Hi I often think about this dream that I have had a couple of times in my past about cats! There usually many cats and they attack me. Im scared and cry in my dream but then I get brave and end up attacking these cats and bite them back on there heads! When i have this dream I end up waking up scared out of breath and feeling very upset! This is a strange dream and cant make out what this dream is telling me! Can anybody help in trying to make sense and try to explain what this dreams means? Thanks

Sounds like a nightmare! For me I tend to look at dreams from a feeling perspective... as in the pictures/images in the dream are being created on how I feel about something.. either consciously or subconciously.. Imho, I think that the cats attacking you resembles you being exposed to something that is happening around you that you are uncomfortable with... or feel that you arn't quite ready for.. this maybe a decision you need to make or a situation that is a reoccurrence of a past event where you felt threatened... I think it's a dream that recognises you've come to a point now where you can move forward, you just need to let go and take a chance? HC

Hello Zobo,
I agree with HC it does indeed sound like a nightmare. But, in dream scape, nightmares are very powerful dreams. For it is through them, that we often work through issues, that in waking life cause us anxiety. Its a safe way in which the mind uses the opportunity to face things that we shy awake from, allowing us to become desensitised to their affects.
Cats are an image of wholeness - a merging of the physical and spiritual, the psychic and the sensual. For a cat, these are not separate worlds, but one. They have been tagged with a variety of traits, including curiosity, nine lives, independence, cleverness, unpredictability, and healing.
As characters, animals in our dreams are an extension of ourselves. Look at these characteristics and see if you recognise them in yourself. Or do you wish to emulate any of them more in your waking life. Dreams often point the finger for us at ways in which we can help ourselves.
Cats have long been held sacred and linked to images of power. Egyptians named the Goddess Bast as the divine mother of cats. The cat was sacred, and to kill one might be punishable by death. Many people believed the cat was the child of the moon and it was said that 'the moon brought forth the cat'. This curious link has been regarded as due to 'the changeableness of the pupils of the eye, which in the daytime is a mere narrow line, dilatable at night to a luminous globe.' From the magic of their eyes arose the belief that cats were seers with strong mediumistic powers.
So it would seem that to see a cat in your dream, even if it appears to be aggressive toward you, is not necessarily a bad thing. They are very powerful images. Your ambivalence toward them, could be connected to resisting or being afraid of your feminine energies, your intuitive self.
Human beings regardless of gender, hold both male and female energies. Yin and Yang. So please do not see having feminine energy as being emasculating if you are a man, instead realise, by connecting with these two energies and harmonising them within, it can only enhance the quality of your emotional and intuitive life and visa versa.
The cats trying to attack you, could be seen as this part of your nature, striving to get your attention. It is curious how in the dream you bite their heads. As the head, the forehead is where the 'third eye' is believed to reside and the crown is the connection to the higher spiritual and divine energies. Have you been struggling with your spiritual beliefs, or heightened sense of awareness? Only you have the answer to these questions zobo, I am just throwing them out there for you to think about.
Cats in dream symbology represent the feminine aspect of the self. It is also about the instinctive part of the self, attuned to nature and survival. In life, do you feel anxious or stressed out at the moment. The feminine aspect of the cat, may be part of your own psyche, and might represent some inner conflict or turmoil about yourself. Or it may represent a significant female in your life. Someone who is causing you anxiety?
This is only my interpretation of your dream Zobo, please only take from it that which resonates, is meaningful to you, and simply leave the rest.
Love and light Kaz
