The Tibetan Book of the Dead
Over the next few days, as time permits, I shall post extracts from the Tibetan Book of the Dead. I believe it is not only important on a spiritual level but also has great relevance on a daily, practical level.
I shall post small sections in separate posts so that discussions which might develop are contained.
The texts come from: The Tibetan Book of the Dead Tibetan Title: The Great Liberation By Hearing In The Intermediate States Composed by: Padmasambhava Revealed by: Terton Karma Lingpa Translated by: Gyurme Dorje Edited by: Graham Coleman with Thupten Jinpa Introductory Commentary by: His Holiness the Dalai Lama
[Penguin Books] This is the first complete translation
We shall begin with the Common Preliminary Practice. The notes state that in the original Tibetan this is written in verse and usually sung melodically in the early morning during morning duties.
Even in translation we can sense its poetic beauty.
