In light of what I've been reading in the forums, I've found in my many years of life that certain ideals are expected of people. We have to realize even within our own idiosyncrasies, there are small happenings in our lives we have to think about first and consider the outcome before acting upon them.
Sometimes you can say a lot...using few words. It can be all that is needed to consider how to make our lives a little better in the long run. Again... saying little..sometimes says everything. You will get your point across if you try using this suggestion.
I've learned that the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an older/elderly person. We so often don't want to listen to what they have to say or accept their suggestions because we feel they don't understand where we're coming from. How little do we know that they have most probably followed the same paths as we have. They have gone through some of the similar hurt, rejections or other experiences you don't know about that occurred in different aspects of their lives.
Do we ever think to say to someone, "you have made my day"? Maybe that would be the only thing said that has made their day. The smile. The sincerity. It can put a glow inside of them even if it doesn't appear outwardly.
I've also learned that at times, being kind is more important than being right.
Life for so many of us can be serious. We try to cover our feelings or push them into our subconscious. Yes, we have our trials and tribulations but no matter how serious our life requires us to be, I've found that sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand. That is true on the Internet as well as in real life. I have read the support many receive in the forums here as well as in the chat room. We are so fortunate to have friends who will listen.
We need to take the time to understand someone who can't cope or whom you can't seem to cope with. Our willingness to support them will come back 10 fold. Patience is a virtue.
We really should be glad God doesn't give us everything we ask for. Can you imagine how our lives would be if that occurred? What a mess!
Please don't plan on getting even with someone. You are only letting that person continue to hurt you. Under that person's hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved. Life is tough and by the grace of God and prayer, you are tougher. Remember to think first and consider what the outcome will be.
Always remember...the Lord didn't do it all in one day. What makes us think we can? Just a thought there...
So everyone, these are the thoughts and lessons learned from one of the oldsters in TheGodLight. I've come to this site to learn. The easiest way for anyone to grow as a person, is to surround themselves with people smarter than they are. Smarter, not in the sense of IQ smart, but from those who are more knowledgeable or who can contribute more to what is already known. I've also come here to find friendship which was easy to do. It's wonderful to know how nice people really can be.
