How Muslims See Jesus

In Islam religion, Jesus (peace be upon him) is believed as one of the greatest prophets and one of the greatest messengers of God to mankind.

In the Quran, there is a complete chapter (or Surah) titled 'Maryam' (Mary) that confirms Maryam virgin birth. The Quran states the following on the birth of Jesus (peace be upon him):
{(Remember) when the angels said, "O Mary, God gives you good news of a word from Him (God), whose name is the Messiah Jesus, son of Mary, revered in this world and the Hereafter, and one of those brought near (to God). He will speak to the people from his cradle and as a man, and he is of the righteous." She said, "My Lord, how can I have a child when no mortal has touched me?" He said, "So (it will be). God creates what He wills. If He decrees a thing, He says to it only, 'Be!' and it is."} (Quran, chapter 3, verses 45-47)

Jesus was born as miracle by the word and command of God. This command is, as said in Quran, the same command that had brought Adam into being with neither a father nor a mother. God has said in Quran:
{The case of Jesus with God is like the case of Adam. He created him from dust, and then He said to him, "Be!" and he came into being.} (Quran, chapter 3, verse 59)
During the prophetic mission of Jesus (peace be upon him), Jesus performed many miracles. God tells us that Jesus said:
{I have come to you with a sign from your Lord. I make for you the shape of a bird out of clay, I breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by God's permission. I heal the blind from birth and the leper. And I bring the dead to life by God's permission. And I tell you what you eat and what you store in your houses....}
(Quran, chapter 3, verse 49)

Muslims believe that Jesus was not crucified. They believe that the enemies of Jesus (peace upon him) plotted and planned to crucify Jesus. However, God miraculously saved Jesus and raised him up to Him (to God). God, the all Powerful and the all Capable, put the likeness of Jesus (peace upon him) over another man. The enemies of Jesus (peace upon him) thought that the this other man is Jesus and they took him and crucified him. God has said:
{...They said, "We killed the Messiah Jesus, son of Mary, the messenger of God." They did not kill him, nor did they crucify him, but the likeness of him was put on another man (and they killed that man)... } (Quran, chapter 4, verse 157)

It is worthy to emphasize that both Jesus (peace upon him) and Mohamed, or may be spelled Muhammad, (peace upon him) came to mankind to call for worshiping only and the only one God. Neither of them nor Moses came to change the basic doctrine of the belief in one and only God. this doctrine that was brought by earlier prophets from including Noah, Abraham, Isac, Jacob, David, Solomon, and others. both Jesus (peace upon him) and Mohamed received the revelation from God to confirm and renew the doctrine of worshiping one (and only one) God.

The book of Angels does not mention any of this so I am confused as to why anyone would believe any of this???

People forget that Muslims believe in Jesus, there are so many similarities between the Abrahamic religions. That being Islam, Judaism and Christianity. If people would just look beyond their nose, they would see that we all follow the same star.

There is nothing in Islam called "greatest prophet" all prophets are equal to us. Also, Islam forbids drawings for prophets that drawing you uploaded is unacceptable. Mazen, it does not say that Jesus was the greatest prophet, it says he was one of the greatest prophets.. Basically held in high esteem. Remember this is an all faith group, so a picture of Jesus does no harm. You would think you would get more people complaining that the picture is of a black african man. Who knows what Jesus actually looked like, he could be exactly the opposite of how he has been portrayed for thousands of years.

Everyone of the so-called Abrahamic religions thinks they are right and their path is the righteous, as a follower of Abraham, as were my brothers Moses, Messiah Jesus and Mohammad, I can only smile at the people who think Mohammad is the one Jesus will follow when he returns, when they were all commanded by God to follow Abraham, and all us true beleivers, follow Abraham and his way, the only true Way to God, and to those who think God has only one name "Allah", well their delusion surpases most other poeples delusions. Call Him God or the Almighty or any name, all good names are to God.

Leon:There are no greatest prophets , as I said all prophets are equal.I am not objecting on that man is black or white , I am objecting on the concept of drawing Eissa (Jesus). Even if the picture does not harm , but it is wrong (in Islam).

I thought the purpose of this site was to promote and explore things either spiritual or indicative of a G*d concept outside of dogma. The reason being there might a time and place where you wanted to explore and share what you have learned or are seeking . But you weren't entirely sure of yourself and anything else and wanted more time to explore and grow.

I have made no attempt to hide my own idiosyncrasies about things very much outside the usual realm of spiritually because I resented the implication you HAD to be or think a certain way to be spiritual. I thought I had the right as did the others did to approach things spiritual as an individual. There is nothing that causes me to flee all of this more then being regarded as a convert or a slavish adherent.

I realize some people can pretend to be advocates of something they know little about and wind up subverting the very things they profess to be helping. I also know the measure of anything successful is reliant on how much the OUTSIDE world accepts and is benefited by it. So do not be surprised if non-Muslims read and contribute to this particular forum and don't do things exactly Kosher. Be thankful they were at least interested enough to drop by and say Hello and not throw rocks.

Muslims own the Islamic religion but nobody owns G*d or is able to speak for Him exclusively.

Wise words George. For some this is a portal into Islam, it will be the first thing they have read on the subject. This group is for all to learn, we do not want to push people away at the gates of understanding. People have come freely to learn more about spirituality and it's many aspects. We are not here to sell any Religion, to the contrary, we are here shining light on all Religions and beliefs, so that we can look at them honestly with the respect they deserve.
