Hi everybody, I would like to share a dream I had last night and would welcome any thoughts and interpretations of it. I have my own idea's, but rarely interpret my own dreams as I feel I am too emotionally attached to them and can be influenced because of it. It is also always good to get a fresh perspective as I am just as guilty at times as others of not thinking 'outside the box'.
I am walking through a village that reminds me of a place I lived for many years from childhood till my early twenties. As you go out of the village, there is a humped backed bridge running over a river. Beside it is a house. In my dream it appears that the entrance to the house is actually under the bridge.
The top part of the house is a shop. I was going to the shop to buy some sweets. For some reason instead of going in through the upper part of the shop I climb down off the bridge to enter it lower side which is beside the river.
I look through the window of the house and see a couple embracing. So I decide to wait as to not disturb them. When I start to look at the stone wall beside the house. Which is kind of underneath the arch of the stone bridge. If that makes any sense. I noticed first of all that there is a shape engraved upon it. Quite large in the shape of a shield. In the centre of the shield, is a big tree and then over the top of it, it looks as if someone has carved a face. Its all white, there are no colours for definition. But it reminds me of those carved heads of someone like Plato or Socrates .
I then notice to the left hand side on the outline of the shield are carved symbols. Some look runic and others look like Egyptian Hieroglyphs. I was able to remember them when I woke and wrote them down. On the last rune, the symbol was facing the other way. The Egyptian figures were a man with a jackal head, a man with a bull/cows head with long horns and a long legged bird with a long bill. The couple in the house come to the door to see what I wanted. I say to them, do you realise you have these amazing carvings here. They seem surprised. I forget about buying anything and start walking home. I noticed a part of the river bed was drying up and see stone work being revealed. To my amazement there are symbols carved into this stone work too. I think wow its been there all the time but the water was covering it up. I don't remember what these symbols were. I then meet up with my son who gives me a black wrist watch for a present with a black square face and red trim on it. Don't you just love how random dreams can be. Well that's my dream, I would welcome any comments, insights or interpretations. Love and light Kaz

Dear Karen,
Thank you for sharing your dream. I am not going to even pretend to know how to interpret dreams but what I can do is say what feelings I got when reading your dream. Ok here goes...
The first thing you mention is a village from your youth memory. I feel that maybe recently you have been thinking of the past or have been reminded of your past in your waking life and that maybe this has triggered this part of your dream.
The river to me feels like travel. I feel either you would ‘like’ to travel or ‘want’ to travel but you never cross the bridge in your dream something is holding you back, you go around it, which I think you are either unsure about travelling or you are avoiding crossing it.
The house as you have said represents “Our Self”. So I will leave that up to you Karen to fully interpret but I feel that the sweet shop represents something in you that you desire and that you are capable of getting but you never quite reach it, or you choose to get distracted by other things instead.
Looking through the window feels like you are looking within yourself. You see a couple embracing and don’t want to disturb them. This feels like a relationship of some kind between your inner and outer self to me Karen, I feel like you don’t want to face your inner self and choose to distract yourself instead by looking at the symbols.
A lot of your dream involves that river running through it, or you are aware that the river is there, and you seem to be looking underneath a lot, does this mean you are also searching underneath? It feels like you are searching for something in your dream. Which I feel relates to your past as most of your dream seems to relate to past memories (Village), past history (Plato) and symbols from the past (Hieroglyphs).
I can’t remember what the runes stand for as I have not done them in over 20 years and I have forgotten most of the symbols but I remember ‘I’ stands for or represents Ice, which maybe means you are frozen at this point in your life. You are at a standstill and the bridge is there for you but something is keeping you from crossing over it.
The couple feels like your inner self to me, and I notice that it is the couple (inner self) that wants to know what you (outer self) want. It feels to me like your outer self is trying to get your inner self to notice that you have something amazing but you have just not noticed before now.
You forget about buying anything because you got distracted and then instead of going (forwards) for what you want you turn instead and choose to go home (backwards). You notice the river again in your dream and that part of it is drying up...only to reveal more symbols. You seem relieved a little by this because the water is gone you can now see what lies under it (underneath again!)
It feels like your son is giving you a gift of time Karen, either that or you feel that the timing must be right to move forward or that maybe you need your sons approval before you can move forward? I don’t know what the colours mean Karen only that red for me means energy and passion and black means in the dark or something hidden.
I really enjoyed doing this Karen and I might be as far off the mark as possible but I only went with how I felt reading it and what impressions I got from your dream. Anyway hopefully you have enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. I almost feel I was in the dream with you doing this LOL.
Anyway there you have it.
Love and Light (and sweet dreams)

