There is something very majical abut the experience of "I love" Psychologically it is their feeling function (the water element) that gets activated when two lovers first meet. Empathy burst forth and sparks fly that ignite a passion and unmistakable bliss. When you are with that person, you are "in heaven".
We mistakenly call this love, and many find themselves searching for their other half, their "Soul Mate". We believe that this is neccessary and will compete us and that this majic is what we feel we must in order to truly value the other person. As you will see when u understand the nature of the "Anima" and "Animus. It is only the begining of an encounter with our unconscious.
It's interesting that the word "Soul" also means psyche. In the s
psychology of Dr Carl G Jung, he explains this phenomenen projecting our Anima and Animus (the contrasexual soul in our unconscious) onto eachother. The psyche sees wholeness, a union of our inner opposites, . When projection occurs, this process has began these contrasexual images within our selves by the people we either lover or hate.
Many times we fall in love and get involved in some very unsuitable , destructive and soul destroying relationships, butit does show us aspects of our shadow. In order to grow a whole person, we need to become aware of what is really happpening to us. When someone is "into us" we need to ask ourselves, is it love or is it projection? Two people won't really know each other actually so this requires self honesty and self disclosure.
A women carries an image of her male counterpart, made up of er history with her father, the first male in her life, and early experiences with men. This inner masculine, the Animus, helps her to achieve her goals, gives her greater intellectual clarity, helps her to have clearer boundaries and be a mediator between her ego and her hunconcious, the unconcious inner male. This image gets projected into the outer world, and creates a mirror affect, which is projected.
The clue to projection is the intensity knowing projection has occured is a perculiar feeling of intense fascination or with annother person, she will feel is her idea mate. He of course, unless huge ego and enjoys the power that he now have a problem with this. Unless he is faced with the same dilemma, and see's her as his ideal Anima, his inner feminine. When this happens to two people at the same time, we call this falling in love. But are they falling in love, or ito an image they have projected of their perfect opposites..
I would be very interested..to hear of anyone else that has had this experience, or is interested in understanding more about the process..the above has been largly quoted from an article written by Rebeca E Eigen..
