Love is supposed to attract and hate is supposed to repel. What are you thoughts on the magnetism and the repellent qualities of these polar opposites?

Love takes part in the energy and universal law of magnetic attraction — the other hate, is born from the law of repulsion. It is said all "things" live in polarity,, one cannot know one without the other? Can we truly know love without hate?. Not so sure,,, but my heart wants to say yes to love,, but no about hate. One brings us together, unites us,, the other separates us. But separation also gives us the ability to understand differences and work with them. In the study of Alchemy one learns that both properties - attraction and separation are kind of fundamental to growth and transformation. But at different stages of our psychological and spiritual growth they have different qualities and uses. If anyone knows the Astrological archetypes,,,Venus is said to be symbolic of magnetic attraction and Mars to the process of separation.

Opposites are a product of our duality consciousness, only the reflection of what we are on the inside, they are also an illusion. Cold is not the opposite of hot, it is the absense of heat. Dark is not the opposite of light, it is the absense of light. And love is a force all of it's own. The human race knows nothing of LOVE. We practice what love is not all of the time.

I think the subject is more complex. "Birds of a feather flock together" contrasts with "this town isn't big enough for the both of us". There seems to be a universal law that things gravitate to each other only to fly apart later. Perhaps the definition of all creation as constantly vibrating entities and/or ideas ensues we will be in constant motion.
As always the time element is the hardest to understand. At any one point in time we love to do or be certain things and are attracted to that. But over time we don't even see or experience it the same so mayby the problem is our level of loving. I don't know. I have unpacked my bags and made some life long commitments but still feel a need to grow up and mature. The two can contradict each other. I hate that. Oops. Sorry that just slipped out.
Well opposites do attract. Enigma abounds!
