It would be helpful to know the dream in full to put it in context. Turtles can mean protecting oneself, being defensive, slow to react, long lived, ancient knowledge (chinese), could be simply "natural" being, or someone who plods along. Could be like in the story about hare and turtle that the steady one wins the race. Really really depends on context though. Let us know!

I agree, the context of the dream usually eludes to the meaning. Give us more to go with Jackie if you can.
Thanks God bless! Silvia

I should of thought of that before to explain the dream. Let me see If I can remember. Yes I had the turtle in a glass container. I had the turtle with me everywhere I went, it keep trying to get out and I had to push it back in and not let it get out. That was pretty much what I remember of the dream. Thanks Jackie

Sounds like you are fighting coming out of your shell, or wanting to keep something close to your heart. The glass container is something that seems to work well enough but has the disadvantage of being fragile if roughly handled. The turtle trying to escape and come out seems to be the base of the dream. I think it represents some aspect of yourself or some experience you've had that you want to avoid exposing to the world. I think this because you said it went everywhere with you, which infers it is a part of you or a big part of your life up til now. Turtles are characterized usually as shy beings, something I would say fits you very well. Or at least my interactions with you. You usually keep to yourself but participate when it feels safe to do so or when you have a question you'd like answered. But you aren't as outgoing as say, Nina, or myself. Does that make sense? Having the shell would infer defensive safety, getting a thicker skin and being able to protect yourself. Having that shell in a glass container as an extra protection means maybe you feel fragile and don't want to be overly exposed. It also feels like perhaps you think you aren't "enough" by yourself. You need /want extra protection. I assure you, you are very much enough for anyone! In the dream, you have to work at keeping the turtle in though so it might be you are wanting to come out of your shell but a little unsure of what will happen if you do so you are fighting within yourself. Is there anyone you've been trying to protect in your life? Or feeling has been hurt and you want to carry them thru some part of their life? That could also be another meaning. Hope it helps. Vandra
