From the ashes they arise Of the earth their song cries With fiery spread wide Through all skies they fly All around these shining stars All those feelings drift afar No fight to fight Nor war to win The Pheonix leaves no wake of sin
Written when I was 16 or so and was told about this mythical creature called a pheonix. Lovely concept which I've always enjoyed, though often forgotten when things are tough.

Hi Jerboa, A lovely poem. What a sensitive boy you were with such a great imagination. I have always loved the story of the Phoenix. I remember first hearing of it when I was a young girl at school, and being very upset when the time came in the story for the Phoenix to die. It was such a relief when he was reborn again. It was not until I got older, that I came to truly understand the message. That the phoenix is about transformation, and rebirth from the ashes of the old life to begin anew. I find this theme reassuring in many ways. The thought, that someone could completely mess up in their life and hit rock bottom; then at this point they realise that they cannot continue living as they were. So they shed their skin symbolically, often having gone through a extremely distressing emotional time. Sometimes called 'the dark night of the soul'. They then go through what I think of as a metamorphosis, coming through a different person, or rather the same person but scrubbed clean with a renewed sense of purpose in life. Fire was and still is used as a tool for purification. Some even write down all the things they are unhappy about in their life and the emotional pain that ties them to the past, things they need to let go of. They then burn them. This can be an extremely cathartic experience. Thank you for sharing this Jerboa, its reminded me once again of the very powerful symbolism of the Phoenix. Love and light Kaz

Hi Jerboa... a wonderful poem.... please share more. Of course, the first two comments are by Kaz and Angel both Scorpio's... The Phoenix and its Rising anew from it's ashes is one of Scorpio's and Pluto's (its ruling planet) most exalted archetypical symbols. It's Image has been part of the mythological stores of the Greeks, in Egyptian mythology (Benu Bird), and a sacred symbol to the Alchemists.
Having a Scorpio Ascendent myself I also have an affinity to its image and meaning for many years.
May the Phoenix Forever Fly Free within Us All.
