IMPENDING DOOM

Dear Friends,

Here is a dream from nearly 2 years ago but I would love to get an outsiders view of it please. I remember the feeling of impending doom from that dream and I have typed it out as I wrote it into my dream diary. I have my own theory about the dream and will share it after I hear all your views. Please feel free to comment as I would really love to hear all views on this. Thank you

26th August 2010 Thursday Morning

Very frightening dream. Was on our local beach with children playing. There was my son and 3 younger toddlers all playing around me. A stranger (man) with his kids joined us and he started playing chase & catch will all the kids including me. I remember enjoying running around chasing the little ones. We all stopped to catch our breath then looked out towards the sea. The man said it was going to rain because the sky & sea had turned dark. I could hear others (people) pointing and looking towards the sea. I said “No, its not rain...its a fog”.

A real thick fog started to move in towards us. I turned around to face the children who were just looking at the fog with their mouths open (my son was not in my dream after that). I turned around and looked back towards the sea & fog and the man said “its weird” and I said “its beyond weird, there is something happening” (from this point in the dream No Children are seen or heard or even remembered)

I felt a sense of fear as the fog started to clear and we could start to see the dark sea again only its a lot higher than before. Someone further up the beach screamed “RUN - IT’S A TIDAL WAVE” and we could hear everyone’s panic as they all screamed and shouted as huge waves started to crash down on top of them up to 20 – 40ft high. The stranger and I were up at the higher bit of the beach but the waves didn’t quite reach us. We could hear other people further up from us shouting at us to run, but we both seemed to be unable to run. We were afraid but could not seem to move or take our eyes of the wall of water coming towards us.

As the wall of water got closer it wasn’t a wall of water...it was a huge wave of horses breaking out of the sea and galloping towards the shore. The first one I saw was a huge brown horse which looked straight at me before running off. Then I saw other colours of horses, white, black, grey etc. The horses were frightened and I remember saying to the stranger “It’s the apocalypse!” He turned round and looked at me and I could see his fear all over his face and he looked doomed. This was the last I saw of him.

I still could hear people screaming run and as I looked back towards the sea for the last time, it was full of fire coming towards us. The bright orange & red 100ft flames filled both the sky and sea. It looks as if the sun had just fallen into the ocean. I remember feeling like this is the end. I am now going to die and I turned and started to run with all the other people. Next I’m on a boat dressed in traditional Indian costume and sailing with other Indians to India. Dream continues but is strange and makes no sense from there onwards.

Dear Lorraine,

In dream symbology the beach represents the borderline between the conscious and unconscious. Standing on a beach enables you to pull tremendous energy from the sea. Sand is also grounding and healing. You can use this energy to centre you, to enable you to fulfill your life goals and aspirations.

The children who are playing represent your inner child, your innocent, playful side. So a lot of creative energy here as children also symbolise new idea's. The man who joins you on the beach represents the masculine aspect of your energy. That part of you that has drive and ambition. As you know a male appearing in a dream is your ideal, and embodying qualities that you wish to emulate. Sometimes it can also point to aspect of the self that needs working on. In this instance I would say its the former rather then the later, looking at the general atmosphere at this stage of the dream.

You look up and notice the sky turns dark. Seeing the sky, the dream is showing you, that the sky is the limit literally. There is nothing you cannot aim for, it is showing you that within, there is immense room for growth and expansion. The darkness though indicates, that there is something going on within you or around you that is preventing you at this time from doing this. In the dark things are hidden, a warning of impending problems that may make it difficult for you to see the way ahead.

The reason for this comes in the next part of the dream. The fog rolls in. Fog in dream symbolism means that you are unable to see clearly. You must raise your energy above it, to gain the clarity and perspective you need. This would indicate to me, that it is the circumstances around you that is preventing you from seeing clearly, rather then what is happening within. Only you know if this is meaningful to you Lorraine.

As the fog starts to clear you notice the sea is dark and rising. The sea itself represents Life, enormous emotional energy to be respected and used wisely. This is the source of your life force. A tidal wave, symbolises, big powerful emotional upheaval. You say this dream happened two years ago. At this time can you remember, if something of this nature happened to you? Something huge, that really shook your world, upset you deeply? Whatever it was, it would have really affected you, the darkness of it, would indicate it was a very negative situation, which did indeed frighten you, to the point it paralyzed you, making it difficult for you to know what to do or how to cope with it.

