What do Hindus believe about the ego? Is there a way to undo it while here on earth?

EGO is the most powerful inner part of the spirit, that is the creator of the existence of spirit in this so called Nature. It is being defined by various Saints, as the one which is responsible for being detaching the spirit from the Soul always.
In Hinduism, Respecting the Elders, and feeling sensitive about other feelings is what being considered as the major way of being Satvik always. And, Ego denotes the presence of 'I' as the supreme power, considering or comparing it as a distinction with other spirits, which are also the same way of origin for them.
Younger age is termed as the most powerful and the dangerous period of actually diverting the individual/spirits own life of turn into either with the Satvik Bhao or living along with the Tamsik level of the nature itself.
Ego is not like something that can be measured or seeing in any form. It exists in all the activities that this individual does in his/her lifes all the time.
To Undo EGO, Meditation and Bhakti being considered as the best ways of Spirituality to feel the individual/spirit getting connected to the divine knowingly/unknowingly always.
And the impact of being living in this Maya/Nature is something that is what responsible for increasing the EGO higher and higher, especially in Kaliyug.
Ego is all about the thoughts, mindset, self-importance, getting disconnected from the soul, feeling disturbed or stressed, contradicting thoughts, Lack of Trust, Losing Patience Levels, Dissolving deeper in and deeper into the materialistic world as a reality, being more and more concerned about his/her rather the society, Emotional dis-balances and many many other day to day life things that actually the reason of boosting up the individuals Ego levels and nothing more than that.
No matter, we call it a Hindu, Muslim, Christian or someone else....It can be just distinguished according to the materialistic senses of the life the individual or the physical body is living in this Maya/Nature. But the inner depth of the one called as spirit, which is present in all the creations in this nature, are the one which have got what they deserve according to the law of Karma.
And its being said that, its the human body only where the spirit gets a chance to either dissolve that ego and get progress toward the divine. Or, also its the human body only where the spirit writes its own life for the future as well....either took it to the hell or the heaven...Its all like what ever the individual will do onthis earth, will be getting it in the same manner like the way what he or she is getting right now.
Thats why hinduism focuses and talks about How the life being seen in a plant or a animal is not just that the spirits are connected to them only.
Even the rocks do have spirits living in it.
Now, this is something which is not that easy to grasp or accept right now. As the Ego levels and the individuals own trust or faith depends on what he or she believes according to their own Mindset and acceptability.
Thats why its being said by the Saints also that : No body is Wrong. Everyone is playing there own roles, according to their own deserving levels. Thats why, there are so many spirits being getting a body to be part off.... and still there are many which are still waiting to get a body to come to the land of Maya or nature and do whatever they can't do while living in the spirit world.
Every spirit needs a Body. And we being living into this physcial body right now, are bound to be a part of these nature restrictions and rules, that needs to be followed according to its own creation as well..
Ego is all about building a wall of bricks again and again to let the space closed for ever, to feel the fresh air in your life itself.
And that wall is nothing more than a creation of self-thoughts and levels of the brain that builds either positively or negatively, which ever way they can be seen in this Nature itself..
That's why things like Social Work, Respecting the elders, getting connected with the NGOs, living a more simple life, cutting down on your expectation levels, feeling the presence of the divine always in everything, and many other spiritual grooming things.....That will one day let the individual free from the illusionary vision of this dreamy land and experience the enlihgtenment by himself one day.
