Hi Everyone,
I have been having some trouble sleeping since the year started and tonight (March 30th, 2012) happened to be one of those nights. In an effort to get tired enough so that sleep would eventually take a hold of me, I decided to search for "Angel Chat" and those words led me to a chat board where I chatted with some interesting people, then to registering and finally to this message.
I don't even know if i'm doing this right but it's worth a try. I hope i'm not making anyone fall asleep here (if only it would work on me!) I just wanted to share the sudden realisation I had recently. It's like all the books I have ever read by various authors (Don Miguel Ruiz, Eckhart Tolle, Doreen Virtue, Wayne Dyer etc.) finally breaked through the block that was holding me back.
What did I finally get? I realised that we do have that power of choice, especially choice over our thoughts which ultimately leads to action or non-reaction as the case may be. It's really a free feeling when you realise you can just choose happiness and that you're very much entitled to it, that it's ok to be happy contrary to what we have been taught.
Abraham Hicks videos really helped sum it up for me as well. I pray that everyone can choose happiness, take the lessons out of the experiences without judgment and march to their own beat with no intentional hurt to anyone!

Dear Sharm, Don't you just love those Aah Haa moments. I wrote a post yesterday on the power of positive thinking. What you have just realised, is exactly what I was trying to convey in that message. We, do have power over our own lives. We are not helpless victims of circumstance. No matter how many books or inspirational messages we read, unless we understand that the power to change our lives lies within us, and not in the hands of another, then nothing will change. Yes, we can read about how others have done it, and admire them for it. But if we continue to think, that only these things happen to others, and not to people like us, then the message they are conveying will keep going over our heads. You have now begun your own spiritual and healing journey. I am positive that the Reiki course you will be taking this week, will help to solidify that feeling you have inside about your own personal power and ability to change. Allowing you to be your true self and living the happy life you want and deserve. There are two books I would like to recommend to you, that really made a deep impression upon me. One is M Scott Peck's 'The Road Less Traveled' and Paul Ferrini's 'Silence Of The Heart'. I have written my own review of both of these books on this spiritual books board. Both, have been wonderfully inspiring for me and both have given me those 'Aah Haa' moments. If you have time, explore the posts on this forum, and you will see that there are others who have struggled with their personal growth and spiritual development. But oh so generously shared their journeys with us. What I loved about this, is that knowing that others have struggled with the same problems and questions we have had over time, is so very heartening. Its so good to know that we are not alone. For myself, I have come to see and understand that this whole process is a vital part of our growth and self understanding. And yes, the process can be very painful. There is a quote I love by Anais Nin 'There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom'. Love and light Kaz

Thank you for the wonderful reply Kaz! I have read 'The Road Less Traveled' and I really enjoyed it but I will definitely take a look at 'Silence of the Heart'.
I know that the power of choice is something that we have to remind ourselves of everyday but I look forward to seeing it become easier as the days go by.
Thanks again and Love and Happiness to you always.
