During the "Hajj" and "Umrah", Muslims are to circumambulate the "Kaaba" (most sacred site in Islam) seven times, in a counterclockwise direction. To perform "Tawaf" a person must purify the heart , the soul and detach himself from worries (job, money, ....). A male performing the Tawaf must wear a pure white cloth made with only one piece - and only this nothing above , nothing under. For females it is not necessary.
Many prayers are said during the Tawaf "Allah Akbar" - Allah is greater- , "Labeyik Allah omma Labeyik , Labeyik la shareek lak Labeyik , in al Hamda wall na3matta , lak wall-molk laa shareek lak " - Your servants Allah your servants, your servants no partner is yours ,your servants, the praise and the grace, is yours and power , no partner is yours .
Many ask "Why do Muslims perform it?" It's a reminder for how God is great. It's an imitation for daily actions that we do not think of every random day ,from the tiny electrons which rotates around the nucleus , to the large planets which around the sun . It reminds us of how tiny we are for Allah as same as bacteria is tiny to us and unnoticeable. It's a revival for the soul with unity and energy . All humans are equal , all humans are the same TINY .
