'll do.
Our life is a relatively free interplay between all and everything, with infinite possibilities opening up at all time, and not a fixed puzzle which can only be put together in one way.

Hi Ace,
I do not believe that our lives are predestined. Though having said that, I do believe, that prior to our physical birth, we consent to be part of life experiences that will facilitate opportunities to grow and evolve as spiritual and emotional human beings. But consenting to it, and knowing before hand what those experiences will be are two different things.
The twists and turns of life are so numerous and varied, it would be impossible to predict or arrange for certain things to happen at a preset time. Though I do believe, that different times of life or when we reach different ages, something happens; a trigger which sets into motion a series of events and syncronistic meetings that bring about the opportunities we consented too.
It is usually at this time I believe, that people act out of character, make what appears to be on the surface very bad decisions and wrong choices. For whether we like it or not, I do believe it is only through adversity do we really grow and mature. It is only when we are pushed to the limit, do we find out what we are capable of. What strengths and abilities would have lain dormant, had we not been challenged?
There is humility to be found in discovering we are not perfect, we do make mistakes and we can act unkindly and hurt others, even if we did not intend to. Out of these testing times, comes compassion, a loss of intolerance to the perceived weaknesses of others and a overwhelming desire to do something positive with our lives once we come out the other side.
A great question Ace, one which really made me think.
Love and light Kaz

Actually, "Yes.", some parts of our lives are pre- destined. The fact that we have certain "themes" to face and lessons to learn, by definition, means that there is a certain amount of pre- determined structure to the path of our lives.
How we deal with those situations is where free will and a lack of pre- determination comes in.
Think of it like this: We plan to encounter certain forks in the road of our lives. How we respond and which fork we take in our travels leads us to certain opportunities, while reducing others.
We actually take part in planning our own lives and existence here, prior to reincarnating, with regard to opportunities we are presented with. Even then, we don't know the outcomes.
So, the answer is, "both".

If there is a plan put together by myself and whoever may have been involved I would be pretty pissed off with myself and them.
It is not that my life is terrible but it could certainly be better and have been better. IMO that view is one for the elite, those who can afford to look at it in that way. For thousands of people who live in desperate circumstances, and their numbers may well be incerasing, it must feel that this is just blaming the victim for their misfortune.

Everyones life is connected like a web. You wil encounter spiritual people if you choose such path and vice versa. What determines the outcome of progress is life decisions and past lifes that forms your personality and also enviroment you live in and childhood. Free will is something that we undoubtly have although it is to some extent determined by genes. I once saw on a documentary that there is such a thing as love genes that more or less determines who we fall in love with. Therefore there are things that is at least more or less determined by genes. But i think that those genes in turn is determined by spiritual progress from past lives.
If we have met this person once, it is possibility to fall in love with same person again but in different lives and genes are determined accordingly to past lives and experiences.
As for misfortunes, i think we are responsible for most of our own misfortune and that can be due to choosing a decision that feeds our Ego instead of doing what's right. Sounds familiar? If we didn't have free will, we wouldn't be able to resist the decisions made by our own Ego.
Therefore we actually have free will. That's what i believe.