Water for me is always spirituality and a bridge is something that can insulate me from water. I would say that the water is a flow of spiritual awareness flowing threw your life. And as it moves it can uncover keys to knowledge that have always been there. Runes and hieroglyphics are keys to knowledge. The knowledge is in us all, the keys just unlock it so that we can comprehend it. Crop circles are similar. See them like an icon on a computer that unlocks something in our genetic memory and our DNA. The house is you and the couple is also you. The mystics speak of what they call the grand marriage, it is when the male and the female in us all come together. This marriage is what awakens us, it is when we step from duality into non-duality consciousness. You have chosen not to fully awaken at this time so that you can go out and explore more of what the spiritual flow is uncovering. The son gives you a watch and it is square. Hard angles and squares are of the male and curves and circles are of the female. I would say that your male side is asking for more time to explore and awaken. The hard colors are male and the softer pastels are female.

Actually I had a similar dream: I was crossing the Los Angeles River (which at this time and place is cement lined and is nothing more then a huge flood control ditch). But in my dream is it natural but with ancient ruins all over it! I thought in my dream how amazing this is and why I don't come here more to investigate.
But in regards to villages and shops and an admixture of quaintness and sophistication. I never take dreams literally; I always think they are everything we see or want to see but in a different state of consciousness. Tunnel vision at least to me reigns supreme and dreams are an endless encore of things never forgotten. They get interposed on everything else to the point of utter incongruity and yet they play out in our dreams as if they happened all at once. They don't but we remember them as if they did.
So why the village with the impossible entrance to the shop? I guess it is because small towns with small spaces still exist in an incomprehensible large world. That works on many levels. I do not take dream symbols literally and in fact I almost never in my dreams have recognized speech or languages. But the fact they exist suggests we live with them and I am not surprised you saw them in your dream. The shield with a tree and then a classic bust is most revealing. We live in a natural world but as humans we tend to instinctively render it as a static sculptured statement of art and science.
We create with words and tools a simile of the the world around us but it is not alive or even organic. This is acceptable when we are awake but when sleeping the two butt up against each other and we are at a lost to explain it away. Not surprisingly the couple could not see this. How could they? It wasn't there. Except you saw it in your dreams. And wondered at the all. How come nobody noticed it before?
The answer is simple: it wasn't there. At least not in an ordinary sense. But we sometimes live in simple surroundings that belie our profound introduction to science and history. We know there are things minute unseen like atoms and electricity. We know things existed long ago and had many adventures. We know logically beyond what we can see and yearn to actually see them. What a thrill to discover things ancient laying at our feet! And yet the mystery just forever beckons. Even if we see the hidden it is not revealed to us what it means.
Lastly the watch present. No meaning. Gifts are gifts. As predators we don't live for gifts and that surprises us when we get them. "How nice". "Thank you". It goes against our perception of constant struggle to acquire. Or perceive. That works on many levels.

Dear Lorraine, Ishtahota and George, First of all I would like to thank you all for your interpretation of my dream. I was impressed by all of you and could relate to a lot of what each of you said. Below are some of the things that you said that stood out the most for me. Lorraine.. "A lot of your dream involves that river running through it, or you are aware that the river is there, and you seem to be looking underneath a lot, does this mean you are also searching underneath? It feels like you are searching for something in your dream. Which I feel relates to your past as most of your dream seems to relate to past memories (Village), past history (Plato) and symbols from the past (Hieroglyphs).
I can’t remember what the runes stand for as I have not done them in over 20 years and I have forgotten most of the symbols but I remember ‘I’ stands for or represents Ice, which maybe means you are frozen at this point in your life. You are at a standstill and the bridge is there for you but something is keeping you from crossing over it".
Ishtahota... "Water for me is always spirituality and a bridge is something that can insulate me from water. I would say that the water is a flow of spiritual awareness flowing threw your life. And as it moves it can uncover keys to knowledge that have always been there. Runes and hieroglyphics are keys to knowledge. The knowledge is in us all, the keys just unlock it so that we can comprehend it". I can totally relate to this, I feel the same way. Water for me also is about emotions. I have always been someone who is affected a lot by their emotions. Time has helped me in this respect and growing self awareness and understanding. Often strong emotions can cloud our vision, so when the water receeds, we see more clearly. George.. "But we sometimes live in simple surroundings that belie our profound introduction to science and history. We know there are things minute unseen like atoms and electricity. We know things existed long ago and had many adventures. We know logically beyond what we can see and yearn to actually see them. What a thrill to discover things ancient laying at our feet! And yet the mystery just forever beckons".Thank you again so much for your replies and I look forward to seeing more of your words in relation to other dreams. I will continue to put mine on. If anyone else wants to have a go at this dream, please feel free to do so. Love and light Kaz
