Last night I had a dream about the devil in human form. I remember he was sitting behind a desk in a large room where we were constructing a pool or some other recreational room. He spoke to me, but I don't remember what he said, but I remember I felt paralyzed by fear. He was handsome in a rugged way. I left the room and went and sat in a hallway - it appeared that we were in a school. I began to pray, asking God to be by my side and to keep me safe, that I was afraid. I remember saying the Lord's Prayer and when I was done, I got up and walked back to the room, still afraid but when I got there, the devil was gone.

Someone asked me.. What is your religion? I said, "All the paths that lead to the light".

Hi Sherrih, Welcome to the dream board. Dreams are multi faceted and can have meanings on many levels. Every day thoughts, our waking time experiences, the films we have watched, books we have read, all can bleed into our dream scape. The language of dreams is in their symbolism. Often what we think they mean taken in an obvious context, mean something else entirely.
Dream characters, are actually aspects of the dreamer. Each one representing or symbolising some aspect of your character, personality or qualities. They can also be symbolic of people we know, or who are around us in waking time. When something or someone appears in a dream, it is believed it is a message or they are messengers from our higher selves, trying to communicate with us. Trying to make us aware of aspects of ourselves, our lives, that may need working on.
To dream of the devil, can be quite a frightening experience. But in dream symbolism itself, when we dream about the devil, it is asking the dreamer to look at the lower, baser aspects of the personality. It is the ignorant or unaware, the selfish aspect of the self that leads us into making bad decisions and not taking responsibility for our actions. It is this part of the self that tends to succumb to temptation, doing things we know are not good for us or are morally wrong.
In the dream setting, the devil takes the form of a man. Now quite literally, it could be as direct as saying to you, is there a man around you in your life at the moment, who is tempting you in a unhealthy way. Or encouraging you to do things that go against your own inner moral compass? The dream is also in a school setting. Which symbolically is indicating a lesson or there are lessons to be learned from this situation, or from the atmosphere around you at this time. So be aware of those you interact with. Be aware of the decisions you make at this time.
You walk through a hallway. In dream symbology hallway's represent a narrow pathway that is necessary to walk through. Whether that hallway is light or dark indicates how clearly you are seeing what is going on around you. So in life, are you walking a fine line at the moment, your choices in life being restricted by something you are doing, or someone you are associating with? The pathway does lead you to insight, which fits nicely in its setting within the school. This to me Sherrih, indicates whatever it is you are dealing with at this time, is an important part of your personal/spiritual growth.
In the dream you pray to God for protection. This would indicate to me that you do have a strong faith. It does not have to be in a traditional sense, simply that you have a strong connection and awareness of the divine protective energy, and instinctively trust in that to protect you, when you are afraid or in a situation you are unsure of. As we go through life, there will be times when we will feel uncertain or threatened or just uncomfortable with a situation or people around us. Use this inner sense of knowing to protect yourself. A prayer, visualising a white or bright light around you will help to enforce this intention of protection. It will also guide you forward, when the way ahead may seem dark or unclear.
I hope this has helped Sherrih. This is my interpretation of your dream, please only take from it that which is meaningful or resonates with you and simply leave the rest.
Love and light Kaz