The water changes to horses. Horses represent freedom, power and sexual energy. When we dream of an animal, we look at the qualities and characteristics of the animal are, as a guide to what the dream is trying to tell us. For me this is saying that you have the ability to take those powerful emotions of yours and transform them. By channeling the energy of the horse, as part of your own personal power, you can use it to empower you to deal with whatever situation you found yourself in at that time. So rather then being overwhelmed by your emotions at the time, though you were afraid, and for a while may have felt paralyzed into inaction. You did, find the strength and energy within to cope with the situation. Does this makes sense to you?

The colours of the horses are Brown, White, Grey and Black. Each colour has meaning. Brown represents grounding. Black represents the unknown, the unconscious. Grey represents fear and White represents the truth and purity. All these colours are conveying to you through symbolism, what the atmosphere was made up of connected to the situation you were experiencing at the time. There is fear there, but through the unconscious mind, or connecting with your intuition, listening to your heart you can connect to your inner guidance and see the truth of a situation. Your ability to ground yourself, and stay centered and stable in the midst of adversity was your strength. You would have used all of those qualities to give you what you needed at the time.

The term you used, “It’s the apocalypse! Is telling me at the time, it felt like the end of the world. When people dream about end of world scenario's, it normally heralds great change. Not the end as you might think. But the beginning of a new phase in your life. The dream is saying to me, that whatever was happening to you at this time, was indeed life changing. It affected you personally, your life at the time changed, maybe causing difficulties for you and a lot of adjustments had to be made. But you coped and coped well. Though it did have a big emotional cost for you at the time.

The sun in dream symbology represents Christ, God within. Light of God, eye of Truth. Power, energy, knowledge and clarity. That which brings forth life and sustains us. This sun, is your inner light, your guidance and your inspiration. It is this part of you that you turn to when your life becomes overwhelming for you. It is your spiritual life and beliefs that you draw your strength from. It is what keeps your head above water, literally in life. Excuse the pun. But can you see how in the dream it works. The sun comes right down to the surface of the water. Its Spiritual, powerful life giving energy, counteracts any harmful affects of your emotionally sensitivity and tendency in life at times to feel extremely overwhelmed. Fire is purification and transformation, though frightening in a dream it is a extremely powerful and positive symbol.

This is highlighted at the end of your dream Lorraine. You did not die, you sailed away in your boat, which represents your personal energy. You did not drown, you were not overwhelmed. Your boat floated above the water, it carried you safely towards the sunset, towards God, who will always protect you and guide you and keep you safe.

Wow Kaz thank you for a wonderful interpretation. I read Lorraine's dream earlier and was anxiously awaiting to hear others' insight. I must say this was not what I was expecting to hear. I also thought it was some type of “end of the world” dream. But in essence I guess it was....it was the end of something in Lorraine's world.

Where do I start to begin...Firstly, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU

Thank you for the in-depth interpretation, Wow, I never expected you would get all that out of my dream. It’s actually quite scary how accurate you are, and you so are! without me going into detail here as it’s too public here (on forum) to divulge. It’s amazing all teh information we hide for ourselves through symbology. It was nice that you were able to turn around my dream for me and into a positive dream. In interpreting this dream you have also answered other dreams that have followed me throughout my dreamlife. I had often wondered why the recurring water, fire and sky themes were always present in my dreams.

Another one I have always dreamt of all my entire life is of tornados. I am always running away or hiding from big huge tornado’s heading towards me. Another dream that has ‘haunted’ me for years since I was as young as eight years old is an old hotel near where I live although it looks so modern to look at, its history dates back as far as the last 1800’s. I dream I am a kitchen servant and I am dressed in black and white uniform. I am most often scared in this dream as I it reminds me very much of the film ‘The Shining’. Always starts off the same, hotel busy full of people and I am working very hard as kitchen maid and then I am suddenly on my own in this big huge hotel...but i am not alone...there is a presence there with me and it is a scary presence and I am always on this twisted spiral old wooden steps that go down and down and down, and the further I go down the darker it gets and the more afraid I am. I NEVER see anything just feel a presence closing in on me, but I ALWAYS wake up in a cold sweat...burrr makes me shiver just thinking about it. I feel this dream is more related to a ‘past life’ maybe but again I could be completely wrong and I probably am lol.

Anyway Karen I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the time you spent on my dream and I can tell you did with all the information you provided me with I just wanted you to know that I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.
