Hello,
I've had so many bad things happen to me over the past few years that I'm starting to wonder if there is a God. Recently I got married (I'm 43) to a man that swore he loved me til the end. Well after only a few months of marriage, he walked away from me and my daughter leaving me with no money and bills. He also wants a divorce. God knew how important it is for me NOT to be divorced, but I'm being forced into it. I believe it's a sin to get divorce. Why would God put me in a position to have to go against Him like that. And if God is all powerful then why can't He make my husband not be such a quitter?

Hello there mrsjohnson I do not think God exists to fulfill our wishes. One way to pray to become a link in the chain, is not to ask what God can do for you, but what you can do for God. In such a way we become fellow servants to each other, and what a nice place would it be when everyone serves each other, proper teamwork. In such a way we not only serve God and each other, but also ourselves, it is mutually beneficial. Whereas when we want God and others to serve us and fulfill our wishes, it is not mutual. Of course we can have for ourselves, and God gives, but God does not ask of anyone to give up their freewill, because he loves us. If God would alter someone against their will, that person would not be free, and love creates not slaves. Many blessings to you.

Hello Monkey100, thanks for the post. I understand what you are saying however I wonder why would he allow a man like that to come into my life knowing what kind a man he is. With Him knowing how important the sanctity of marriage is to me why would He allow me to meet a man that claimed to value marriage as me, but in actuality have no respect for vowing to be married.
With that being said, although I have no clue as to why God felt I needed to experience this past year's event; I do still believe in God. But that's as far as I've gotten so far. I have spent a lot of time on this site and from speaking to some of the members I have learned some things about myself. I do know that I act impulsively and I can't blame God for that. So I am accepting my role in my current situation.
Blessings to you as well Dee

Dee, everything happens for some good.. i read following article about Jesus somewhere ... may be this will help...
Me: God, can I ask You a question?
God: Sure
Me: Promise You won't get mad
God: I promise
Me: Why did You let so much stuff happen to me today?
God: What do u mean?
Me: Well, I woke up late
God: Yes
Me: My car took forever to start
God: Okay
Me: at lunch they made my sandwich wrong & I had to wait
God: Huummm
Me: On the way home, my phone went DEAD, just as I picked up a call
God: All right
Me: And on top of it all off, when I got home ~I just want to soak my feet in my new foot massager & relax. BUT it wouldn't work!!! Nothing went right today! Why did You do that?
God: Let me see, the death angel was at your bed this morning & I had to send one of My Angels to battle him for your life. I let you sleep through that
Me (humbled): OH
GOD: I didn't let your car start because there was a drunk driver on your route that would have hit you if you were on the road.
Me: (ashamed)
God: The first person who made your sandwich today was sick & I didn't want you to catch what they have, I knew you couldn't afford to miss work.
Me (embarrassed):Okay
God: Your phone went dead bcuz the person that was calling was going to give false witness about what you said on that call, I didn't even let you talk to them so you would be covered.
Me (softly): I see God
God: Oh and that foot massager, it had a shortage that was going to throw out all of the power in your house tonight. I didn't think you wanted to be in the dark.
Me: I'm Sorry God
God: Don't be sorry, just learn to Trust Me.... in All things , the Good & the bad.
Me: I will trust You.
God: And don't doubt that My plan for your day is Always Better than your plan.
Me: I won't God. And let me just tell you God, Thank You for Everything today.
God: You're welcome child. It was just another day being your God and I Love looking after My Children...
i hope Dee something "The Best" is waiting for u ... u just need to strive for it... God Bless u Charu

Could you not get the marriage annulled?

The good book says something like "What God has joined together, let no one (end it)." If your man was a good (Godly) person then maybe God joined you in marriage. From your description, I do not believe that is possible. God would not have you suffer. Trust your inner guidance. It is from Spirit.
Peace and blessings

Dee,
I can't say that I know what you're going through, nor will I say that I will go through something like that in the future because I don't know what lies for me. However, I do feel like even if it's not advice, or anything super important, that I feel you should know that I will be praying for you and keeping you in my heart.
I hope everything works out for the best. Good luck and God bless.
